Scale-clad demon beasts stalk across Avillea, roaming the streets of Hollowick and the sprawling countryside beyond. Down by the borders the Yordish war begins to swell. Davon Wicksted, one-time king of Avillea now a fugitive in his own country, knows it is his responsibility to quell both.Without the throne or crown though, he only has one option get to First Camp and try to ally with the rebels he has hunted through his reign.
Hardly ideal, but when you’re fighting demons, sometimes you must make a devil’s bargain...
Ahhhh! This book was so great, but now I’ve finished it and I don’t know how long I have to wait for the next!
Prowler takes everything that was introduced in Felgrim and ramps up the stakes, action, intrigue and danger. Once again I loved Bissy best, then Polita. Their stories went in unexpected directions and I can’t wait to read what happens next to these resourceful women.
I loved learning more about ‘the old ways’ and the history of the kingdom. The world building is so strong and more details are given out at exactly the right time to strengthen the characters and plot.
I had certain guesses after Felgrim, which I was glad to see were correct, but so many exciting things happened in Prowler that I did not see coming and I consider that a good thing. I am now very afraid that there will be no happy resolution for my favorite characters. The author has crafted a world that is much too realistic for easy answers, and I can’t wait to find out how the trilogy will end.
I had the lovely opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book! As a big fan of the first, I was excited to get my hands on the sequel. Worldbuilding and characters are top-notch and learning more about them was a treat. Can’t wait for the next book!
Absolutely loved this book! Builds on the promise of the first in the trilogy, Felgrim, and develops the world and characters in interesting ways. If you like immersive worldbuilding and compelling, complicated characters, then I highly recommend Prowler. Can't wait for the final part of the trilogy, it can't come soon enough!
What an amazing follow up to Felgrim! This one was even better than Book One. As a second book in a trilogy, this is less plot and more setting up the final events of the story, but as someone who doesn't always love plot, I found this to be so compelling. The politics of the world, the way characters show their true colours, the way everything is gearing up for what I know will be an amazing finale!!!
The character development is amazing. The previously hardened characters are given the opportunity to be soft, to feel emotions, to connect with others. The previously soft characters take back their power, they really come into their own. One character, who in Book 1 I didn't really like, has become such a boss ass bitch that I was cheering for her the entire time. Not only has she become a leader and a fighter, but she maintains her emotional side, her ability to empathise and sympathise with others. I am so excited to see where her story goes.
I love the relationship that forms between two of the characters. It's just enough romance for a romance lover like me, but it in no way takes away from the high fantasy plot. And as someone who loves sad boys, I am so here for this ship.
I can't wait to read book 3! The set up for it has really set my expectations high, but after reading this, I have no doubt Duffield-Fuller is going to absolutely blow my mind at the end of this series.
