A Manny for Christmas

Rate this book
MOLLY
Single parenting is not what Nancy Meyers made it out to be. There isn’t a hydrangea or hot younger doctor in sight. Not even a charming widower with an improbably festive home.
Instead, my life is all flaky ex-husband, messy kitchen, grimy (if gorgeous) kids, and an alarm call at the arse-crack of dawn each day.
To top it off, I have no childcare.
I’m desperate.
But not desperate enough to let my sexy, I-never-want-kids ex-boyfriend step up as my new live-in manny.
Right?

MAX
Irony is not rain on your wedding day.
No, it’s finding yourself shacking up with your ex to be the manny to her children.
That’s the ex who walked twelve years ago when I refused to give her kids.
The ex whose beauty is more breathtaking than ever.
Maybe that’s not ironic.
Maybe that's just karma being a complete and utter bitch.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s a second chance at first love… if I can only ‘manny up’.

A Manny for Christmas is a delicious standalone holiday romance featuring second chances, a dreamboat manny, and a couple of adorable kids who’ll make him question everything. Oh, and it’s the spiciest Sorrel Farm book yet!

I like to change things up! I spent my 20s as a banker and my 30s bringing up small children and running my own fashion brand (Madderson London).

Now, aged 43, I find myself writing, and I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.

I’ve always loved writing. My daughter Tilly has an old notebook of mine filled with half-finished stories and accompanying drawings. I’ve read for as long as I can remember, guzzling up books so quickly that my mum always protested that I couldn’t be reading them properly. You can see my original, dog-eared version of A Little Princess in my photo. Its protagonist, Sara Crewe, is one of my all-time favourite heroines (alongside Anne Shirley, naturally).

I published my first book, Metamorphosis, in February 2020, right before lockdown happened. It’s a non-fiction book about escaping from our cocoons and living as a butterfly. As lockdown progressed, I found escapism in devouring lots of delicious chick-lit (for want of a better title) and I realised I had a few novels in me too. I have loved every single minute of writing them.

I’ve published my books independently, and I love the freedom it provides. The world of independent publishing is fascinating and so empowering—I’m delighted to share more of my experiences of self-publishing if you’re interested.

Per usual... I LOVED the novel this author put out. Sara was not joking when she said this was her spiciest story yet.

I am not one for single parent tropes, family tropes, or second chances... However, I ate this book up. I could not put it down and actually finished it in the span of like 4 hours. It was funny, so sweet, definitely spicy, and gave me all the Christmas feels. It turned even my bitter heart into a single parent/second chance trope lover, which is very hard to do.

I received this as an ARC from the author and I truly mean it when I say I have not read one of her books that I did not like. This one is now contending for my new favorite because Sara outdoes herself with every release. Loved this one and highly recommend!

Last year one of my favorite holiday reads was “A Very London Christmas.” I was super thrilled to hear Sara Madderson was writing another holiday romance. If you love second chances and need something to make you laugh and swoon-this one is for you! Molly has loved Max, well, for forever. Molly thought Max was “the one” but he didn’t want children and she did. They break up, but she’s never forgotten him. Over a decade later, Molly is a divorced mother of two and needs a nanny for the short term. She’s the pastry chef at Sorrel Farms, owned by none other than Angus Rutherford…Max’s brother. I’m sure you see where this is going. It sure is fun to see Max fall for not only the kids, but realize Molly never truly left his heart. This one is angsty, steamy, and super cute too. Mollys two kids are adorable and the interaction between new manny Max and Daisy is pretty hilarious. It’s a light, easy, and swoony read. A Very London Christmas will still hold the number one spot for me regarding Sara Madderson’s books and if you haven’t yet read that one check it out. Then, go pick up A Manny For Christmas and enjoy the love story that is Molly and Max. 4/5 stars

first and foremost was his hyperfixation on her hair really necessary?

also, it bothered me how one chapter he was having a bunch of problems dealing with the kids and the next all was fine and dainty. like huh? give me the development!!!!

well, i should’ve known a book with both mcs being blonde wouldn’t be out of this world amazing…

however! i enjoyed max’s relationship with the kids and seeing him get paternal feelings towards them, and them getting attached to him. and since i’m a sucker for kids in books this is the sole reason it’s a 3 stars and not a 2.

I want a Manny for Christmas and I don’t even have kids!

December 2024: I don’t know how many times I’ve read this delightful book, but it’s at least four times now, I’m certain I will read it many, many times more. It’s a grossly underrated book and I highly recommend you have a read, if you live a second chance romance. After all, don’t we all deserve a chance at Christmas?!

I just did my now annual reread of A Manny For Christmas and it’s as good the third time as it was the first time. No, scratch that… it gets better each time!

I’ve come back around to the end of Sara Madderson’s Sorrel Farms series — A Manny for Christmas. I initially read (and loved it) during the holiday season, but it stands the test of the January blues just fine. I loved Max and Molly together so much, I want to be their neighbour so I can continue to perv into their life!

This story, the most recent book in the Sorrel Farm series, has all the feels both for the place and the people I’ve come to love so much. Although each book is a standalone, I like to read them in order as this one has all the characters we’ve met so far in it. I may have heard that there will be more… How could author Sara Madderson not keep this going?

This time I loved the opening scene where all the women from Sorrel Farms gather, get rather tipsy on wine and talk about their men. It’s such a fun way to recap with so many female main characters from both the Sorrel Farm and Love in London series. Who’s had babies, who got married, who’s doing which career. I never want to let any of them go and it’s one of my favourite aspects of Sara’s books that they are so intertwined with each other and genuinely like each other.

Ooooo, and who knew Angus was such a freaking matchmaker?! He was very intent on having Max help out with childcare for Molly. Big brother knows best, I guess! Perhaps for the comeuppance he receives, the first morning he gets the kids up. The lego, Daisy and the tights (full stop). So much fun!

Of course their attraction is instantaneous, but when it finally comes together… well, let’s just say it’s a good thing Max decides to change the living room rug, because ouch!

I love that Molly stands firm about how she comes as a package deal and that he can’t just be with her and not be a father to her kids. How Max proves his worthiness to be part of her family is so spontaneous and genuine. Read this freaking book! You will not regret it!

Why I started this favourite passage, I don’t know. This time I highlighted 36 passages in the book and I was holding myself back from highlighting entire chapters! Grrr… there are so many quotables it’s ridunculous! The first morning he's with the kids I laughed so hard. When he’s so jealous of her date, when he gives her a face massage for her sinus headache. Swoon… But, the moment Max realizes the depth of his feelings for Molly and what it means he has to do…

“So if I want to treat her like a queen, I’ll have to be content to do so in a way that actually makes her life better, not worse. Less cockblocking, more showing up and helping. Like this morning.

Something shifted for me last night. If I’m honest, I don’t just want to help her. I want to see if this is something I can do. If I can dig deep and be the man to give her what she’s always wanted from me. Because I’m under no illusions. If I can’t, I don’t stand a chance with her. And I don’t think I can bear to walk away from her again."

Sigh… see what I mean?

Absolutely wonderful!
I loved every single word of this book! Max and Molly’s second chance romance had my heart all aflutter throughout the whole story! And those kids! Tobes and Daze were the most precocious children ever, and the most endearing. The author infuses so much longing into her writing I had trouble catching my breath a few times, and her enchanting Christmas settings made me swoon. This is an interconnected book in the Sorrel Farm series, but I read it as a stand-alone and it only made me want to dive right back to the beginning.

Ok, this was just about as perfect as a Christmas story can get. I love a good second chance and, boy, this one takes the first place trophy. Everything about this story is just really wonderful. Throw in the fact that this book is maturely written and the main characters have unconsciously been pining for each other for YEARS, and I’m just over the moon about this story. 5 glowing Christmas stars!

I wasn't one for holiday books until about a year ago when @saramaddersonauthor sent me a copy of her book A Very London Christmas. I fell in love with Miles and Saoirse's story and knew I was, in fact, a fan of the genre. So when she talked about her new book, A Manny for Christmas, I knew I'd have to get my hands on it and I'm SO glad I did. What a perfect way to kick off November and the holiday season.

Poor Molly is doing it all and struggling at that. Her husband of twelve years left her and their two kids, eight year old Toby and four year old Daisy, so that he could travel the world and paint. Now, Molly bakes at Sorrel Farm and has to be up at the crack of dawn to start work. It wouldn't be so bad if her nanny hadn't just given her notice, but poor Mol is hanging on by a thread these days. With the holidays coming up, it's just another thing for her to deal with alongside the family's first holiday without her ex husband. Enter Max, Molly's ex boyfriend and love of her life, who happens to be the farm manager Angus's little brother. Angus doesn't have a place for Max to stay so he proposes Max help Molly out by nannying for the kids in the morning so she can get off to work and he's got a place to stay. Between a rock and a hard spot, the two reluctantly agree to give it a go and turns out, their chemistry is still there. Chemistry was never their issue though. Max didn't want kids and that's why Molly made the tough decision to leave him. Now that he's back, has anything changed?

This had me cracking up reading Max's interactions with Daisy and Toby, but especially Daisy. There were so many things I think we parents experience and think that were portrayed so accurately here it had me in stitches. Second chance romance isn't usually my thing, but I enjoyed the way this didn't follow the typical rom com third act we've all come to know and anticipate. The descriptions were sumptuous and it was wonderful to be back in the beauty of Sorrel Farm if just for a while.

Let down

I loved the idea of this book. But it fell flat for me. I would have given it 2.5 stars if I could.

It was sold as a Christmas story but it did not feel Christmasy to me. Just saying they were listening to Christmas music is not enough to make it a Christmas book.

The kids were the best part of this book. I kinda felt the connection between the two main characters. I was just hoping for more with this book.

This is really cute, I love a second chance trope. But there were a few things I struggled with in this:
There were so many peripheral characters, that have obviously had their own story written, but it was too much at times.
There was so much rambling. A question was asked… two pages of thought and contemplation, then the answer… which I’ve now forgotten what the question was.
All the chatter about her hair was weird.

This book was equally parts sweet and boring. It was incredibly hard to stay engaged and once I hit 50% I was ready for the book to be over. 😵‍💫 Max’s obsession with Molly’s hair creeped me the f out. 🤪 There wasn’t anything special about this story, I’d pass on this Christmas book!

Oops, she did it again: another great story from this author. Why is she not a bigger hit? I need some answers.

What I liked about this book:

The characters. He was a NICE person... I know it's not in fashion, everyone writes bad boy heroes, manhoes and alpha jerks these days but give me a Max any day, someone who proves his love by actions every day that ends in Y.

Molly and Max used to live together but she wanted children, he didn't. Flash forward twelve years, she has married and divorced someone else, and now she is a single mother of two. Her job at the Sorrel Farm requires early mornings and she needs somebody to help with the kids. Max has spent years in Africa, building wells and that sort of thing. Now he's back in England for Christmas and mutual acquaintances suggest they could help each other out: he gets a roof over his head and she gets a temporary manny. They are both wary because their separation years earlier broke both their hearts and this time they could end up worse. But Max was never a commitment phobe or a child hater, it was mostly that he was happy with Molly and afraid of everything that could go wrong if anything changed. Now that Molly's children are there in reality, he is quite fond of them. Daisy is a four-year-old firecracker, Toby is her older brother and a ball of anxiety. Due to their past history, Molly is worried about Max leaving just as she or the kids got attached to him, and if Max wants a chance with Molly he needs to prove that he can stand up and show up, be there for them and find his paternal instincts.

Oh my and does he show up! This man is a complete dish: sexy, funny, good with children, good with Molly... He goes viral defending one of the kids. And he defrosts her car windows, without being asked. He is 99 % perfect book boyfriend, all he needs is a puppy.

The plot: The central conflict is about the two characters and what they want for their future. There are no stupid fights because of stupid misunderstandings. Third parties drama is kept to a minimum. Molly's husband has abdicated his duties, Max has no real interest in any other woman, and Molly has a brief flirtation with Not-Max but it cannot last. Why? Because he is Not-Max.

The writing style: polished, witty and full of feels.

Steam level: They have years of longing to make up for.

What I didn't like: Gonna be a short list.

Series status: This romance stands alone but if you've read the other books about the Sorrel Farm people you will find a lot of revisitation of familiar characters, and it's all good news. (Spoiler alert: They're all still hot and still happy.) If you haven't read the other books you might find some of this to be extraneous detail about minor characters.

I received a free copy of this book and this is a voluntary review.

I love a second chance romance so much. As always Sara wrote a wonderful story full of all of her other characters and their stories! Molly and her family aren’t quite as fancy as the other stories I’ve read by Sara, but it was just as magical!

Molly wanted kids, and Max didn’t and that was the downfall of their relationship. And now fifteen years later, after Molly’s been married, had two kids, and now divorced they’re thrown together. Max is visiting his brother, and his brother suggests that he helps out Molly with her childcare problem. Sure, why wouldn’t the guy that never wanted kids help out??

I loved Max and Molly so much. I loved how much they loved each other. That was clear the entire time. Even when they’d talk about the reason they broke up, they both knew it was the right choice, the only choice. They both were able to get what they wanted out of life, except each other of course.

It was a little rough in the first half; it felt like all the talked about was how much Max didn’t want kids, how much Molly did, and Max’s obsession with Molly’s hair! I was having a really hard time seeing how they were going to get past the whole kid thing, especially since there were actual kids at stake? I was so scared that they were all going to get attached and be this whole sweet family unit and then have it come crashing down - and I was scared of what would happen after that. But spoiler alert there was no third act break up which is absolutely my favorite. Sometimes it’s necessary sure, but it worked PERFECTLY here.

I loved Max with Molly’s kids. Toby and Daisy were absolutely perfect. They him made question everything and really realize what he had missed. While he was with what his life had been, he’s wants the three of them to his life now. And he’s not doing it just for Molly, he’s doing it for the kids! It was so sweet.

I felt a little more left out, since this is part of a series and I haven’t read the others. But that’s not to say it doesn’t read well as a stand-alone! Because it does, there’s enough background information and context! But since everyone is so involved on the farm and around all the time, I was just feeling a little left out! I did like seeing and hearing about the characters I did know though!!

Thanks so much to Sara Madderson for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

(3.5⭐️ rounded up just because I struggled a with the first half)

This is my second read of a Sara Madderson work and I am all in for this author. In A Manny for Christmas, Sara did an excellent job in developing the back story of her MMC and MFC. I found myself bogged down up front in trying to remember all of the MFC's friends and spouses and children. It is important to keep these characters in your mind but there is plenty of repetition of their information so you don't need to memorize it all up front. Additionally, these are characters from her other works, which I now intend to binge. So much for changing genres in 2025!!! lol

Max and Molly were in love years prior but his aversion to having children drove them apart. Twelve years later, they find themselves under the same roof and the fireworks ignite. Madderson did an excellent job in building the tension between the characters with a well-developed back story. Throughout the story, I was expecting the standard "we can't be together" heart crushing moment when the main characters end the relationship (only to get back together later, but still) and I was so delighted when that didn't take place. Max and Molly simply worked at reuniting and moving forward with their second chance, despite his return not being predicated on even running into her.

The steamy scenes were not plopped into the story line for the sake of having a steamy scene. They made sense within the story and they were H.O.T. As I drifted off to sleep last night having finished this book, I let out that wanting sigh of "I wish I could find me a Max." For me, that's when I know I've read a good book.

Madderson did a great job in shoring up all of the tangential story lines with the various characters that were introduced. I really appreciated your attention to detail with Paul's interactions with Molly. What a nice way to close out that part of the story without leaving a big ole gap in the story line.

Finally, I want to highlight that Madderson did a great job handling some difficult topics: divorce, single parenting, adult abandonment, child abandonment, desire for children, lack of desire for children, adult dating and all the awkwardness that comes with it, bullying, boundaries, and standing up for others. #hotdadrant #maxdidgood

Sara Madderson has done it again! I could not put this down and devoured it in a single day. The quality of the writing, the story and characters is top tier and this book delivers a delicious second chance rom-com with lots of emotion, fun and spice!

Molly and Max were a couple for 4-years but parted ways over a decade ago because of one major difference in what they wanted in their future. The story starts when they are about to meet again after 12 years apart and circumstances and mutual acquaintances have them in the same place at the same time.

Max finds out that Molly is recently divorced and has two children, and she is need of some help with the kids over the festive period. Max needs somewhere to stay as he is back in England. With a bit of meddling from his brother, Max gets somewhere to stay and Molly gets help with the kids.

This is where the importance of the characters that Sara creates in her stories comes in. Max is a good person, he is yummy with a bit of alpha "I'll help you" vibe. Molly is a realistic, single mum juggling lots of things. The kids are kids, with relatable issues and personalities that bring the story alive, make you giggle and I fell in love with all four of them.

Considering their history, Molly and Max carefully navigate around each other to start with, they are familiar but with so much time apart and different lives, both look to protect themselves from getting too close. But love was never their problem, chemistry was never their problem and both are too strong to be ignored. When Max makes it clear how he feels, how real this is and how much he loves Molly, wow! What Max has to prove is that he loves her kids too, that they are also his world and not just because he loves Molly. And OMG does Max do this, he is all in and he steps up.

I love Molly as a mum and how she navigates her own desires and heart to make sure her kids are at the very centre. My goodness do I love Max, he is sexy and passionate, but also a partner, a stepdad and a carer. He does so many little things that really show the man he is.

There is no miscommunication or unnecessary drama because it wouldn't fit the story or the characters, I love this authenticity.

There is lots of beautifully written, hot hot hot spice in this book. There are gorgeous moments that give butterflies. There are brilliant familiar characters from Sara's other books and lots of banter. The subtle touches threaded through the book, the setting, the food, the cookery details build such a wonderful backdrop you get completely immersed in.

This is one of my favourite reads of the year and another masterclass from Sara on this genre.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.

"A Manny for Christmas" is a delightful read for anyone who's a fan of holiday reads, second chance romances and/or the nanny/boss trope (with a twist).

The book opens with a scene of Max and Molly in the past before jumping into the present day. Max and Molly loved each other with all their hearts, but Molly truly yearned for children while Max did not. The disconnect became a dealbreaker, and the two went their separate ways.

In the present day, Max is a globetrotter with an altruistic side but feels as if something's missing. Molly is a baker on a working organic farm compound, where she also lives. The youngest of three brothers, Max visits his middle brother, Angus, during the Christmas holidays at this same farm. Unfortunately, there's not enough beds, but Angus has a solution: have Max act as a short-term manny for Molly's two young children after her current nanny leaves.

At first, both Max and Molly balk but quickly realize that it's their only respective option. As the story progresses, we see that Max quickly adapts to being a manny and grows to love the children. He also discovers what's missing: a life with Molly. Molly is reluctant to believe in such a change. Not only must she again protect her heart from Max, but she has children to consider as well.

Sara Madderson writes a second-chance story well. Her characters are well-rounded but flawed. They have real-life challenges and must find a way to resolve them and grow as individuals before growing as a couple. The scenes are descriptive and there's no repetition. While "Manny" is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I plan to go back and read the other books in the series as the secondary characters add to the overall enjoyment of "A Manny for Christmas".

I was lucky to receive this new book from Sara as a free ARC and this is my own personal review of A Manny for Christmas.

This may be my new favourite book from Sara. I will be reading it again as there are so many scenes I adored and laughed out loud to.
This is the story of Molly & Max, who have a history. But after 12 years and very different lives will there still be any sparkle? Molly is now an exhausted mother with children and responsibilities, working at the delightful Sorrel Farm as their Pastry Chef. Early mornings are brutal and her nanny is leaving. Enter Max who has just returned home from working abroad and hoping to stay with his brother Angus (Angus & Evelyn from Food for Thought). But with no room at Angus & Evelyn’s, Max needs somewhere to stay. Angus comes up with a plan that solves Molly’s nanny problem and Max’s living crisis. Max can be Mollys nanny, or manny! From the moment they clap eyes on each other the tension is fizzing in the air. Can Max cope with the children? He’s not a father. Never wanted kids of his own. Can he prove to Molly that she can depend on him? All the while Molly is trying to keep a lid on her emotions. Very hard when Max wanders into the kitchen, topless, wearing only his jeans. This is one steamy story, with a lot of action in the kitchen. (One is the best scenes in the book happens in the kitchen). With ‘Sorrel Farm at Christmas’ as your backdrop and all the magic of the festive season enveloping you like a soft cashmere blanket, (not forgetting all the characters you love from Sara’s previous stories twinkling throughout) it’s a fabulous Christmas romp! Enjoy!!

I have become so enchanted with this author, I mean seriously her books are to swoon for. This one especially and A London Christmas. So full of the holidays, beautiful descriptions and her FMC are always forthright and strong and her MMC are definitely book boyfriend material, so swoony and Molly and Max are no different.
This is an ex lovers to new lovers romance, second chance romance. Slow burn but if you like a bit of smut then you are in the right place for sure. And what is better is it doesn't over-ride the book or the story it's not page after page.
Molly is struggling holding down a busy FT job and looking after her two kids Tobes + Daisy.
Max has just returned from charity work in Africa and is at a lose end when his brother, Angus suggests he acts as a Manny for his ex, Molly. Max balks at the idea but has no choice he needs somewhere to stay and a bit of work so being a Manny to Moll's kids is the only option right before Christmas.
Whilst these two try to avoid each other and not allow their first time round feelings to surface, it all gets a little bit forgotten.
This is the delight of all Christmas books and I love that it is about a Manny instead of the usual Nanny romances that are floating around right now. Why this hasn't been a TikTok sensation is beyond me because I'd shout its praises from the rooftops.
It's got all the Hallmark, Holiday vibes you could want, leaves you content and cosy and the characters are just amazing. I absolutely loved them both.

Sweet & Spicy perfect second chance romance

Max & Molly are everything! I swear every book I read from Elodie (Sara) is flipping magic! I just adore these two. They were perfect together the first go but ultimately ended their relationship when Molly wants kids and Max absolutely doesn’t. Now, twelve years later, Molly is divorced and single parenting her two kiddos while working as the pastry chef at Sorrel Farm. Max is visiting his big brother Angus who co-owns/runs Sorrel Farm for six weeks around the Christmas holidays on break from his work with WaterAid in Malawi. Molly needs a nanny for the kids as her au pair is departing g without much notice. Angus has the perfect solution: let Max be the manny for the six weeks he’s visiting the UK, surely he and Molly are adult enough to be cordial and he gets a place to stay while she gets help with her kids. Both Mac and Molly are I initially against it but then concede it would work. Sparks immediately fly but they hold out as long as they can before giving in, Molly not holding out hope for anything past a fling since he was so anti-kids. But as they continue to reacquaint themselves with each other spicily & sweetly they both start to realize they never stopped loving each other & Max realizes he’s fallen for her two kiddos. They get the HEA after twelve years apart and it is so sweet and well earned. I loved their whole story and how much they both looked out for Tobey & Daisy, it was perfect!

I loved this second chance romance!
Molly is a single mom who finally has the chance to make her mark career wise using her culinary skills to create an incomparable holiday ambience.

There’s only one hitch—- it means long hours and she no longer has someone to help out.

The solution her friend and employer comes up with is his brother Max.

Molly thinks it’s a terrible idea because 12 years ago she and Max ended their relationship over her dream of having kids and his insistence that he never wanted to take that on.

The sparks are still there and she’s pretty close to convincing herself she can indulge in chasing some o’s with her new manny. Until he has a heart to heart with her son about bullying, and cuddles her daughter to sleep. Until he tells her repeatedly how in awe of her he is, and gives her a quiet afternoon of champagne and naps and slow, luxurious love making.

Until #hotdadrant. And that’s when she knows there’s no turning back or shutting it down like a leaky faucet.

That’s the final proof that Max has truly changed. That he confronted his insecurities and triumphed over them. That he finally understands the blessings and the burdens of being a parent.

A wonderful, realistic portrayal of all the frustrations and joys of raising kids in the modern age. A spicy spicy love story that would melt even the Grinch’s heart.

Sara Madderson never disappoints me. I’ve read several of her books this year and have loved them all. It was nice to see some familiar faces in this book and it has solidified my need to read the rest of her backlog.

Molly is a single mother working as a chef at Sorrel Farm. Her ex-husband left her a year ago and she is left with no childcare when her au-pair leaves. Max is Molly’s ex from twelve years ago, they ended things because he didn’t want to be a father and she wanted kids. They had a clean break and haven’t seen each other since, but Max’s brother is the owner of Sorrel Farm and when Max visits thinking he can stay with his brother for a few weeks, he is put in a situation he could never have dreamed of. Max’s brother’s house is being refurbished so he has no space to put him up, but he suggests Max be Molly’s live in manny and help out with the childcare for the next few weeks.

As you can imagine there is a lot of tension and unfinished business between Molly and Max, and I for one, loved it. The tension was written perfectly and I couldn’t help but fall for these two. I loved the growing relationship Max built with Molly’s children and I couldn’t help but swoon over his patience and growing love for them. This book was the perfect Christmas read; it had all the magic and romance I needed!

This is definitely a fun steamy read and I couldn’t recommend it more!

A Manny for Christmas
@elodiehart

Ohh what a great holiday romance!
Elodie Hart ticked all the boxes with this one.

This was spicy, angsty, cute and just so wholesome.

🌶️ The spice in this was delicious especially by the 🔥.

🍋Molly’s kids Toby and Daisy were the best. So endearing and precious.

🍋I feel this shows a true depiction of motherhood and what single parenthood would/ may be like.

Max - Stepping on Lego or do you need to “take a leak”. lol

Words that linger:

🍋”Is it normal to feel like you need a drink after the school run?” -Max.

🍋”Molly doesn’t deserve your particular brand of 💩. She has enough on her plate.” -Angus

🍋”the guy appears to be the love child of mother Teresa and Magic Mike.” - Molly

🍋”I’m not desperate. I’m not broken. I’m still strong enough to walk away from the man I love most in the world— have always loved most in the world- if he’s not the right fit for our little family.” -Molly

🍋”You know, so often I tell you guys to be quiet. Behave. Don’t cause a scene. Don’t inconvenience other people. Well, what Max did was completely the opposite. I am so proud of him for doing that my heart could burst.” -Molly

🍋Every single time with her feels new. -Max

Tropes:
🍋Christmas romance
🍋Second Chance
🍋Forced Proximity
🍋Found family
🍋Small town
🍋Single Parent

🍋I want to see the gingerbread village for real life. 😉

Molly and Max

I devoured this second chance, steamy novel from Sara Madderson. She's a relatively new author to me, but after reading this book I've decided to hit up her backlist.
The way Sara writes her stories ...they're very easy to read. You get caught up in the lives of her characters, becoming attached to them, immersing yourself into the story.
Max and Molly were together for 4 years before they broke up. Twelve years ago. Because she wanted children and he did not. They were very much in love but Molly couldn't compromise on this issue and she didn't want to ask Max to compromise on his stance either. Molly left Max.
The way they meet up again after twelve years is a very creative meet cute. The growth that Max experiences during his chapters is profound, and is done in such a way that he never sees it coming.
The scenes between Molly and Max are emotionally charged and very hot.
It was the perfect Christmas read with very little angst. It was a grown up story all the way.
I'm off to read some more about Sorrel Farm. Thank you to Sara Madderson for conceiving the concept of this farm and the people who live and work there. There can be a ton of stories left with some of the secondary characters!
Paul Lancaster anyone?

It’s not a secret that Sara Madderson is one of my favourite authors and this book once again proves the reason why. This is the prefect Christmas read. It’s extremely cute, sweet and HOT! And here I find myself, again, completely and utterly in love with a man written by her. Please Sara stop giving me expectations that no men in real life can meet. I BEG OF YOU! I’m usually not a fan of second chance romance, mostly because I’m a sucker for falling in love from zero but this one was my perfect fit for second chance, and like she promised THERE IS NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP! Loved that because I hate that in books and this made me soooooo happy. And the spice in this? PERFECT AS ALWAYS! I don’t know what else can I say to make you guys go and read this book. If you don’t go pick it up immediately it is your loss. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 😉
Ps. I need a book about Paul Lancaster pretty please? He was so sweet and charming and I need to read him getting his HEA.
I received this book in exchange of my honest review.
