For Max Tyco nothing has been the same since he was taken from Earth and introduced to the Rowki. Chosen for his depth of potential a new twist has changed everything. Max's weapon, the sardonium he can control with his mind, has turned a shade of red designated for only the fiercest of warriors.
Unsure how to control this newfound power driven from a place of rage, Max must seek the only living warrior to experience this before. Roman, was the Rowki's fiercest champion until one day, eleven years ago, he vanished to the edge of the galaxy.
Max's journey to find Roman will take him to a backwater planet with its own set of problems. The Galactic Government has abandoned this planet and terrifying creatures lurk under the surface. If Max is going to find Roman, harness his new ability and aid the local population he's going to have to dig deeper than he ever has before and find a way to overcome.

This is the kind of story I was hoping for with this series - Max going to a random planet on a "quest" and having an open and shut story but part of the larger plot. I appreciate a lot of what this story has to tell, and Max is getting stronger by the day.
The one thing that kind of bugs me is that Max is still only using his staff, why not train with another type of weapon? I hope he becomes proficient with other weapons in the future.
The previous book ended in a way that made me somewhat eager to read this one but unfortunately it turned out to become, in my opinion, a wasted opportunity. I was hoping that finding this Rowki named Roman would be more of a Yoda experience but as it turned out the guy was nothing like that. I will not go into details (spoilers and all that) but I was quite disappointed.
The rest of the book, although it have lots of the usual banter and action was more of a side story really. Yes there were some minor character development but it did not really bring about much in terms of moving forward some main story arc really.
It was more a story were Max was sidetracked and had to solve some local problems before moving on. Yes he did pick up a new friend and yes there were some developments between Max and some of the crew that may lead somewhere in the future but that is it.
Maybe it is my own fault for having made assumptions about where the story would go and thus built up my expectations but I felt a bit disappointed by this book.
It is still a decent sci-fi adventure though so three stars it is.
Max Tyco, truck driver, Rowki in training, Red Wolf, widower, and now the fifth wielder in history of red sardonium, must seek out the only person who can help him master the special metal. The fourth wielder of red sardonium is a former Rowki named Roman who disappeared eleven years previously. As he searches, what will he find? I recommend this book due to the well written story.
Another interesting and well written book in the series. You can feel the self doubt as the main character, Max, comes to grip with the realization that there are other species, space travel, and lastly that he was chosen to become one of the few elite warriors the universe has known. Still humble and doubting himself, he has heart and compassion that helps him over come adversity.
Waiting for book 5. Max is lucky to have a number strong women in has life. These women train him, save him, fight him, fight with him, help him in many ways. Keyra is hot a fan of Max Tyco, she actually has it out for him. Now I'm dying to see where it goes. I already hurt for Max! I can't say anything, but once you catch up in the series you'll know.
Tyco is again faced with a challenge as he seeks answers, although this story is a little cliche, it flows very well and I enjoyed how it tied in to the larger battles in the series. With so much happening this was a good break away but made for a worthwhile development.
Strap in it's going to be a bumpy ride! Max is in pursuit of a mentor that is the only other Rowki to use red sardonium. Since he hasn't been heard of since he left years ago what are the odds he will help?
Not good, and when found there is only more trouble and monsters to contend with. Another exciting episode of a great adventure.
Max Tyco makes friends and foes where ever he goes.
Darkness creates its own brand of fierce fighters and evil intent. Max, Brama, and the crew search for a former rowki. They find a vast conspiracy, forged in greed and deceit. The trip back toward the portals will be interesting to say the least.
Enjoyed this book as well as the ones before. I have the next book queued up and ready to go. Looks as if it going to be a little dark from the epilogue at the end of this book. It’s a good storyline that moves well.
This fourth book in this series is just as good as the previous 3. With interesting characters and lots of action and suspense it is well worth reading.
