So proud of my son. He is in kindergarten and read this book almost all by himself. It is a 1-3rd grade level. The book was interesting and had cool illustrations.

We picked this book up from K's school library.

This book is set up as a Step 2 book which means that a child can read the book but they may need help. K loved it and thought the pictures that went with it were awesome. You get to learn about some of the different kinds of fish that live in the very bottom of the ocean that you don't get to see very often. K seemed to know about all these animals but for myself I learned about a few new fish I have never seen or heard of before. This is a great book for the classroom if the kiddos are learning about the ocean or different kinds of creatures.

Way Down Deep by Patricia Demuth is a fun read for those of lower levels or hard readers.It contains short sentences, a simple plot and simple dialogue.
This is a perfect book to use in a reading group or just to spark interest in science and the world about us.It explains the difficulty is exploring the ocean bottoms, what we find there and what the future of ocean exploration could mean.
I read this to my granddaughter as she was so interested in it. This and others in this series would be perfect for those that are learning or have difficulty with reading.

I like the book because I learn the strange creatures in the deep sea. The biggest creature is the giant squid. Many creatures such as deep-sea anglers have light to attract the fish so that they can eat the fish. We know these facts because the scientists use robots and submersibles to take pictures of the deep sea.

This would be a fun book for teachers to have in reading groups for lower level readers. It would be easy to create an art project and early informational mini-reports based on any of the creatures described. Kids will love the strange deep sea fish as well. Also could be incorporated with science, adding videos and documentaries for further explanation about animal adaptations.

It was about fish way down deep below the sea and the cool fish. My favorite fish is the one with the light on its head. If you like fish you will like this book.
