Evan is the reclusive librarian of Honeycutt Academy, and a source of curiosity among students and staff—most notably the bubbly potions teacher. With her by their side, Evan is willing to give love another shot and move on from a devastating breakup.
But the discovery of a half-sibling invites trouble into Evan's quiet life, reuniting them with an old flame and stirring up bitter memories of their past.
Also includes intimate (and mutual) blood drinking and a patricide subplot.
Hello! I'm Eggler, a black, queer, and autistic novelist.
I primarily write sapphic paranormal romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Most of my stories include supernatural creatures, such as vampires and shapeshifters, as I find these creatures highly fascinating. My characters, or at least the protagonists are always neurodiverse in some form (ADHD, autism, bipolar, OCD, etc.), and are queer and black.
I am scratching my head at this book. Evan is such an interesting protagonist but what was this plot. What wasn't this plot. I truly don't understand how this book passed me by because the premise? Gold. The diverse cast? Great! The world? Can totally get down with that. This was just a collection of things happening, but I could not find a reason as for why.
It's a little awkward when you are reading a PNR and the protagonist doesn't seem to want to be romantically involved with one of their love interests. I can understand having apprehensions and not being the perfect match but I felt they were too much of a mismatch between Mimi and Evan to ever work and Evan even implied And both relationships moved at such an odd pace.
