Empty Nests #2

Dette Management

Rate this book
I was born of the first line of Vritra, a dragon from a noble drake and a high-born dette in my homelands of India. I was the only dette of my clutch, a treasure raised for political gain, as all my other dette siblings and half siblings were. My drake father’s line had a strong reputation for laying, especially with the help of his alchemist’s tonics grown from sacred flowers in their secret garden.
I am a dette, a treasure, a rarity and precious jewel in these days. A drake is to fawn over me and spoil me, or at least I was told as much. My father gave me to an American drake for a tract of land for my brother’s inheritance, to start the Vritra line there with my brother as head of this new world’s clan. The fates had other plans though, when my heats came and went, and I never produced a single egg for my drake. For forty years, I wilted under my drake’s hand until the truth came to me in the form of five beautiful drakes that swear that I am their prince, bartered with their stolen treasure.
I really want to be their prince, but in my life I’ve not born a single egg, and I want so much to give them pups, to bear that banner of pride, but I don’t know if they’ll be okay without pups, with a defective dette as myself. If I cannot give them pups, then I must be the best prince they could ever ask for.

Dette Management is a sweet with knotty heat MMromance with a sassy omega that loves to be the center of attention. If you like second chance stories with all male harems in omegaverse settings, submissive alphas, and sweet endings that promise a happily ever after with much more to come, download Dette Management: Mounting Interest today.

Good story but not as enjoyable as the first book

I loved Leo and Hallr in Deep In Dette, their story keeping me turning the pages with their unexpected love and even more unexpected pups. There was humour and love and knots and nests and I expected more of the same but this just did not have the same amount of warmth and heart.
Leo and Hallr were so feisty and so much fun but poor Rama had a really bad time of it at first, until he was liberated by five drakes who knew he was theirs from the moment they saw him. By then, we knew all about Rama, his upbringing and expectations as a dette, and how sweet he was.
Once Rama and his den were together, all that happened was sex. There was no real bonding on page and not much characterisation of the five at all. They were little more than names to me, with only Felix and Gaspard having anything to set them apart. There were pups and that was lovely but it was as if it was a different story almost. I did like the gentle Rama transforming into the strong and confident Ryan though.
I don't understand why Rama's brother, Viraj, just left him alone for forty years with Jean. His excuse was Jean wouldn't let him see Rama but that was ridiculous; Viraj was just too wrapped up with his lovers that he couldn't be arsed to bother.
My main concern was Felix. In this book, he was actually described as loving to be subservient, and he was definitely a caregiver and a people-pleaser. In Deep In Dette, he was a complete arsehole, arrogant, haughty and condescending and so far up himself it was untrue. I couldn't reconcile the two versions of him because the Felix in this book would never turn into the Felix in Deep In Dette, not even in the one hundred and fifty years between those two versions. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Even if this was the first book, followed by Deep In Dette, it still wouldn't have made sense to have such a radical change in a character. I think I would have preferred it if the series was presented in chronological order, with Deep In Dette as the third book.
I'm hoping that Settling His Dette will be better but I'm not sure because I didn't think much of Sacha in Deep In Dette but I did love Leo's first words to him. I laughed out loud at that, and I hope if Leo appears at all in Settling His Dette, he continues in the same vein and doesn't give his parents an easy time.

Not sure why this book exists as I was already wondering at the end of book 1 cause I was expecting book 3 to come next.

The pacing is all over the place
Why don’t we have Rama and his five mates in the focus? Why start excruciatingly slowly?
As it is I didn’t get to know the five mates only two had a sort of distinctive voice and the other blurred together.
If they’re not all getting a voice then why write so many? Give him two or three mates and let us get to know them properly rather than a blur of yes, he’s finally getting all the love he deserves from a whopping five dragons!

Also I don’t normally talk about covers but why are there only five people on the cover? the other books always have two showcasing it’s the couple. Where’s our lad of Indian descent on the cover here?

The POVs all over the place: Rama and Felix but no one else counts but they’re still 3rd person POVS so why not make the whole thing 3rd person and not concentrate on two people within a polyamorous relationship? It’s keeping the subaltern silent.

Fun dragon shifter story

This fun second book in this dragon series from Lilo Quie features a male harem story that roves over many years as dette dragon Rama is sent to America to be sold off in return a piece of land. He has a very unhappy time until he meets the five drakes that he is actually meant to be with. There is miscommunication and hurt mostly because Rama has never been able to be who he supposed to be. He eventually changes his name to Ryan which is when I realized that this is actually the backstory of book one Deep in Dette. Okay maybe I’m a bit slow. Lol. I enjoyed this book even more than book one. I can’t decide if it should have been the first book??? I feel like Lilo Quie’s writing has improved as this series goes on and I have high hopes for book three and any subsequent books.

Triumphant! Rama, was born and groomed with expectations for the family and continuing the high standards of a Dette representing Vritra line. He was done wrong with his first drake which resulted in him being isolated and ignornat of how the world works. He accidently meets Felix and his Den and his life changes. There are more misunderstandings, miscommunications and complexities, but a new adventure begins for all. Excellent story. Great group of characters. Excellent humorous times and great smexy times. Will Rama find drakes who understand him and put him first? Will Rama come into his own and be the Dette he was meant to be? What does his Dad say? Will Rama ever have kids? The author does an excellent job world building and creating great characters. Great story. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Dette Management is the second book in this series and follows dragon mates, Ryan, and his harem. This book has everything you could need in a good story, great characters, high heat, all the feels, dragon shifters, and egg pregnancy. The book was well written and has good world-building, but it does take some time to get used to the titles used. I loved the adorable dragon babies. Overall it was a really good read and looking forward to reading more stories in the series. It did feel like this book should be switched with the next or the first in the series instead.

"...theory and practice are two very different things.”

I read this immediately after book 1 in the series, and I guess I was expecting more Leo and Hallr, instead I was sucked in to Rama's story. This is a rollercoaster, a trip through the decades, from when a young, pampered veo discovers the real world isn't always as advertised.

Viraj's community is a delight, worthy of books of its own, with Constance and Thomas' household being g a genuine highlight.

This kindle unlimited book is clearly part of a series, and while it is a solid read, it is clearly providing some set up for the next book, while expanding the world building.

Through Rama we see how we can find ourselves relying on others, disappointed by others, finding our inner strength, and learning to trust and rely on others.

This was ok. Overall, it was a good story but just seemed a bit off. Like maybe it needed to be structured differently or told in a different manner. I think it might have had something to do with this being a relationship between 6 people but only ever was told from Ryan's and Felix's POVs. Also, he was bartered to Jean and what must have been a very crappy 40 years was reduced to a few pages. I don't think it needed to be gone on and on or anything but maybe something different. I liked the scenes with Hallr and getting an update about Leo's fathers. I'm guessing there's a story there. I'm sure I'll read it.

In the first book we were introduced to Ryan and Felix and this is their story. This story begins back in 1784 when Rama who later becomes Ryan has been raised as a Dette that is precious beyond anything and he is sent to the Americas as a trade and given to a Drake named Jean, who was harsh and unloving. When Felix, Jean’s Kinsman shows up and discovers that he had given away land that did not belong to him and purchased a Dette, Felix goes to meet Rama and discovers that he is his fated mate and because of the way Jean had gone about getting Rama, Jean gave him to Felix because after forty years of no eggs, he was barren. This is when the story really unfolds and Rama learns who he is and his importance to his new Den of Drakes.

I enjoyed the overall story line but some things seemed a bit strange: how Felix was in this book compared to book one. I found him so much more pleasurable in this one.
And Rama/ Ryan what he had to bear in my opinion not only at the hands of Jean, but also for a large part due to his brother Viraj his selfishness. I was so happy to see that Ryan found his den with all the men who love and care for him and that he got his much desired pups..

This is another great book to read! This is the second book in the series but it is more like the first one because it explains alot more of the story line and history of the Dette's. Rama is sad for laying blanks for several years. Will he find his happy ending???? Will Rama find the one he is fated for???? Felix is t.aken in by the sweet smell of Rama. Will Felix be the one that Rama is waiting for???.

This was a wild ride! I've read a lot of shifter books but not many about Dragons, which is what originally caught my attention about this book. Dette Management was a fun, quick read with insta-love, a polyamorous relationship, and lots of little dragon babies! I will say, I did get lost a little but here or there, especially because there were A LOT of names in this book, but enjoyed the read overall.

I really enjoyed this book. I was enthralled with book one and excited that this one has a harem. Great world building and characters. I felt really bad for poor Rama and how he was treated for forty years. I loved the dynamic between him and the five drakes who courted him. They were so sweet and attentive to him and I enjoyed seeing Rama's confidence grow. Looking forward to book three. 4 stars.

I loved how Ryan went from the bad situation he was in, to taking his own life direction in both hands including his new Drake mates. He becomes their ultimate dream and they want him as he is. This is such a beautiful story. There is plenty of heat between the sheets. Ryan gets to have his deepest wish/dreams come true. Dragons are wonderful creatures in romance stories, I love them. Great addition to the series!

I loved Dette Management by Lilo Quie. It's the second book in the Empty Nests series. I loved getting to see how Ryan ended up with Felix and his other drakes. They were great together. I'm glad that Ryan finally found a den to worship him. He deserved it after spending forty years with his first drake that was neglectful.

I read this using the Kindle Unlimited app.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Rama is sent to a drake by his family, and it wasn't good. He went years without a clutch or love. A chanced meeting has him being given to five drakes in payment of his drake's debt. However, this wasn't a fair trade as dettes are not property. Rama changes his name to Ryan and when he mates to Felix, Gaspard, Colburn, Karl and Laurent, his life improves by leaps and bounds. Ryan has his first successful clutch and the love of his mates.

Just as enjoyable as the first installment. The mates were so wonderful together and knew what the other needed in this exciting paranormal romance.
If you haven't read the first book, there are loose ends that were covered in this book. Definitely advised to read in order for full enjoyment.

This is a paranormal queer romance with mpreg, the second book in a series that should be read in order. You go back in time to learn Rama/Ryan’s story. It’s such a sad beginning for the poor Dette but he does get his HEA so keep reading! I loved seeing Hellr as a boy, always curious and researching! This is an interesting premise and another great read in the series!

Not a good as the first

I personally don't think this is as good as the first. Felix is horrible in the first book and this book he is all love and joy, it really doesn't fit in my opinion.

good

This was a good book. The story of Ryan and his den. Not sure how Felix went from this sweetness to what he was in Leo’s story, going on about Dette’s obligation for breeding and such and being a butthead.

This reads like fanfic. You get absolutely no character development. These guys are just words on a page and that’s it. You don’t know anything about them other than their name. I wish I was over exaggerating.

Ok so i liked this one more that the first book, and i love this Felix that was presented to us on the book. The growth of Rama into well Ryan is such a beautiful thing to see, because you could see he was insecure before and because of the reassurance and love of his mates he got over it.
Good book, far from a 5 star but still good.Although I can’t get over the cover.

This was an enjoyable read and a lot of the questions from book one was answered in this one.
Rama feels like a failure because he isn't producing eggs. Only to learn that his Drake isn't the right mate.
