This coffee table book is filled with wonderful pictures taken by some of the best sports photo journalists of the 20th Century.
However, it is next to impossible for one book to effectively chronicle a subject as broad as sports in the 20th Century. It would have been better if separate books had been published on football, baseball, etc.
For the novice, this book would give the reader the highlights of events and sketches of personalities who dominated the sports scene. But for one such as I, who has been more than a casual observer of sports since 1960, it left a bit to be desired.
