Makkelijk te lezen, uitnodigende omslag en pakkende titel. Vooral jongens met nog niet zoveel leeservaring zullen dit boek aantrekkelijk vinden. Vrij voorspelbaar verhaal, jongen krijgt van zijn opa een magische munt waardoor hij speciale krachten krijgt. Deel 2 is inmiddels ook verschenen.
Leuk detail is de kennismaking met de tekens uit de Chinese dierenriem, wellicht voor veel kinderen nog onbekend.

Gelezen in het NL, wel OK op punten en leuke art, maar het was wel een dertien in dozijn boek. Jongen die erachter komt dat ie krachten heeft (vader dood of vermist), geen training en alles gaat mis op de eerste dag, daar is een meisje met ook krachten die houdt van plagen/het beter weet, en zo on. Ik wil gewoon iets nieuws. *zucht*
