Is it a fanfic? Yeah. Is there smut in it? Yeah, but not overly gross about it. Was it a fun read? Hell yeah it was. Peaked my interest cause it was free on Kindle Unlimited and I liked watching KP back in the day, but yeah it was a fun short read.
I cannot abide a hero who ties up a villain, who has fire powers, with a piece of cloth and proceeds to stand there and do nothing as said villain burns out of their restraints and escapes after setting the his pants on fire...
You all remember Kim possible... badass protagonist who could do anything and took no shit from anyone... yeah this isn't that.
I'm glad Ron got a glow up from bumbling moron, to someone worth associating with but I think we can all agree there is no way that 1. he is now better than kim at everthing, 2. is the hero of the story and 3. ALSO has a harem. The suspension bridge of disbelief is so heavy with male power fantasy bullshit that the only way you can make it work is to make floatees out of all the plot armor laying about.
Now I can believe Kim x Shego is a thing and hey if you add Monique to the equation... sure. But there is no way that they would ever accept Bonny the queen bee bitch who made their life a living hell into the harem. Especially when the reasoning is, Ron is so hot and we both trust him therefore I'll forgive you for literal years of bullying...
So the title and pic give you an idea of what this fanfic book might be about. The names of course were changed to protect the innocent avoid plagiarism and other problems of that ilk. I found the tone of the story to be somewhat depressing. Some of the excitement, humor and tension from the original animation this story is based on seems to be missing. As the story progresses, the action picks up and provides great entertainment. The Harem concept and Rex Stream's perspective is exciting and even fits. Simon Archer's other works are strong. And so although this wasn't the story I expected, it was still a decent read. I probably will get the next book as well because, well I like the characters and want to see what adventures they get into. And I want to take a ride in Rex's car after Kaitlyn's brothers get a hold of it. And I liked how (P)Terry the Platypus replaced naked Mole Rats.
This is a good book. Are the characters shallow? Yeah. But it's power fantasy. If the characters aren't shallow, it's not being written right. You don't read power fantasy for deep and intriguing plot. You read it for shenanigans. And this book has shenanigans. And I really do like the history of the characters, where it's just publicly known that they were a bunch of super spies. Was not a secret at all they're just common knowledge. And as for the best part of the entire book
I'm a little slow on the uptake so it took me longer than it should have to realize this was Kim Possible fanfic. The lack of setup made more sense after that realization. As a stand alone story this was a 3 but the execution as fanfic bumps it up a bit. It really hits the tone if the show but the relationship aspects seem forced. If you like KP and want to know how the college years go, give this a shot.
I knew it , I predicted the epilogue, lol. This was such a sun read and a fantastic dip into nostalgia. Simon’s imagination is providing once again to be off the scales. There was non-stop fun and this adventure and this ended in such a fulfilling way, that it can be a standalone book or the opening to an awesome series.
First the good, its a very unique story for this genre. Lots and lots of adventures and adult fantasy activities throughout the whole story! Now the needs lot of work the story was at to lacking flow and the comedy parts were just way to dry. All that said I would read more in this story arc but would enjoy some of the things I've said corrected!
Okay, I'll admit it, this was a satisfying, mature addition to a cartoon I at least knew enough to get all the references to even if it wasn't something I watched regularly.
It's pretty obvious that this is, in a lot of ways, a parody. I just didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The characters are just enough like thier parody counterparts to recognize, but it's very enjoyable. Terry clearly the star of the show.
I've always liked Simons works, but this just takes the cake. My notification tone is Kims communicator sound and has been for years. Since simon has tackled this mash up....maybe the Cartoon Cartoon squad is on the horizon. Love your work Simon.
Totally enjoyed this book. A super cheesy kind of fun and parody. Looking forward to another installment. If its written along the same lines as this one I know I'll enjoy it.
Anyone who grew up watching the Mouse House channel is going to love this story. Kind of makes you want re-watch the series with a completely different perspective. Can't really wait for the next installment if this series !
