This book very lucidly covers how govt policy and World politics impacted the growth of this industry, education institutes, and R&D centers till the 1980s. To how they turned into partners for growth during 1980 - 2000(Thanks to NASSCOM and N Vittal). To 2000 nowwards transforming into a continuously nurturing empowering and symbiotic relationship till now.
This is simply MUST READ book for every curious mind who wants to understand the rise of Technology enabled modern India.
Kudos to all writers and their Team for pouring in their hearts, minds, and labor to make this book happen.
A book that wonderfully summarises the rise of the Indian IT industry over the last six decades. From the introduction of the first computers, the struggles of setting them up in universities, the birth of today's big names in IT Companies, and the growth till modern times, everything that one needs to know about the six decade journey has been covered. The book was great till the last chapter where it starts to talk about future opportunities but fails to pay due to important issues like data privacy & security, or potential abuse of deep-tech, apart from mentioning a few lines on it. Nonetheless, it's a great read, highly recommended to everyone, regardless of if you've lived through the 60years or not, because the book does a fantastic job of covering the history and bringing you to modern day where we stand. An easy, gripping read that will keep you hooked with interesting anecdotes from all the important personalities who contributed to this growth of Indian IT.
A must needed book to tell story of IT industry in India and how entrepreneurship and startups are not a recent phenomenon in India. I am also surprised by how institutes like IITs, IISc and TIFR played a big a part in development of IT in India.
its one of the books that could have been much more..its just that proper story telling wasnt here..just lots and lots of snippets combined together to become a book
