I thought historians no longer stated that 3 groups of invader/settlers (she writes ..."Angles, Saxons and Jutes from northern Germany") came to the British Isles, but rather, historians today say these incoming peoples were made up of many smaller groups, and not just from northern Germany. Cath Senker writes in this book that this is what occurred.

Perhaps I've misunderstood what I've recently read? I've been trying to cram a LOT of history into my 65 year old brain and I feel certain there are glitches along the way. Not that my brain is feeble but it already contains rafts of stuff I won't toss.

I read the intro, skimmed the rest, and decided to shelve it for future reference. Not because of the Angles, Saxons, Jutes idea, but I have other books to use as reference which have more detail.

Overall, excellent use of notes and sources, including websites which have live links in my ebook copy, enough information to satisfy a junior high or high school teacher, and concise sentences. I have little patience for page long sentences that seem to have been ravaged all night by my marmalade cat Hector the Bruce.
