Foster can’t explain the changes in his body that started when he escaped his abusive ex. Despite the eerie feeling that he’s being watched, he forces himself to leave his apartment after a month of hiding. To his surprise, his distracted wandering leads him to the Den, a night club unlike any he has ever been to.
Calix has never felt more trapped. With a boss that constantly makes inappropriate comments and magic he can’t control, the stress drives him to The Den, a perfect place to lose himself in pleasure.
Boaz thought it was going to be another boring night guarding the Hellgate beneath his club until he spots two beautiful men dancing the night away. The moment their scents hit his nose, he knows that everything is about to change.
When unexpected dangers shake the foundation of their newfound love, the men must decide how much they’re willing to sacrifice to fight for their love, and their world.
Den of Escape is a paranormal romance about three men falling in love. It is the first book in The Den series, which will follow a new couple in every book. It can be read as a standalone though there will be an overarching plot through each book, so it is better read in order. It contains explicit content, graphic language and situations some readers may find uncomfortable. For a more detailed description please check the content guide inside the novel.
My name is Juniper Cole. I love all things smutty, why choose, fantasy, supernatural, Sci-fi, paranormal, MM, Etc.. I am a stay at home mom that writes while my children are at school or in bed. I am currently working on, why choose, polyamorous, and MM romance stories. I tend to stick to fantasy or paranormal so I can escape the real world while I write. I have mixed feelings about this one. It was a sweet read for the most part, with some dark moments scattered about... heed the content warnings. But my reading tastes have changed. I need more than sex. Yes, I know... who would have thought? But I think there was a lot of potential here for more intimacy and sweetness without all the sex scenes on every other page. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but there was a lot of sex at times I didn't think fit. I also found some of Foster's reactions strange, given his circumstances.
That all being said, I did like it, and I kept reading even if I began to skip the sex scenes. I will pick up the next one with the hopes it's toned down a bit.
But I honestly think it could have been a bit shorter if we hadn't had so many s@x scenes. I enjoyed the overall story arc and how Foster found his mates in Boaz and Calix and how they all learned to love each other despite being fated mates. I love s@x scenes, don't get me wrong, but sometimes there are just too many.
3.5, I really disliked the characterization of Foster, he seemed like a child/puppy rather than a grown man. But I liked the other two and the representation of therapy. Plus the 🌶️ was 🔥😈🔥.
DNF @ 15%. This is mostly erotica and I didn’t know that when I picked it up. I don’t mind spice but this was a whole lot of spice that was written like a wattpad novel. I did not have a good time. I get the fated mates trope but the characters deciding that they are in love and want to be together forever after they’ve only known each other for 15 minutes max was a bit much for me. So yeah, this book is getting tossed into virtual black hole of my DNF shelf to be consumed there. Bon voyage book.
This book was absolutely Amazing! This is book one in the Den series. This book is a Paranormal MMM Poly Romance. It consisted of fated mates, demons, vampires, and more! This book can be read as a Standalone. I will say that it involves 3 MMC and it is an Amazing read. Please check trigger warnings before reading. I was so engulfed with this book, with every page I wanted to read more and more. Juniper wrote an Amazing story that didn't make me feel like there were an plot holes. Juniper's work was well written. If you are love reading stories that are sweet yet heartbreaking and tragic then you must check out this one. I can't wait to read more of Juniper's written work!
Loved the book and it all came together very well. The author is able to keep you fixed until the last page then you want more. It's very sweet, tragic, and has a very great hea end can't wait for more.
This is a steamy insta-love story that's wrapped up in some darker themes. The actually relationship between the three main characters is pretty quick and light. These three guys hit it off hot and heavy and there's a ton of spice almost right off the bat. I'm just noting it because I do know some people like less flames than others. I enjoyed Foster, Calix, and Boaz and understand that their quick connection is down to being fated mates. However, I also wouldn't have minded if they got to know each other a bit more on an intellectual level before jumping head long and moving in together. Learning about Boaz's team was probably one of the highlights for me, and I'm so happy that it looks like each book will be focused on a different couple.
I love dark stories but this didn't really have that feel to me unless you specifically only look at Foster's history. Foster is trying to break away from an abusive partner who just can't seem to let go. He's gone through plenty of trauma and pain and there are some incredibly tough scenes with him. That being said, I wasn't sure how I felt about Foster's interaction with Calix and Boaz which is why I took off a star. I get that they're mates, but there's not a real good understanding of what potentially could trigger Foster. He kind of really needs some therapy yet he kind of just jumps right in and (while yes there are still references to panic attacks) it seems like he's all ok with everything that Calix and Boaz say/do with him. It just felt a bit too effortless if that makes any sense. I think it could've added a bit of tension that would've deepened their need for each other.
Overall, I enjoyed this 10 out of 5 flames book and am looking forward to the next one!
Never thought I would enjoy a story of 3 men finding their HEA but the love, loyalty and trust that was shared between Foster (Baby Vamp), Calix (Green Witch) and Boaz (Demon) was hard to overlook.
They each found what they were looking for and wasn't even looking for it. Foster who has been on the run for 6 months escaping an abusive ex; found love, safety, protection and comfort in Calix and Boaz. Especially when he realized he was a baby Vampire and had no clue until Boaz and Calix helped him understnad the changes he was going through. Calix h8ted his job and the constant harassment by his boss found the ability and confidence to step out on faith, quit his job and start his own business. With Boaz's help, Calix learned how to control his magic and Boaz found his purpose. He offered encouragement, support, protection and love to Calix and Foster because they became his world when he had resigned himself to thinking that he would never find a mate. Fate decided to give him 2.
The dynamic between the three was complex and enduring. The chemistry between them was smoking hot and the love they shared was undeniable. I'm looking forward to the next Fated pair in the series.
"I think we need to celebrate ... First, dick. Then breakfast. More dick. Lunch. Dick again. Fancy dinner. Dick to sleep. The perfect day."
"Den of Escape" is an all male poly novel, and the first in a series of standalones. Even though it's a dark romance, the relationship between Foster, Calix and Boaz is extremely sweet. While I'm usually not a big fan of instalove stories, it works for these men and adds lightness to an otherwise dark storyline. Den of Escape is definitely a book for readers who want their books filled with spice. I'll admit I usually prefer slow to medium burn, and this is definitely an "all systems go" story from the start; the clothes don't stay on for long ...
I like the combination of the different paranormal species in this urban fantasy, and the concept of fated mates among them. There is no push and pull between these characters: they embrace the gift that's been given to them and become a unity against everything that threatens them. I enjoyed the interactions between Foster, Calix and Boaz and their simple and total acceptance of who they are. I'm already excited to see the story of Erebus and Myles unfold in the second book.
I’m a little conflicted on this one. I'd say it lands between 3 and 4 stars, so I gave it a 4.
It’s a MMM fated-mates story, so it moves fast – super fast. Insta-lust, moving in together even though they don’t really know each other or understand each other, immediate high heat/steam, and some BDSM elements that just appeared and became the norm. However, I struggle with calling it a true paranormal story – the paranormal elements were treated almost like they were additional details just thrown in, almost like hair or eye color; also, I’m not sure it was really a dark romance. Sure, there were past events that were dark, but the main timeline of the story wasn’t very dark. Ultimately, it’s a MMM story involving a really dominant guy, a somewhat dominant guy, and a mostly submissive guy who get hot and heavy really fast and have to work through some extraneous events, and there might be a little gratuitous violence.
With all that being said, it was still a fun, entertaining story. High heat, sexy and possessive MCs, a bit of hurt/comfort, and big of violence to keep things interesting.
Den of Escape is the first book in The Den series, which falls into the paranormal romance realm with a poly threesome (throuple?). I thought this book was both incredibly sexy and steamy while also cute and adorable. I love the fated mates and insta-love/lust tropes, so this book was absolutely perfect for me. I really enjoyed that the vampire character (sweet and darling Foster) was not the all-powerful force that vampires are usually made out to be. He’s a young man going through a difficult and tough time before he finds love and protection - (which reminds me – review the triggers to make sure this is the book for you). Boaz and Calix were great – Boaz the demon and Calix the witch – were able to not only find love but to develop and grow in new ways as characters. This was a great start to the series and I’m excited to see the continuous growth and development of the side characters as well as learning more about this interesting world the three men inhabit.
I was impressed with this newer author and her latest entry into the paranormal world. Den of Escape is exactly is that: a location where 3 souls come together and find their escape from all the things plaguing them in their lives. Boaz, Calix, and Foster have an intriguing relationship that I adored. It had a more complex hierarchy than simple D/S, and the thought process to create such an intricate relationship setup is much appreciated. The Daddy Dom Boaz, paired with the dominant Calix who struggles with his own self worth, and the beaten down Foster give us a range of emotions to experience, and you'll find yourself falling in love with each man as their journey continues. Foster's life story is by far the overwhelming plot line with his unknown vampiric abilities and stalker, but keep your eyes sharp for glimpses into Boaz's work as a gate guardian, and the side quest that is Calix's HR harassment nightmare. Den of Corruption is next, and I'm eager to see who is corrupted.
*I received an ARC and writing this review voluntarily*
Holy WOW! Den of Escape is dark and sexy as hell. DOE is a dark, paranormal, why choose, fated mates, romance with all the smut and all the feels. This is the first all male why choose pnr I've read and I'm so glad it was! Juniper comes in hot and heavy with spice (explicit spice) in chapter two and she never dials it down after that. DOE tells the story of Foster, Boaz, and Calix, three men who have nothing in common except the fact that they're fated mates. This book tells the intertwining stories of discovering your people, taking care of YOUR special person, learning to be taken care of/loved, and healing from things you thought made you broken. Check the TW'S and CW's before diving into this world.
The only drawback for me was the language the author used often felt out of place, but it didn't detract from the story.
♥ Foster, Calix and Boaz ♥ Genre: MMM Paranormal Romance Format: E-Book (Kindle Unlimited) Series: The Den # 1
This was my first book by Juniper Cole and I was not disappointed. Den of Escape is a instalove spicy paranormal romance. I have a soft spot for instalove/fated mates pnr. Definite touch him and die vibes as well. In the beginning it is definitely more erotica than plot however as the story moves on you get to know each MC a little better. I am excited to see how the world develops and the other couples that come up. I will definitely be reading the series.
This is a fated mates paranormal romance between three men and it was really good. I loved Foster, Calix, and Boaz. Their romance was quick due to them being fated mates but it worked well for them. I do wish we’d gotten a bit more relationship development but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the characters of their relationships. There is also a good amount of spice which I enjoy and it was a lot of fun to see their connection develop more. There is some darkness in the past of one of the guys which made me want to hug him. The pacing is really good and kept me engaged the entire time. I’m excited to see more of this world and these characters. Definitely an author I want to read a lot more form!
Juniper Cole’s first book in her The Den series was a fast exciting burn that grabbed my attention right from the start. This is the first novel I’ve ever read that just had male characters in a sexy ménage setting and I absolutely loved it! This is also the first time I’ve ever read anything by this author but it certainly won’t be my last. There was plenty of exciting adventure, suspense, mystery, sexy situations that was so riveting I couldn’t put the book down until the very last page. I can’t wait to see what this author has planned for her next book. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
Insta love/fated mates w dark themes! Was entranced from the beginning , probably because the 🌶️ starts out pretty much swinging heavy 😜 I just can’t seem to resist it! I do love a good balance of plot an smut, and while DOE is a little heavier of spice; it didn’t seem to bother me how it has in other books! Maybe because the connection between Foster, Boaz and Calix was literally perfect! Fosters back story is pretty rough, but from the moment he first transformed because he was saving a kitten, I knew he was going to be my favorite! Can’t wait for the other books built in this world introducing more couples
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review, these opinions are all my own!
This was basically paranormal MMM porn with a side of torture and abuse thrown in. I can’t remember the last time I read a paranormal romance with so much violence and abuse against an MC, and not sure I liked it.
I did enjoy the author’s writing style, but found quite a few editing mistakes…lack of commas, missing words, inconsistent tense. The cheesy nicknames started early and never stopped, which was a little too eww for me. Also, I’m not a big fan of the Daddy trope. I liked the book but the speed with which Foster accepted the two men and started calling Bo “daddy” was also a little too ick for me.
I just can't suspend all my disbelief to enjoy DEN OF ESCAPE. The spice is high heat but since these characters know absolutely nothing about each other it feels emotionless and uninteresting.
Foster is only a few months out from a horrifically abusive relationship that has left him with PTSD, anxiety, and panic attacks and he's just going to have sex with a stranger in a club bathroom and then be totally fine with a second guy joining them in the middle? And Calix has never bottomed before but he's immediately agreeing to it with the stranger who walks in on them?
Omg!! 😱 I love love love love this book! Foster - I just wanna cuddle him and protect him and love him Calix - he’d be so much fun to play with! Boaz- Yes DADDY! (Need I say more?)
This book is MMM and hot hot hot!! It’s got touch him and die vibes, demons and witches and vampires! And ooooo I think I know what pairing we will see in the next book and I CANT wait! This is my first Juniper Cole book and I am HOOKED!
Definitely snuck in on my top reads for 2022!!! So excited and thankful I got an ARC!
Foster has escaped an abu$ive relationship when he starts to get panic attacks and becomes a recluse, one night he decides to go for a walk and bumps into the most gorgeous man he’s ever seen. Calix is a witch and is visiting a night club when his life takes a turn, there he meets the most beautiful two men and damn does it get spicy. Boaz is a demon in charge of guarding the Hellgate. I loved this book and the guys relationship developed more through the story. I can't wait to read more from this author and to find out who the next book is about!
Den of Escape is a Paranormal MMM Romance with Fated mates, twisted stalkers and a lot of Love scenes when the guys all come together. It drags you in with a brilliant story, and amazing characters. They have a few challenges to face but Boaz the lead guardian of the Hell Gate is more than willing to take anything on to save and protect his mates. Calix and Foster meet first, but when Boaz sees them in his Club, he is draw to them Demons don't usually find their mates but boy does he! Can't wait to see where the story leads us in the next book about the Hell Gate Guardians xx
Wow, this book blew me away! This is the first book in a new Den series, it's a Paranormal MMM. It follows Calix, Boax and my favorite Foster as they inbark on an amazing poly relationship, with lots of steam, and many laughs as well. In the book they all have some kind of outside issues and realize that they are better together and they each help the other to overcome what has Broughton them together, an abusive ex, a boss that doesn't take No for an answer, and finally finding his fated mates.
Imagine, a Witch, Demon, Vampire as fated mates!! YES PLEASE! Den of Escape is the first book in The Den series. This is also my very first book by Juniper Cole. THIS WAS SOOOOO GOOD!Each book has their own HEA and can be read as a standalone, as each book has different couples! I absolutely adored Calix, Boaz, and Foster soooo much. If you are into fast paced MMM, PNR, fated mates with insta-lust, HOOOOOT steamy times, characters with amazing development fantastic plot is your jam, then I highly recommend this one!
A bit of a mixed bag. While I love the plot, I feel like it wasn't explored as much as it could have been for the sake of including more smut. NOT THAT ITS A BAD THING- the smut is well written and delightful. I just feel like there's so much depth to the characters worlds and experiences that we don't get much more than a glossing over.
It could have been 100 pages longer just expanding on their histories and building their relationship foundations without sex and I think it'd have made it a solid 4 star read.
What an incredible paranormal love story - I am a total sucker for fated mates! To say there is an abundance of chemistry between Bo, Midnight, and Starlight is the understatement of the year. The way Bo & Midnight protect and help Starlight heal is so freaking touching. I adore all three of these men and can not wait to see where the rest of the series takes us! This was the first book by Juniper Cole that I read - and I absolutely plan to read more!
