I read Purity Found by Jane Catherine Rozek in a matter of days. After reading Innocence Derailed, I itched to read this one, the next in the series. I told myself it couldn’t be as good. But it is equally well-crafted. The protagonist, Kate, turns her back on her troubled city life for a life off the grid in the Canadian wilderness.
Enthralled by her new life, she settles into the slow rhythm of remoteness. She forms a friendship with Dave and his son. The friendship with Dave blossoms into something more, and Kate undergoes a spiritual awakening.
I felt as if I had stepped into another world. The author’s beautiful, almost lyrical writing captures the essence of the pristine surroundings. Presented with all their flaws and complexities, the characters and dialogue have an authenticity. Rozek has done it again, producing a masterpiece.

The Story of a Young Woman's Move into the Canadian Bush.
This is the story of a young woman's disappointment with the life she has been living and her move into the wilderness of North Canada.
Kate is on a mission to find meaning in her life and to connect in some way with spirit. The story is largely to do with Kate's change of circumstances and how she adapts to her new lifestyle with the help and support of the small community she becomes part of.
We see how Kate learns to cook, ride, chop wood and butcher meat among other things. I have to say I found the butchering difficult to stomach and hurried on past it.
Throughout this tale of the change in Kate's life, there also runs a gentle romance. Kate forms an attachment for rugged mountain man Dave and his young son David. For most of the story the writer keeps the reader and Kate on tenterhooks as to whether this gruff male reciprocates Kate's feelings. I won't give any spoilers. Suffice to say this book is a fascinating account of life in the bush and a woman's search for love, not only the romantic love but love of self and love of God.
A really enjoyable read.

This suspense-ridden novel creates a physical response from the reader that’s joy-filled, melancholy, and poignant at the same time. I felt a longing to escape into the pristine and innocent wilderness with the main characters. The setting is a real and visceral thing, so powerful it pulls us in because we love being there. Exceptionally well done!

Purity Found is a beautiful faith journey/love story that inspires me to see God all around me in His creation and, quite honestly, to get off my computer and out into God’s creation more.

Purity Found is Kate’s story. In her early 20’s, Kate leaves her family, her country, and her past behind her to find solace in the wild of Canada in the 1970’s. She finds herself in a tiny little community near Anahim Lake. While staying in a cabin without electricity, heat, or running water, Kate learns to trust God. Actually, she begins to truly know God and to trust Him. She also learns to trust herself. She is brave and daring. And through it all, she finds friends, family, and a new community. She rebuilds herself and her relationship with God, and she even falls in love. Kate and Dave’s love story is sweet and slow, but it is the stuff that we all dream of.

I could never live that far north, but I admire Kate and her story, and I am glad that there are women strong and capable like her. I want to know more about her and her story. Whenever I read a book that changes me in some way, that’s 5 stars for me.

Great story!

I am a romance novel fan and this book made me feel like I was right there with the characters. The story was well put together and kept me wanting to find out what happens next. There was one scene that had a romantic steamy part to it (which I had to skip through it or it would leave me blushing....and won't say where to not spoil it). Overall, it was a great book and story!

Purity Found by Jane Catherine Rozek
It is not often you find an adventure so true to life that you can be certain it was not imagined. Like Moby Dick, the “fiction” is based on real experience. Like Melville, Rozek lived the story she conjures up from memory. The transition from Hippie Chick to pioneer is palpable. Her visual descriptions of the frozen wilds are every bit a real as Jack London’s in Call of the Wild. While not as extreme as Farley Mowat’s The Snow Walker, her prose does impart the sense of imminent doom by being swallowed up in the cold. Being a neophyte to Canada, she is fortunate to be welcomed into a community of British Columbians on the border of civilization. Hearty and enterprising, they teach her the skills she will need to pursue her lover onto his homestead being carved from the wilderness. He is an enterprising burl of a man, but noble in his faith and true to his convictions. His son needs a mother, and he needs a truer mate. The attraction is immediate, but the obstacles are restrictive. Her transition from free spirit to faithful partner is a slow process. She had much to learn in the transition. I was fascinated by all the learned skills and survival mechanisms. But there is plenty of romance -- an altogether wholesome read!

Purity Found is a heartfelt story of love, faith, and adventure. Kate’s journey into the rugged Canadian wilderness is both challenging and inspiring, and her romance with Dave is sweet and believable. The book beautifully blends survival, spirituality, and personal growth. Perfect for readers who love romance with a deeper, reflective edge.

This *CLAP* was *CLAP* amazing! *CLAP* I want more from Jane Catherine Rozek.

I read Purity Found quickly and was surprised by how fast it drew me in. Right from the beginning, the story felt focused, as if it knew where it was going and trusted me to come along. Kate’s choice to leave behind what she knows isn’t shown as an easy escape, but as a real, tough decision with real consequences. Seeing her learn, make mistakes, adapt, and keep moving made her feel very real to me. I liked that her growth came from her own efforts, not from someone else saving her.

The main relationship in the book grows slowly, which made it feel real instead of dramatic just to be exciting. Dave isn’t changed to fit a usual romance character, and that made their connection more believable. The story’s emotion comes from small, quiet moments, where trust grows over time and meaning is found in daily routines and shared silences.

What I remember most is how thoughtful the book felt. It encourages you to slow down and think about what matters, but never tells you what to believe. When I finished, I didn’t just feel entertained. I felt calmer, more thoughtful, and even refreshed. That’s rare, and it’s what made this book special for me.

I read the ePub version of this, and these are my honest thoughts.

A slow-burn unique romance, “Purity Found” follows Kate as she distances herself from a troubled past in Oregon in the U.S.A. and stakes her claim in a rural backwoods community in British Columbia, Canada. A long way from home, she finds herself charmed by the “old-fashioned” slow pace but hardworking life — exemplified in the man she meets who will change her future, whom she describes to her mother as the strongest man she’s ever met, both mentally and physically.

As her friendship with Dave and his son blossoms, the attraction is undeniable, but Dave’s personal history presents a legal barrier as well as — more importantly — a religious and spiritual barrier. However, Kate soon becomes intrigued and inspired by his devotion to his religious beliefs. The emotional struggle leads her to question her own beliefs:

So, if there wasn't a future for their growing attraction, wouldn't it be better for her just to pull up stakes and move on before either of them got really hurt? Maybe she wasn't right for Dave. She didn't want to convert to Catholicism and pray to Holy Mary on her knees every night. And she failed to speak in tongues after she was baptized, and the Pentecostal people had prayed for her. She didn't feel she belonged in any church or the community. So, what [was she] doing here?
But in her darkest moments of despair, she finds solace in her new environment that seems to protect her and encourage her to stay the course:

She was needed by him, and he had a purpose for her. She didn't have to leave. She just had to love. She was a tool, a vessel designed to hold enough love to flow outward to those God cared about. Something big was happening, and she was a huge part of it. God needed her to get it done!
This story was easy to read and fall into the main character’s mind, experiencing every daily struggle as she acclimatized to the weather, the bone-weary work, the warmness of the community, and the new experiences of teaching and caring for children. A willing, good-natured woman, Kate is easy to love as a protagonist, and we see her rise to the occasion many times even when she is not sure that she is capable. I also appreciated the descriptions of the environment, as it was easy to picture the vast nothingness of the outdoors and the quiet, loving, rural community.

The romance is a unique one, as it seems to happen in the background at times, because the “great outdoors” itself becomes its own character, particularly coming down to the end when Dave has to throw himself wholeheartedly into manual labour to get the job done — there’s no time for romance when the stakes are literally life and death. Kate’s relationship to Dave’s son was heartwarming, and at times I enjoyed this even more than the romance.

Overall, this was a great, enjoyable read. If there’s anything worth mentioning, I must admit that perhaps I was hoping for a more heightened point of action before the climax, but this may be because it is part of a series and there are still more books to come. I would recommend it to all romance readers, but particularly those who enjoy rural small-town stories, as this would definitely fit the bill. I look forward to reading more about these characters in future books in the series, and would also love to read more by this author.

Through time in a romantic western adventure.

"Purity Found" by Jane Catherine Rozek is an exciting story based on a true life adventure.

It follows Kate as she moves to British Columbia in 1973 and gets transported back in time to experience pioneer living.

Kate falls for Dave, a rugged mountain man, and his young son. They invite her to join them in homesteading deep in the wilderness to build a ranch from scratch.

As Kate faces harsh challenges in the alpine forests, she questions if she can handle the demanding lifestyle and rekindles feelings for an old flame.

The book explores Kate's spiritual journey as she searches for inner strength and faith to embrace her destiny on the turbulent path ahead.

With themes of new age, romance, and living off the land, (Purity Found) offers an engaging read.

i honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when i picked this up, but i ended up really loving kate’s journey. it’s not just a romance; it’s a legit survival story about moving from oregon to the canadian wilderness in the 70s. the transition from her being a "hippie chick" to learning how to butcher a moose and live in a canvas tent in freezing temperatures was wild. i particularly loved the scene where they had to navigate that terrifying switchback road down to bella coola in the fog—my heart was pounding just reading it. the author does a great job describing the actual grit it takes to homestead without making it sound overly glamorous.

the romance between kate and dave is a slow burn, mostly because of his strict religious views and the baggage they both carry, but it felt authentic to the characters. i admit i got a little frustrated with dave's hesitation sometimes, but seeing kate bond with his son, david dale, was really sweet. if you like stories about pioneering, faith, and actually working hard for your happy ending, this is a great read. it felt like reading a memoir more than fiction at times. 5/5 for the atmosphere alone.

Interesting story, Rough Execution
Purity Found offers an accessible romance set in the 1970s, in British Columbia, where Kate trades modern life in Oregon for an off-grid existence and a complicated relationship with a mountain man. The Canadian wilderness setting is vividly conveyed, and the premise—love, hardship, and spiritual searching in the wild—has clear appeal for readers drawn to inspirational stories.
Unfortunately, the presentation is rough. The cover design looks amateurish (the yellow title is nearly lost in the background), and the interior formatting is problematic: misplaced headers and footers, overly tight line spacing, and harsh left-justified paragraphs that cry out for professional typesetting. The prose is readable and visual but leans heavily on exposition and familiar genre clichés. Point-of-view control is also uneven, with occasional head-hopping. A strong Christian angle will likely resonate with some readers, though it may not appeal to everyone.

urity Found is a sincere and engaging continuation of The Spirit Quest Series. Because it’s based on a true story, it feels especially real—raw at times, but also hopeful and uplifting.

What I appreciated most is that the book doesn’t try to be perfect or overly preachy. It shows the struggle honestly, including the doubts, setbacks, and inner battles that come with real change. The journey feels human and relatable, and it’s easy to connect with the emotional process the author describes.

The spiritual side of the story is woven in naturally, adding depth without feeling forced. Even if you’re not especially religious, there’s a lot here about self-reflection, accountability, and choosing a better path that can resonate on a human level.

Overall, this is a meaningful and encouraging read for anyone who enjoys true stories about personal growth, faith, and finding strength through difficult experiences. It left me feeling reflective and quietly hopeful.

The novel is a slow yet deeply moving journey about a woman searching for meaning in life amid the wilderness. Through the character of Kate, the author vividly portrays rural life in 1970s Canada: harsh and isolating, yet filled with raw, elemental beauty. The story does not romanticize marriage or love; instead, it exposes the exhaustion, imbalance, and quiet sacrifices of a woman carrying the weight of being a wife and a mother in a remote, unforgiving landscape. The book’s strength lies in its evocative descriptions of nature and its psychological depth, particularly in exploring the connection between human beings, faith, and destiny. Rather than ending with dramatic climax, the final chapter closes on a moment of spiritual awakening: Kate finds the strength to go on not through others, but through the faith she discovers within herself. This is a quiet, reflective novel well suited to thoughtful readers.

Review of Purity Found by Jane Catherine Rozek
I deeply admire Kate’s strength, courage, and tenacity in choosing to build a life with this rugged mountain man, despite the contrast to her previous lifestyle. Her determination to carry on alongside such a strong and powerful partner is truly admirable. I was captivated by the wild, remote country she embraced, and by the demanding lifestyle she chose, given the many hardships she endured. Personally, I would have been long gone after being left with a five‑year‑old stepson, in the middle of winter, in a tent for ten days—with no comforts or facilities whatsoever!

I went into Purity Found expecting a sweet romance, and I got that… plus a full wilderness survival experience on the side.

The romance is more slow-burn and heartfelt than overly dramatic, which in my opinion is always nice for a good buildup, and makes things more relatable especiallh for a true story. It’s not just about the romance though. It’s also about finding yourself, finding faith, and learning how to keep going when life gets messy which i think many of us can relate to. If you enjoy romance with real depth (and a heroine who goes through more than just “will he text back?” problems), this one is worth picking up. Recommended.

future book to lifetime movie of the week; I am not a romantic story aficionado so please take this spoilerless review, from a guy's perspective. I find it very cool that this is based on true events. Additionally it is very neat that the author sets the scene, backdrop in both US/Oregon and Canada frozen tundra. Kate and Dave make the sparks fly, as they are both very relatable likeable characters. The author does a great job of plot development and conflict. For those who are romantic bookworms, this will be a wonderful read. Very well done author.

Honest, raw, and beautifully human. A heartfelt and grounded story starting over in the wild. I loved how the story blends faith, love, and survival without feeling fake or forced. The writing is vivid and full of soul. The setting feels alive. You can almost feel the cold air, the silence, and the freedom of the wilderness. Kate’s journey hits that mix of strength and vulnerability that makes you care. It’s calm but powerful, simple but emotional. One of those books that quietly stays with you.

Purity Found is a touching faith and love story that reminded me to notice God in the beauty of creation. Kate leaves her past behind and moves to the remote Canadian wilderness near Anahim Lake in the 1970s. Living simply in a cabin without modern comforts, she learns to truly trust God and discovers her own strength.
Along the way, she finds friendship, community, and a gentle, slow-growing love with Dave. Kate’s courage and resilience are inspiring, and her journey of faith and renewal stayed with me.

I like this book because it is peaceful yet powerful at the same time. The wilderness setting feels vivid and calming, while the challenges make the story emotional and real. I enjoy watching Kate grow stronger as she faces a completely new way of life. The romance feels gentle and genuine, not forced.

The first book in this series, Innocence Derailed, leaves us wondering if Kate will be granted her wish to relocate, in her never-ending quest to find herself. In Purity Found, Kate uncovers depths of raw emotion, adventure and self-love. As she navigates these challenges, Kate is given gifts that lead her to everlasting peace and happiness. This novel speaks to having courage, finding love, embracing spirituality, and trusting that the very things that make us whole, come from within first.
