This was such a fun time. A messy group of friends with some drama and a bit of spice. This felt and read like a sitcom. This was exactly what I needed. I laughed so much. I love this group of friends. Moving on to book II. Nasir is about to be pissed 🤭
I discovered Sydney Renee on booktok and I am glad that I did! As a Bay Area native myself, I was going to support regardless. After reading Let’s Be Friends, I’ll definitely be supporting the author and not just because of where she’s from, but because this was a good book.
This book had comedy, DRAMA, spice, and a whole lot of other things that kept me engaged with the story. I like how real the story is. The things that transpired are things that happen every other day. The author’s writing style is *chefs kiss*
Rebecca went through so many things in a short period of time, I was praying for my girl. Nasir is a dog. That’s it, that’s all. I really liked Brandon. You could tell he’s a good one from the jump. I also like him for Rebecca! Gary is immature. I gave him the side eye multiple times. Ashley is one of them girls you have to watch around your man cause she knew about Rebecca and still pursued Nasir.
The only thing that I would complain about is the chapter being about one character and then things are being told by another character. It was a little confusing at times, but it was tolerable.
I will definitely be reading the next book. Sydney, you have a new fan 💗
Almost everyone in this book sucked. The multiple POVs from characters that really have nothing to do with the main plot was really not needed. It started off strong and then just fell off very quickly. There are entirely too many secondary characters that don’t matter that have a POV that are pointless.
Absolutely loved this book. The characters are laugh out loud funny. I love the banter between the “friend group”. Great start to this series, I’m can’t wait to read part 2 because I need to know if Derek is the same Derek the sister is about to marry. Lol
This was a very read. Some spice, some comedy and a whole lot of drama. There are several mini storylines happening within the story, and that can be overwhelming if not done right but this author certainly succeeded at that. You should definitely read this book and immediately download the second one.
Very good book!!! Rebecca going through so much in short amount of time! Seeing what happens from friendships and who people are. Love the cover it kept me interested. Writing was formatted perfectly and I will read the next book for sure.
This book was pure drama from start to finish, and I loved every minute of it. Let’s Be Friends is messy, emotional, and full of characters who are hella outta pocket.
From the very beginning, the relationships are layered, complicated, and full of tension. Everybody is making choices that had me laughing, stressed, and completely locked in. It’s one of those books where the drama never lets up, but it stays entertaining the whole way through.
Shantel did entirely too much for me. Boo had zero chill, and Brandon was way too much of a player for the type of woman she was. Their dynamic felt uneven, and that imbalance added a lot to the overall chaos.
Now Brandon and Rebecca weren’t toxic, but they were messy. Their connection felt more emotionally complicated than reckless, and the back-and-forth between them kept things interesting without crossing that toxic line. It was one of the more intriguing dynamics in the book.
Nasir and Ashley added another layer of drama that kept the story spicy and unpredictable. Every time they re-entered the picture, something was bound to shift.
And Nicole and Derek… whew. That situation took a turn that had me heated. The audacity was loud, the behavior was wild, and Derek had me side-eyeing hard.
Overall, this book delivered exactly what it promised: drama, complicated relationships, and characters who stay doing the most. If you love messy storylines, layered dynamics, and a book that keeps you talking long after you finish, this one will do it.
It was an entertaining read. I enjoyed the plot. It read more like a soap opera and I don’t mean that in a negative way. Rebecca was a realistic character of how someone feels dealing with betrayal and heartbreak. I wish there was more about her journey and healing and falling in love again instead of the multiple POVs of secondary and tetriary characters, most of them I personally felt were not needed and didn’t further the plot. A few typos and wrong povs here and there but an interesting read overall.
It took me a good minute to read this book just because there were sooo many mixed reviews so I wanted to give a straight up simple one.
Read it! It's so worth it and this "friend" circle honestly keeps your head spinning but steady wanting more trying to figure out who is going to end up with who, who is really wrong or right if there is a wrong or right
If you're looking for a happy ending this is not one of them lmao I just know there is mess on the way and it essentially ends with a cliffhanger to back me up
This book is Drama, had me reading for more of the dirt, filth, love and excitement on each page. I have to say, this is reality TV in a book. The book does leave you with a cliff hanger, and I’m excited to read the next book in the series!!
1st read by this author. The plot was interesting and made the book flow well. Rebecca quickly gained my heart after being betrayed by Nasir. I am all for her getting a HEA and can’t see how it all plays out for all parties!
This was a 2.5 for me but I rounded up only because I was admittedly intrigued enough to read through to the end. It started off really good and I was way into it, then it started to fall off with editing errors, needless backstory, characters contradicting themselves, unnecessary detail, and way too many POVs. Even in the POV chapter of one character, it would give that of another. Some chapters added nothing to the story at all. It could've flowed so much better without all the unnecessary stuff. I don't enjoy saying all this because at its core, the story was entertaining. But those things really diminished my enjoyment of it.
