Wang Shuyu and Xiao Sheng, two strangers with broken pasts, cross paths one night—a night that leads to a hopeful future together. Wang Shuyu, a coldhearted man, believes that having Xiao Sheng is enough in this life. Tragedy strikes and his world crumbles when Xiao Sheng leaves.
Five years later, Xiao Sheng returns—not alone, but with an adorable four-year-old boy.
Originally cold-hearted turned cold-blooded, is there any love left in Wang Shuyu's shattered heart? Can Xiao Sheng mend the heart that he broke along with his own?
‘The Only Sunflower I See Is You’ is a Chinese BL—Mpreg—Mafia novel. A dark and fluffy romance, exploring the obsessive love and loyalty between two people that must separate. It appears simple yet complicated as they find their way back together.
Volume One follows Wang Shuyu and Xiao Sheng as they grow to love each other before Xiao Sheng leaves.
*This book belongs in the same world as 'Me to the Universe.'
c'est du red flag en plein avec un alpha dominant, riche et arrogant, froid avec tout le monde sauf avec son homme 😏 mais parfois... c'est ce qu'on a besoin 😂😂😂 j'ai adoré ! ❤️
I immediately dipped out when the sexual assault happened, at the very beginning. The character is clearly drugged and saying no and feeling weird because of what’s happening to his body but the person with him does not stop when told no. Unless it was some consensual roleplay, all of that scene was not okay. Put this in your mind: if it was a woman that was drugged and saying no while being touched sexually but is feeling things because of the drug and normal body functions, would you still see it as something that’s not sexual assault? The answer is very likely no.

The end of this book had me in tears. I had to take a break several times because I was reading in public. I felt a little tricked by the book description because it says the MC leaves and there's a five year jump but that doesn't happen until the very end of the book. I'm invested now and will start book two immediately!
There are a few TW to check before you start this series.
I picked up this book thinking it wouldn’t be that good as it was self-published and used to be part of AO3 and Wattpad but boy was I wrong. Yes there are some Wattpad-like moments in the book that I’m not a big fan of such as the beginning of this book. But the writer surprised me so much by writing such fantastic 3D characters that readers can relate to. This story is about what it’s like to love someone with anger issues, how hurt you can get with them when they’re angry, threatening you, and throwing things but the way they keep coming back together no matter how it hurts, it just breaks my heart because this kind of stuff happens in real life. I found the build up to the climax kind of rushed but nevertheless, the way the two processed everything is so good and realistic. This author truly brings out a speak of realism and truth in a Wattpad-like story. Truly amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a speck of realism in their spicy love stories, even if it hurts.
I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to when I first started it. Went through so many emotions throughout the book. It was tooth-achingly sweet when happy, hot and smutty when explicit (and I really do love it when bl couples actually enjoy sex with each other lol), and heartbreakingly angsty when sad.
Tw: dubious consent (drugged/aphrodisiac), consensual non-consent (kind of? There’s a lot of saying no and the other person disregarding it but it’s treated as consensual), unhealthy relationship dynamics, suicide
This is a fairly bog standard romance novel - so if you’re into that kind of thing (pushy top, beautiful and incredibly forgiving bottom, clearly laid out and followed dynamic roles) then this will likely scratch that itch.
For me, the biggest issue aside from the standardness of it, was actually that it was so fucking fast. Scenes moved with a speed that was nearly incomprehensible, and folks personalities and motivations shifted to keep up with the movement. One second they would be angry at each other (for reasonable reasons) and then the next they would be declaring their undying love - I didn’t understand anyones motivations, aside from fairly one dimensional characterizations (the top is mad, therefore he throws things, etc).
There are fairly consistent issues with editing - most frequently incorrect word choices, but one of my jobs is an editor so I’m going to be more aware of that than the average reader. Maybe. Overwhelmingly, the writing was just very strange and inconsistent. I found this via a TikTok which hinted that the story is going to have mpreg? Which if that is the case, is honestly very wild - there’s no indication at all in this entire book that this story is going to move towards mpreg, that mpreg is a thing that exists in this universe, or that the bottom knows that he can carry a child. There is one line where someone alludes to a pregnancy as a possibility mid sex scene.
I do not know if I am going to continue this series.
What an amazing book!!! You can call me biased, as I am a big fan of the writer. But Her Writing style is something that I couldn't help but fell for. Character Development, Plot reveling, Story telling everything is beautifully done. Well done Bai Bai, my Sunflowerwx.
I’m enjoying this like a car crash - very toxic relationship here but I can’t look away. The main downside is the overall book needs some serious critical editing. The grammar errors, syntax issues and scattered pacing can be quite irritating.
Starts out with annoyance, becomes fluffy and ends in terrible heartache. The person I started off hating the most ends with being the person my heart hurts for. Thankfully, I waited until I had all 3 volumes before I started reading.
While this wasn’t the best written story it has potential I didn’t mind the language barrier I thought it was cute It’s not a bad story but at 40% with still nothing really going on I had to give up and unfortunately dnf. Nothing was really hooking me in to stay.
“Xiao Sheng, it’s you. It’s only you for me. Having you is enough in this lifetime. If I am to be your sunflower, I will burn every field and destroy every other sunflower so I can be the only one gazing at you.”
So I finally read *The Only Sunflower I See Is You* and honestly... I have mixed feelings. There were moments that totally hooked me and others that left me a bit confused. It’s definitely one of those dark and fluffy romances that pulls you in with its drama and angst, and I did enjoy the main couple’s interactions—especially how their love story unfolds despite all the baggage they’re carrying.
Wang Shuyu and Xiao Sheng’s relationship is INTENSE. Like, you’re thrown into this whirlwind of emotions from the get-go. The book does a good job of exploring the obsessive love and loyalty between them, but be warned—it gets pretty toxic at times. If you’re into that push-and-pull dynamic and don’t mind a bit of heartbreak, this could be your thing.
I gotta say, though, the pacing was a bit all over the place for me. One minute they’re fighting, the next they’re all lovey-dovey, and I was like, “Wait, what just happened?!” Some scenes felt rushed, and I think the story could have used a bit more editing to smooth things out. Also, heads up for those sensitive to certain themes—there’s some pretty heavy stuff right at the beginning that might not sit well with everyone.
But despite the flaws, I still found myself turning the pages, curious to see how everything would unfold. There’s definitely potential here, and if you’re in the mood for a spicy, dramatic read with a hint of mystery, this might just hit the spot. Not the best I’ve ever read, but definitely worth a look if you’re curious. I’m on the fence about picking up Vol. 2, but we’ll see!
