What a great addition and emotionally charged finale to the Bryson brother trilogy of books!

BROTHERS IN BLUE: MATT (Brothers In Blue #3) by Jeanne St. James has the youngest Bryson finally returning home after several deployments overseas to a job and extended family that he is finding very difficult to deal with due to PTSD.

Matt Bryson believes his mind is broken. He is not ready to accept help except what is forced on him by his brother to keep his job as a police office in their small town. He has buried his emotions and is barely making it day to day.

Dr. Carly Stephens is Amanda’s obstetrician at the local hospital. She is tall, calm and extremely professional working hard to help her elderly parents and save money to adopt a baby of her own one day that she cannot have herself. When Matt ends up being the brother to rush Amanda to the hospital to deliver, he is attracted to Carly’s calm and leadership. Carly is attracted to the hot police office.

They start out as landlord and tenant, but soon agree to a sexual, no commitment relationship. They are just too different and want different things out of life. Matt with his OCD and PTSD believes he will never be able to love and he never wants children. Carly is too busy earning and saving money for her future home and adoption and just wants the hot sex. But can they truly keep to this arrangement? Hot, steamy sex is great, but soon emotions become entangled and they will have to find a way to compromise or break.

Matt had me all tied up in knots emotionally. There are many forms and degrees of PTSD and I feel Ms. St. James handled Matt’s character responses in a realistic way. I especially agree with the way that Matt had to handle a lot of his decisions on his own and in his own time. Carly was an equally strong character because even though she is a doctor, she knows she can’t heal Matt, she can only love and help him. The plot was a delicate back and forth written with empathy and compassion.

It was great reading about all the characters from the previous two books, also. I am going to miss these brothers, the loves they found and the entire extended family. This is an excellent contemporary romance series with plenty of hot and steamy sex scenes. They can all be read as standalones, but is much more fun to read them all in order and get three HEAs.

I almost delete this book from my audio book. I thought its going to be another cheesy romance. Boy was i wrong! This is a very very good book. I listen to it while cleaning my house. I never been so distracted.

Matt suffers a PTSD and he curls inside his broken mind. Carly storms into his life. Pulling him out from darkness. It was a very long painful journey of healing for Matt. And add into the twist, there is dominatrix taste on this book. And Carly done a very good job as dominatrix.

Ok guys, now i need to clean up my house.

We finally meet Matt, who has been deployed overseas in the previous books. He’s on the force with his brothers but has MAJOR issues with PTSD. He meets OB/GYN physician Carly when taking Amanda in to the hospital for the delivery of her baby. (I found that scene hilarious by the way)
After a few other chance encounters with Carly they develop a relationship of sorts. This book deals with Matt and his mental illness issues with his dealings on the job, Carly and his family. I really liked this book and would have rated it higher but the abrupt ending made this book seem incomplete. I would have loved an epilogue at least. 3 stars

If I understand correctly ( don't hold me to this...lol) this series was the authors first books. I guess for a beginner back then her writing was great. Interesting characters and a decent story line "but " either she should have gave better endings or wrote an epilogue to tie it all up. According to her website it's best to read this series before getting into the MC...I read somewhere that we might see some of the same people so maybe it will tie up these. I sure hope so.
Matt is the youngest son and he too did his time in the marines and then became a police officer. The only difference was the first two boys did their time and got out. Matt kept going back and back and back again overseas. Until he was diagnosed with PTSD. He's also OCD. Matt is lost in his head a lot. He never wants to fall in love because it usually leads to having a family and he is 100% sure he never wants kids. When his oldest brother's wife has the baby he runs in the opposite direction.
Carly is an OB doctor. She is the one who delivered Matt and Amanda's daughter. Fairly new in town and not knowing too many people she keeps to herself. She lives in a boarding house in a bad part of town. She is now single since her husband left her because she found out she couldn't have kids. Sounds perfect for Matt right...wrong...she wants to adopt.
See what happens when she hits a deep and he is the cop who responds...they go on a hell of a ride.

This is the first Brothers in Blue book that I have read and I loved it. Matt Bryson and Carly Stephens have a lot of sexual chemistry. Add in Matt's family and the book made me laugh so hard!

Matt is a former Marine who is now working as a police officer in his hometown with his brothers - Max and Marc (books 1 and 2). Carly Stephens is an OB/GYN who has issues of her own to deal with. Matt and Carly first saw each other in the ER when Matt was bringing in his sister in law, Amanda, because she had gone into labor and was about to have her baby!

Matt and Carly official met each other when Matt was called out to an auto accident involving a vehicle hitting a deer. There was an instant attraction that both thought was just sexual. Matt and Carly decides to have a sexual relationship but they each come to care about the other. Matt and Carly's relationship is hot and they are also funny!

Matt, however, is dealing with all the trauma from his time serving as a marine overseas. We get to read about how veterans deal with all that they have to do and see while serving the country and the aftermath. Carly and Matt's family tries to help Matt with his PTSD but will Matt be able to get the help he needs and work through his issues.

Great story with tears and laughter throughout.

PTSD...Matt has served a shite tonne for his country and has the deep (read deep) scars to prove it. While his "Buck" status is still intact, his mind is F'd up hard. Carly is an OB/Gyn who can't help but fall in love. There is no cheating but I couldn't help but think that by not letting Carly know what was going on with him, Matt was "indulging" in a form of cheating. But then, they were new and he was struggling...I was so glad Ms St. James gave them a great HEA.

An emotional story.

3,75 stars.

Matt and Carly really touched me.
Their story wasn't an easy one and they had a lot to overcome.
It was moving how they dealt with their issues and Carly tried to help Matt to get out of the hell he was living inside his head.
This book brought some sensitive issues and it was portrayed with sensitivity.

I wish they had more time to work on their relationship and Carly's dreams. I understand Matt's situation was delicate, but it turned out to be all about him and I think Carly deserved something more palpable.

Still, this was a nice read.

A heartfelt love song to Veterans

I loved this story. PTSD is a horrific response to the atrocities of war. Ms. St James does a beautiful job of pointing out not only the pin of the sufferer, but the agony suffered by the families and friends of returning vets. Bless you for your honesty and caring.

I have read the first two in this series and absolutely loved them. But Matt has my heart. I loved this book. It was amazing from beginning to end. It was very well written with a great story line great character chemistry and feelings beyond. Matt is a guy you can easily fall in love with and want to help through everything he is going through. You just want to crawl inside the book hug him and never let go until he is ok again. I absolutely love Matt and Carly their relationship is fast paced but you can clearly see that these two belong together.
Matt is an ex- military who is suffering with so much. Carly is an OBGYN who cant have children of her own. They are both so very strong and stubborn but together they are perfect. I love how good they are together and they make each other stronger.
Jeanne is an amazing writer. I absolutely love her books.I highly recommend grabbing this book and enjoying.

The best one yet.

This was an incredible story. I fell in love with Matt from the first few pages even with all his self proclaimed failures. His struggle to let Carly's love surround him was so heart wrenching. I had tears in my eyes while reading some parts and laughed out loud during other parts. Overall, Matt's story was the best out of the entire series. I am depressed that there are no more single brothers in the family. I highly recommend this book.

The feels.

This was the last book in the brothers in blue series.
And talk about the feels , i cried i laughed i got angry talk about an emotional ride .
Matt is the youngest brother in the Bryson clan he was a marine and was gone along time over seas fighting for his country and while there witnessed some shocking atrocities that have left him a shell of the person he once was .
Matt now suffers from PTSD & OCD. He lives in a tent in the backyard of the house he rents from amanda his sister in law he has nightmares and blackouts. He is back on the police force in manning grove under the watchful eye of his brothers and he sees see's a therapist to help him deal with his issues.
Along comes Carly beautiful ,strong, independent and a dr .
Matt meets Carly the night he rushs his sister in law Amanda into the ER when she goes into labor. She is fiesty and doesnt back down she is loyal kind and loving and all she wants in this.world is to have a baby but she can't she is infertile.
One night Matt gets called to a.car accident scene only to find that carly had a crash with a deer she has a nasty bump on her head and he takes her to his parents house to keep an eye on her for concussion once he finds out ahe has know one to keep an eye on her and she lives in shared house that rats wouldnt even infest.
She is taking care of her elderly parents trying to save to adopt a baby as well as pay off her hefty loans.
Matt tell her she can move into his place as the rooms arent being used and he sleeps in the tent in the back yard anyway.
Soon its not long before they start sleeping together and then matt ends up having an episode and takes off for three or four days, when he comes back Carly is waiting for him and realises she is in love with matt .
Matt still has his struggles he doesnt want kids and knowing carly wants kids he feels its best to let her go because he doesnt want them .

Soon things heat up before them again and the next thing Matt knows he is having another blackout so bad he almost chokes a man, he realises he needs help and he has to do it straight away for everyones sake . So he checks him self into a facility for a month to finely get the help he needs
With out any contact for Carly. He breaks away from everyone family included . This was such a passionate story and the sad fact is it is true what men and women have done in the service protecting those they love and fight for freedom and honor has screwed them up so dramatically in so many ways and yet there doesnt seem to be enough help giving to them to help them lead a some what normal life. I would have loved to have read more about Carleys mum and dad though and why she was helping them out financially and also about her ex husband to .
Im sad this series has come to an end id love to read more it was a very enjoyable read thats for sure

This was a new author to me, and I jumped into the last book in the series, but that didn't take away anything from the enjoyment of the story, it truly is a standalone novel.
I enjoyed Matt and Carly together. They connected immediately, the chemistry was hot, and Carly seemed to understand the needs, fears, and desires Matt had and suffered from because of the PSTD.
Matt Bryson was lost inside his head with the memories from the war. His mind was playing tricks and the symptoms were getting worse. I liked him as a character, his humbleness, his desire to help and serve, his need to do the right thing, I could not help but admire him. Matt living through the episodes with the PSTD were realistic, intense, and scary. The emotions were high, and my heart was breaking for him and his pain.
Dr. Carly Stephens was also admirable character. She works hard, trying to help her parents, and she only hopes for one thing: to be a mom one day. She had deep wounds in her soul, brokenness, not even time could heal.
The Bryson family is abrasive and crazy when dealing with each other. At first, it was humorous, but it got old rather fast. The language in the story is rough and even though there is obvious bond and caring between the family members, the way they show it and communicate is scratchy. But that was obviously done on purpose, and maybe just the style the author was aiming for, as the writing was done with the same tone.
Despite the focus on the physical relationship between Matt and Carly, the raw emotions between them, the understanding of each other's wounds and hurt, the bond between them was touching and poignant, winning my heart.
I was offered the book to read as a contemporary romance story, but I would categorize this as erotica. The rather easy solutions to the devastating problems and pain the protagonist carry indicate that the physical aspects of the relationship were in the spotlight.
Undeterred by the biting and raw writing style, this story had a potential to be much more, if not some too easy solutions and choices with the development of the relationship between Matt and Carly.
A great story with deep emotions, an abundance of passion, and scorching heat.

Matt
Brothers in Blue, Book Three
By: Jeanne St. James
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Ava Lucas

I have listened to all three Brothers in Blue and have loved each one for different reasons. There is something really special about Matt and his story. While the story is full of passion, heat and spice, I loved it for the complexity of Matt. Matt has returned to civilian life after several tours as a marine. His experiences have scarred him, and as a result has given him low self esteem and a severe case of PTSD. Carly is the obstetrician who delivered Matt's niece and has caught his eye. Carly is a strong woman, has dealt with life's difficulties and is trying to get herself in a position so she can fulfill her dreams. Is Matt part of that dream? Jeanne St James again gives us a story of healing and love, with family and caring. The series is a tribute to our veterans and instills a sense of honor and gives us an awareness of how difficult their sacrifice is. I loved Matt and Carly and the entire Bryson family! Giving us the bonus of Teddy's story is just like the cherry on a sundae! What a hot and steamy treat! And Adam...what a man! Loved it!

The continuity of narration by Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas really solidifies the story of this family. I love that when I turn on the book, the voices are consistent and have become the thread of the series. Clarke has a voice that flows with sensuality, and he gives Matt a little desperation with the seriousness of his problems. Carly needs a woman who is smart and understanding. She is domineering at times, and Lucas gives Carly all these qualities. With the complexity of these characters, the narration comes through with all the emotional pull that tugs at your heart and makes you root for the couple!

This third book in the series was definitely worth the wait and my favorite. I am sorry to see it end. Jeanne St. James definitely gives her all when she creates her stories. From the characters she develops, that can run the gamut of emotions on a single page, to the storyline itself; weave a web of enchantment around the reader that compels one to not stop reading until finished. Matt is the youngest Bryson brother. He is finally home from his tours overseas, dealing with PTSD, and resuming his life in the Sheriff’s Department with his brothers. Dr. Carly Stephens is the ob/gyn looking after Matt’s pregnant sister in law with a full plate of her own. Not only is she sending money to help her parents, she is paying back her loans and trying to save to adopt a child. When the two meet, they are immediately attracted to one another. However, as neither one desires to be in a relationship, they agree to have sex with no strings attached. Watching the relationship develop between Matt and Carly is just a testament to the authentic writing style that Ms. St. James utilizes to ensnare the reader causing him/her to feel the angst or love right along with the story. You may want to have tissues and a pillow handy just in case. This is simply an outstanding story and I would give it more than five stars if that were possible.
I volunteered to read an arc for a review.

5 Emotionally Charged Stars

Matt is the third book in the Brothers in Blue Series by Jeanne St. James. This is by far my favourite of the three brothers. Matt has spent the past years being a marine. He is now working as a police officer in his hometown with his brothers.

Carly is an OB/GYN. and Matt sees Carly for the first time when he is brings in Amanda as she is about to have her baby. He can't help but be attached to her no nonsense bossy attitude. They meet officially when he is called out to a car accident where she has hit a deer.

He lives in a tent in the backyard of the house he rents from Amanda and as chance has it Carly needs somewhere safe to live. He offers her the room not realising he's offering her more than that.

Matt suffers from PTSD, OCD and blackouts, the suffering he goes through within this book had me feeling so many emotions. Jeanne ST. James did it so well, I was impressed.

This book had all the feels and was by far the best book in the series so far. As anyone who reads my reviews knows, I'm big on secondary characters they make the book extra better for me and this series has some many amazing people. They were so enjoyable to read.
I highly recommend this book and series.

5 star review of Matt (Brothers in Blue #3) by Jeanne St James

Audio Review
This was such an emotional roller coaster of a listen as Matt Bryson struggles with his PTSD and its impact on his civilian life back in Manning Grove as a member of the police force alongside his 2 brothers Max and Marc.
There was so much pain and suffering within this story, not only Matt’s but the woman who brings him to his knees, Dr. Carly Stephens that it was palpable. I felt that the narrators did a great job in expressing the emotion, pain and suffering that both Matt, Carly and by extension his family go through.
Honestly this book brought out so many more emotions than the previous two books. My heart just about broke for both Matt and Carly, but particularly Matt at times as he struggled to face his demons. The love and support that Carly showed Matt was heartwarming and inspirational.

The relationship that Matt has with his whole family is great , even though he does his best to keep them at a distance. The chemistry between Matt and Carly was off the charts hot as they fought through his issues to define their relationship.

Can Carly prove to Matt that their love is worth taking a risk or is Matt destined to be alone?

Matt is a brother I wanted to see get his HEA the most, you see I have a soft spot for the Military men who come back and are a little damaged. I just learned this about myself. I can’t help but feel the emotions and want them to find that special someone that can help them or help them see that they need help.
Matt is so tortured by his former life as a Marine but not because of something more so because he couldn’t keep helping without really losing himself. You can only witness so much before you yourself breaks.
His story is unique and different and I loved the little twist he and the Doc have it really helps you to understand just want Matt needs. But also what the Doc needs.

I loved this book, buttttt the BONUS “novella” EPIC!!
I am in love and listened to it twice because HELLO LOVE IS LOVE BABY!!
I hope and pray Jeanne St. James does more MM and MMF because I adore those stories as much as I adore her regular MF books.

The narration….you already know I am going to tell you Ava Lucas’ voice gives me the good kind of shivers. ;) **Shhh don’t tell her!!**
Jason Clarke lordy be that man’s voice is delicious I can listen to these two forever and ever!

I loved Max and Amanda first. I loved Marc and Leah second. However, I think I love Matt and Carly the most. Their story grabbed ahold of my heart and didn't let go. The emotions were raw. The mental health struggles Matt went through were heartbreaking. The progression and evolution of their relationship was endearing.

I am sad this is end end of our journey with the Bryson family. Thankfully, we'll get to visit them for a short time with Teddy's story. After that, it will be hard to let them go. These are stories I will have to reread. I instantly feel in love with the whole lot of them. They are the type of family you can just picture yourself sitting down with at the dinner table. Because I don't want to let them go, I would love it if the author would give us one more story. It could even be a short novella length, but I would love to see Ma and Pops Bryson in their early years at the beginning of their relationship. I definitely recommend this whole series!

This is my first book by Jeanne St. James and even though I did not read the first two books in the series, I was not lost and the story was enjoyable. The story is well written and the characters are fairly well fleshed out (I loved Teddy and Amanda). From the first real meeting between Carly and Matt, Matt shows that he is capable of caring for someone. There are some omissions in the story - mainly Carly's parents (where are they, why do they need assistance, etc). With Matt struggling with PTSD, I am surprised his family didn't do more to support him and get him the help he needed. I don't believe making someone go to therapy without offering additional assistance and just leaving him alone, helped in his recovery. With that said, the book kept me turning pages until I was finished. The ending is a little too convenient with no definite conclusion for Carly's story even though she does get her man. I would love to see a little novella that would wrap up the series and let us know how all the characters fared. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

While smokin’ hot and sexy as hell, Matt pissed me off on more occasions than not. The was a serious a**hole with major issues. PTSD and OCD were just the tip of the iceberg. He was lustful and caring one moment then he was ready to bite her head off and boss her around. Then he would become distant and moody.

The Dictator Doctor, Carly, was his simple downfall. She was all he could desire in a woman and more except for one thing. She had a dream and he wanted no part of it. She was strong, independent, and working with constraints of her own.

I found this read very well written and emotional. There were ups and downs that sent Carly on a tale-spin. Matt was going through a lot himself and found that disappearing was the answer to the issue bothering him. I could understand his need to depart but not the lack of communications.

I enjoyed seeing Marc and Leah again. I would like to get to know more about Max and Amanda, before Hannah. I loved Teddy and Greg. This was a true family and dinners at their home reminds me of a family and all the quirks that go along with it.

After three deployments with the Marines Matt is back and working with his brothers as a police officer however he is battling PST and refuses help and has shut himself off emotionally.

Carly is an obstetrician and is trying to assist her elderly parents while saving money to adopt the baby that she can’t have.

When Amanda goes into labor Matt takes her to the hospital and their attraction is immediate and what starts out as casual becomes much more however they want very different things in life. Is there a compromise to be found between the woman who dreams of children and the man who doesn’t believe he would be able to be a good father?

I loved the characters as Carly is strong and independent and working to fulfill her dreams and Matt is doing everything he can just to handle day to day life and the entire family just adds to the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Matt home from the Marines is a police officer working with his brothers at the local police station. Carly is an obstetrician working at a local hospital trying to save money so she can adopt a baby. When these two meet he is instantly attracted to her but neither of them have time for a relationship, so they decide sex with no strings would work. Will their relationship develop into something more?

Brothers In Blue Matt is the third book in this series. It can be read as a stand alone but it's so much better to read all the books to get to know the whole family. I really loved Matt's story and the author did an incredible job with such the difficult topic of PTSD. I loved the characters and how they are human with real life problems. It is well written with a perfect mix of story line, comic relief and romance. If you are looking for a good series to read I highly recommend Brothers In Blue. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

"Why are you being nice now?"
"I'm not. It's just an illusion."

that exchange isn't too far off from how I felt about this book
it was just, kind of ... nice and even that seemed like an illusion, like I really wanted it to be better

Matt's dealing with PTSD, Carly doesn't magically make that better, so that was interesting to read

I didn't understand the whole "Dictator Doctor" (seemed like she was just doing her job, maybe a little too straightforward, definitely no hand-holding, but does that really make her a dictator?) and her calling out orders during private time - it felt forced and even a little awkward

I got through it, but I didn't feel a need to hurry-up-and-finish

I haven't read the other brothers Max and Marco's story yet, but after reading Matt's story I don't want to. I related more to Matt's story because I'm a war veteran with PTSD. And his struggles are a real thing, and him trying to be better because he has a purpose is a short term fix in a long journey to a stable mental recovery. I have OCD too, I'm a complete neat and orderly freak lol. It's hard living that way the nightmares and self worthlessness, if he doesn't get better for himself his recovery won't last his progress will fail. People won't live forever you can't depend on them for your happiness and stability. They're good for moral and emotional support, but psychologically you have to be at peace and in control by your own strength and self worth. This is why it's important to be on the right meds and seek counseling continuously. We can't be better for others until we are more stable to be strong with them too not just for them. I can't wait to read Teddy's novella!

A wonderful story

This story will bring you to tears and having you use every emotion you have. Matt is home from the Marines and is struggling with his PTDS. Carly has a lot on her plate she is a Dr and trying to take care of everything herself. But what she really wants is a baby. When Matt sees her for the first time things with him seems ok. Carly doesn't have time for a relationship but they both agree to have some no strings attached very hot sex. But as we all know the hart will always take over. They have some ups and down but no matter what happens Carly never leaves Matt side. She stands by him and loves him even when things are hard. Matt fights harder everyday because he wants to get better but most of all he does it because he wants to be a better man for Carly. This story is truly amazing and well written and touches on a very serious subject Jeanne does a fantastic job bring it all together. You will even get to see some of the other brothers in this book this is a great a series I highly recommend it you will not be disappointed

Brothers in Blue Matt is the most touching story of the three brothers. It brings out issues that really need to be recognized more. Jeanne St. James did an amazing job in not only expressing the feelings of this brave man with PTSD, but on how he himself found help, acceptance, unconditional love and understanding.
Then we have the woman that he feel madly in love with, that excepted him, his issues while being selfless to her own problems and desires.
I hope in the future that Ms St. James blesses us with how not only Matt and Carly are doing, but also the recent marriage of Mark and Leah, plus she touched on a new relationship Teddy and Adam need details.
In closing I have to mention that Eva Lucas and Jason Clarke blew me away with the narration.
I am reviewing this audible book for a fair and honest review.
Thank you Jeanne St. James

I don't know why it took me so long to tackle this Brothers in Blue series. I have really enjoyed all of them! This story centers on the youngest brother, Matt. I found it somewhat difficult to process this hero's struggle after returning home from serving overseas in a war. My brother suffers from the same problem, so you broke my heart and put it back together again in a way that was both painful and believable.

I have definitely fallen for this awesome family of Brysons and the people they have adopted into their amazingly inclusive family. Bonus with plenty of amazingly hot sex and top-notch narration performances! You cannot go wrong with Jason Clark and Ava Lucas!

Squeee - Teddy got his story. No spoilers, but you made me happy cry!!

Definitely worth a credit. With 2 of my favorite narrators, this definitely did not disappoint.
