The mall shooting that outed Haylie and her guys has left its mark. Two weeks have passed, and while her foster dad was able to quell the media for now, it’s only a matter of time before the world discovers their abilities. To make matters worse, the institute has now set their sights on not only Haylie but also her guys. Amid nightmares and growing powers, will they have what it takes to escape the clutches of the tracker again? And when the tracker threatens the life of those she cares about, will Haylie be able to learn how blood bonds work before it’s too late?
The book was good and I still enjoyed the characters and their story, my only problem is their age. They are juniors in hight school with eight packs, tattoos and who just decided they are going to Alaska without talking to ANY of their parents/guardians. The adults seem at least semi useful in the book but she should have made them seniors or pit them in college, would be a lot more believable.
Other than that it really was a nice story if not a little cliché.
This book took me a couple of days to read. It's has a super slow burn reverse harem relationship with the MFC being super naive (understandable because of her background and it comes across authentic). Also, the plot is moving super slow. Not sure how many books the author plans for the series, but I don't see the story ending with book 3 (due to release in July 2021).
The mall shooting was just the beginning. Now one by one Haylie's new friends are being targeted. Feeling guilty Haylie wonders if she shouldn't pull away to keep them safe. After all, she's been alone her entire life. But the guys won't even consider letting her pull away. For the first time in their lives, they have someone they don't have to hide a part of themselves from. Their powers have increased since she's arrived. And the each genuinely like being around her, maybe even more than like. They are not giving her up. They understand the risk and consider her worth it.
This second book wasn't what I expected. The Institute took more of a backseat, focusing on one dangerous being instead. It did allow for Haylie's relationships with the guys to deepen. Unintentionally, the danger drew them closer and strengthened their feelings. The guy's lack of jealousy is refreshing and their attempts to show Haylie the normal experiences she missed growing up are great. One of my favorite things about Haylie is her fresh approach to the world. I wish there was more of this. I enjoy each time she gets to try something new. There was a bit of development with the missing Kat and it led to an interesting side story of blood bonds. The Chimera are the true strength of this story. When it involves the experimentation, their powers, and the Institute, it is original and captivating. New powers emerging, the boost of known powers keeps me reading. The power hide and seek was fantastic and made me want to play along. It lost momentum a little at times with the attacks but as stated before, they did serve a purpose. The ending showed the direction of the next book. Looks like I may get exactly what I like best.
A slight step backwards from the first, Obsessions is still a strongly-written continuation of a series overflowing with potential and depth.
The overall tone of the novel is a bit more petty and strained at the same time. It bears a striking resemblance to the Halloween novel of the Ghost Bird series in that factor.
Our MC has issues balancing her new trust in friendships and relationships built with her unbalanced and dark past. As such, the whine level of the book is turned up a few notches, which makes it read more like a highschool novel than the first did.
The development of the villain is extremely slow going, to the point where the relationships between the leading characters are slightly overtaking the main plot pusher. Regardless, an interesting sequel that has me hoping for a faster-paced third novel of the series.
I've been sucked in by the writing in this series since book one and book two did not disappoint. I think the plot in this has a TON of potential and can't wait to see the progression of the plot and character development. The guys personalities are all relatable, and I get enthralled while reading this. Def worth the read. The only thing that I questioned was how easily her foster parents accepted her story, seems a little fishy. Curious to see if any of the parental figures are involved or completely oblivious.
Pretty good second book in this series. There were some areas where the story dragged a bit but there were also places it picked up. This one seemed to show more of the characters and how they are working through their relationships. We are learning a bit more about the chimeras and bonding though, but still left with many questions. Some conflict in this one as well. Overall it is still an interesting story and I am interested in what comes next.
Wow! Book number two and the author does not dissapoint! A very good book, Even though I felt there were times where it just dragged on. But over all a very good book, and I can’t wait for the next one :)
YA. Paranormal. Rh. 5 guys. High School setting. Government experiments with super powers. I liked it more than the first one, we have more power info, and plot continuetion, but I want more character backgrounds. Still liking where it's going though. Keep it up!
This series remind a me a lot of academy books but this has.a lot more action and the superhero theme which I love the X-Men I enjoyed I love how the guys are so different but yet that bond that bring a them together good story
I really like this series I cant wait to find out more in book 3. The mfc is cute she is growing as a person so that's always a plus . The boys or should I say men are each amazing in there own right. I highly recommend this book!
Such a good second book. This is a slow burn RH. I love the plot development and character growth. I love this series, also I’m keeping a list of all the unanswered questions to be answered in following books. Love this stuff
I’m loving this Series so much. This series is amazing and I’m so excited for more adventures and hopefully more steam! Love all the characters and the plot is amazing. Can’t wait for the next book.
Good easy read. It was a little flat in parts but it picked up. I enjoyed seeing Haylie and her men again, I also enjoyed hearing more about Kat. Curious about how book 3 will be
