Jenny Ward Angyal has quickly placed herself in my modern day literary saloon of women who are master poets and lyricists - but she has also landed in my tanka triangle, finally made whole, with the likes of Claire Everett and Joy McCall. Together, the three of them form my holy subset of tanka enchantresses within that saloon.
Her tanka, haiku, and haibun are achingly beautiful and stirring. I'll be hunting down more of her thin volumes of magic and devouring them all, as I did with the aforementioned authors. It is relieving and humbling to know there are souls out there who seemingly write for no one other than myself, a flickering spirit caught between the artificial world as it is and natural ephemeral life, and I yearn for the bridging of both. Thank you for filling this incredibly specific void in me.
