Anna-Marie and Ambrose are in more hot water than a kettle of tea for this anticipated sequel!
What do you do when you steal a book from the queen and have it stolen from you? Grovel. At least, that is Ambrose's solution. Anna-Marie doubts it will work but when the Queen Victoria agrees to give them a chance to get Moonstone's Promise back, she knows they have to succeed or die trying. When she faces betrayal once more, Anna-Marie makes the best of her sudden kidnapping by planning how to retrieve the book when she is turned over to Jack of All Traders, the man she has been searching for, the friend she lost when his ambition drove out his compassion. Unfortunately, London is in chaos. The Moonstone's Promise unleashed more of a curse than anything, the Lychan curse turning men into little better than snarling, drooling beasts. Can Anna-Marie turn the chaos to her advantage? Will she find and destroy the book before it's formula destroys the city and the man she loves? Or will she be too late? Will she have to watch London burn while her heart breaks?

This roller king romp was quite fun. The author lichen her heroine to Mary Poppins, but she reminds me more of a different heroine Amelia Peabody. Well aside from the parasol with so many weapons, which is what Amelia carries around all the time. I was never particularly impressed by Mary Poppins. Of course I didn’t read the book only saw the movie. And I understand the author of that particular novel was not happy with Disney’s interpretation of it.
Second in the series. These are not great works of art, nor are they rivitening mysteries, but they are entertaining and clever enough for me to read the next one in the series. I could stand to have the main character be a little more like Mary Poppins....other than that she has umbrellas, there is not much here.
I enjoyed both this book and the one before it immensely. The ideas and plots are innovative and top notch. Very well written. Looking forward to the next one!
