When rebellion threatens the land, Vixhana Rauhalik is sent with a team to assassinate an exiled king before he can return and revive his evil reign.
As a novice battlemage on trial to join the elite Order of Nightwraiths, Vixhana has proven herself a prodigy with the sword and dagger and perfected every technique of sorcerous deception along her journey toward her goal.
But when her team is compromised on what should be her final test, she must face the deadly assassin that destroyed her team and reach her target to complete the mission alone.
J.T. Moy once had serious jobs before realizing no matter how much he dabbled in other people’s lives, he couldn’t turn them into lightning mages or dragon-fighting warriors. He now brings heroic characters to life in epic stories. Living in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife and children, he enjoys video games, archery, and sea monkeys.
Assassin's Oath is a Prequel for The Stormcrafter Chronicles by J T Moy. I enjoyed this short prequel. I enjoyed getting the background of Virhana. The story is filled with action and betrayal. I always enjoy having a foundation for an excellent series. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
An assassin who is starting to have a conscience. This was a nice read full of action from start to finish. Vixhana always follows the rules, but when her target is a child she rethinks how far she’s willing to go. I wish this book would have been a little longer, I would have loved more buildup and hints as to who was going to betray the Order. The fact that the betrayer didn’t kill her when he could have didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I’m not sure what his plan was for her. This was a great read and I will be looking for more books from this author. I received a free copy of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
Vixhana determine to earn her (blood dagger) because she only a Novice proves them wrong. Betrayal of one of their own was surprising. On the quest that was set before her was difficult knowing she was supposed to kill the king which turned out to be just a boy. With a change of heart, she helps the King(boy) escape, but all things don't go as smoothly as they should have. Lots of intense moments.
This novella follows Vixhana, an assassin who is sent on a top secret mission. This book includes fantastical abilities, a main character you care about and a story that actually has twists and turns despite it being so short (less than 100 pages). The writing style was very engaging and I found myself really understanding the action sequences, which I sometimes struggle with. It is quite dark in topic and felt quite gritty which I liked a lot.
The only reason I rounded down was because I wanted it to be longer. I was so glad to see that this novella was part of a larger world and that the other two books are on Kindle Unlimited as I plan to read those for sure.

This was a short story where you are introduced to Vixhana who wants to earn the blood dagger. She is part of the Oath of Nightwraiths, the king's assassins. She is sent of her first mission and will receive the dagger if she completes the assassination. She is challenged with opposition, deception, and has to learn to trust her instincts instead of rules of engagement. This was a good book. This is a good short, quick prequel to a larger series. Where we are following our main character as she tries to earn her blood dagger. I enjoyed twists of the plot, and the writing was easy to follow. I felt that it was slightly too short to get into the full extent of people’s motivations. However, it is a very good place to start and introduce me to continue on with the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed the world that J.T. Moy created. The book was quite short, yet, was able to introduced a strong female Warrior that makes you want to read more of her adventures. The writing was stylish and the battles realistic. I would recommend this to fans of fantasy. I received a free copy and chose to leave a honest review.
This is a prequel to the series and sucks you in pretty quickly with adventures, magic and betrayal. Definitely looking up the remainder of the series.
