This book was supposed to be for kids.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, I am almost 32 and I read it for me.
Sweater Weather is gentle, cozy, low-stakes, and wrapped in the emotional equivalent of a soft jumper you forgot you loved. Nothing terrible happens. No one is trying to teach you a big life lesson with a hammer. It just… exists. Calmly. Kindly. And honestly, that’s exactly what I needed.
Reading this felt like a small act of re-parenting myself — choosing warmth, safety, and softness instead of forcing myself through something “serious” or “age-appropriate.” It reminded me that comfort doesn’t expire, and that it’s okay to choose a book that makes your shoulders drop instead of your brain work overtime.
There’s something deeply healing about a story that assumes the world can be kind, dogs are good, sweaters are important, and everything doesn’t have to be a metaphor for suffering. Revolutionary stuff, really.
Minus one star only because it ended and I briefly considered refusing to re-enter adulthood.
Would highly recommend — especially if you are tired, nostalgic, emotionally fried, or quietly rebuilding yourself with small, gentle choices.

This wasn’t a favorite of the series for me, but my kids enjoyed it. It showed that each friend had different strengths and weaknesses. I didn’t enjoy that one of the characters made a big mess and destroyed the farm, but there wasn’t really any reprimand or correction since it was a crow and “that’s just expected of them”.
