Caz Finlay lives in Liverpool with her husband, two children, and a grumpy dog named Bert. She has two BA Hons in Criminal Justice and Community Justice.
A Probation Officer for fourteen years, Caz has always been fascinated by the psychology of human behaviour and the reasons people do the things they do.
However, it was the loss of her son in 2016 which prompted her to rediscover her love of writing and write her first novel, The Boss.
Author Caz Finlay doesn’t let standards slip in this, her final book of the series, about a Liverpool based gangland crime family.
When head of the Carter family, Grace Carter’s granddaughter Isla goes missing from a children’s soft play area, no stone will be left unturned in their search for her. No one ever crosses the Carters and lives to tell the tale, but with no contact from Isla’s abductors, no ransom note or phone call making demands, they’re at a complete loss as to what to do next.
Grace is on holiday in Spain with her husband and two youngest children, when she receives the call that chills her to the bone - having left her sons in charge of the business, she’s told that Isla ( Grace’s son Jake’s 8 year old daughter has been abducted).
It’s difficult to work out who would do such a thing, because the Carters have such a huge list of enemies, most of them acquired whilst conducting various business activities - but eventually Grace receives a message that determines that the abduction is personal and nothing to do with the business side of things.
As one would expect from author Caz Finlay, this is a gripping storyline with numerous threads that all come together seamlessly. It’s an entertaining read and as this is the last in the series, I for one will miss it, - it has kept me hooked from book #1. Job done!
*Thank you to the publisher who invited me to read ‘A Score to Settle’ in exchange for an honest unbiased review *
When Grace Carters granddaughter goes missing, the family pulls out all stops to find her. But with no ransom demand and no contact from the kidnappers, no one knows where to turn. Then a sinister message directed at Grace informs the family that this isn't business. The abduction is personal.
I can't believe I have just finished the last book in the Bad Blood series. Grace is living in Spain when her granddaughter goes missing. She returns with Michael to find her granddaughter Isla. But who has dared to cross the Carters?
Once again, we have an action packed, gripping, edge of your seat read. I have loved every book in this well written series and I feel like I know all the characters personally. There are a few separate threads to this story, but they are tied up seamlessly by the end. Grace will do anything to get her granddaughter back. We also get the perfect conclusion to a marvellous series, Yes, I'm a bit disappointed that the series has come to an end, but I'm also looking forward to reading what Caz has in store for us next.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #HarperCollinsUK #OneMoreChapter and the author #CazFinlay for my ARC of #AScoreToSettle in exchange for an honest review.
I love these authors books this series will always keep you engrossed. to Grace Carter family is everything. she and Michelle and the children are enjoying their retirement in Spain the boys are in charge now. but as you know nothing ever goes smoothly for this family someone has it in for them, they still can't find Milo Savage. Jake and Danny are very happy but then someone snatches Jake and Siobhan's daughter Isla. so, Grace and Michelle come back from Spain to help find their Granddaughter and Grace will do anything to get her back I so recommend this series.
I love book series and this one is in my top three of favourites, Grace is an amazing character that takes no nonsense from anyone . This one has revenge, heartache and some moments that would make you smile. As far as I know this is the last book in the series and while I hate saying goodbye to Grace and family, I’m looking forward to seeing what Caz Finlay writes next
Grace Carter is a loving grandmother who has just received the shock of her life. Her beloved granddaughter has been kidnapped and they have no idea who could be responsible or why they would take such drastic action against their family. The Carters are determined to get to the bottom of this mystery and find out who’s behind this heinous crime but it won’t be easy. As they dig deeper, they discover that there are more questions than answers and soon realize that someone out there is targeting them in a very personal way.
If you're looking for an exciting read with plenty of twists and turns, then look no further than the Bad Blood Series by author Caz Finlay, especially this latest instalment, ‘A Score to Settle’. Her fast-paced, gripping stories follow a gangland family based in Liverpool. Grace and Michael have retired to Spain with their two youngest children and left their sons in charge of the family businesses. Jake and Sibohan’s daughter, eight-year-old Isla goes missing, initially, they think she has just wandered off until they realise that things aren’t quite as they seem.
A Score to Settle explores revenge in the worst possible way as Grace's family struggles to uncover the truth behind her granddaughter's disappearance. You'll be on the edge of your seat as you follow along with Grace and her family as they try desperately to bring their little girl home safely. With so many enemies though, it's difficult to work out who could be responsible.
The characters in this series are wonderful, especially Grace herself whose courage and determination know no bounds when it comes to protecting her family. It's also great to see her return after being absent in some of Finlay's earlier books. Throughout the story, we accompany Jake on his mission to save his daughter while also discovering what really happened that fateful day when she went missing.
This is the eighth book in the series and the final of the series which I have loved. I am going to really miss catching up with this gangland family who knows no bounds when loving and protecting each other, or indeed when torturing people to get the answers they require!
All in all, if you're looking for an exciting read that will keep you guessing from start to finish, then pick up a copy of Caz Finlay’s A Score to Settle today, or better yet start from the beginning to ge the most out of the series and learn about how the family develops over time. With its fast pace and gripping storyline, plus wonderful characters like Grace Carter, it’s sure to leave you wanting more! What are you waiting for? Go and binge the whole series as soon as you can!
When Isla, Grace’s granddaughter, is kidnapped, the entire family and their loyal followers are ready to take action. But it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack — they have absolutely no idea who could be behind it. As a notorious gangster family, it’s no surprise they’ve stepped on quite a few toes over the years — people who would love nothing more than to take revenge.
If you were a smart perpetrator, you’d disappear without a trace. But if you think you can outsmart the Carters and become overconfident, you’re signing your own death warrant…
The kidnapper isn’t the only one who thinks they can trap the Carters, but this family is no fool — they have an answer for everything.
Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed all the manipulation and revenge, but also the powerful bond that holds this family together. Their love for each other makes them strong — they are always there for one another. They suffer, they celebrate, they fight — but never alone. Always together.
It’s beautiful to also see the sensitive side beneath their tough exterior.
To me, this author is someone who can truly bring gangland crime stories to life on the page, and for that, she fully deserves my 5-star rating.
I am a big fan of this author and series and this book certainly did not disappoint. As always, the author has wrote a cracker of a book here, I feel like I know all the characters having read this series from the beginning. Here Michael and Grace have taken a step back leaving their sons to run the business and return to UK when Isla, their granddaughter, is taken from a children’s play area. Who has taken her and why? I loved the separate story threads here which all came together and were tied up nicely at the end. I was very glad to see that the characters I loathed were found out by the family and dealt with. I really liked the ending as well, it was very fitting for the book/series. Overall a great, entertaining read which I devoured in less than a day. If you’re new to this author and like crime/gangland thrillers give this series a go, you won’t be disappointed although I’d recommend you read the series in order to know the characters from the beginning. Highly recommended.
Grace Carter has retirepud with husband John and gone to live in Spain with their two youngest children and left their two eldest boys to take the helm. Everything was running smoothly until ‘Nudge’ has been found dead with his throat cut. That’s not all. When Jake’s daughter Isla has been with friends in a soft Play area she goes missing. At first, they think that she has just walked away somewhere. Until they receive a bouquet of flowers with a note. They know that Isla has been abducted, in revenge for some of the family members have done. Grace Loves her family so much she returns from Spain to be included in the search to find Isla. She will do anything to find out where she is. Who has taken her and why? Thank you Boldwood books for a copy ‘A score to settle’. Wow Caz Finlay has done it again with another fab read from the author. I couldn’t put this gripping thriller down. I virtually read it in one sitting. I will also miss this series, and this is the last book. It has some great characters in this especially Grace. 5 stars from me.
Liverpool crime series sadly the grand final book eight in the grace Carter family and it's a slap bang wallop read right through to the end. I have totally enjoyed every single book, all engrossed and gripping and there is a big score to settle for feisty Grace and her family. Revenge just got personal, protect your child, imagine the worst possible thing that can happen, when you fear for the worse. This brings Grace and Michael and their two youngest back from Spain where they are now living, their granddaughter Jake and Siobhan daughter Isla only eight years old has been taking kidnapped who has dared to cross the Carters. Police are involved but this family don't hang around for anyone. Oh wow my heart was in my mouth reading this book, and revenge is on going in the worse possible way. Plenty of on going action that will grip and pull you in all the way through. The end was a sorry affair for me as this family will always live on in Liverpool for a lot of years to come, absolutely fantastic.
Here is an author that always gets 5 stars from me and her latest was no different! A Score To Settle by Caz Finlay is the eighth book in the Carter family series and it was another excellent read from start to finish.
Grace Carter has retired to Spain with her loving husband Michael and their two young children. Whilst enjoying the sun and atmosphere her phone rings! Her worst nightmare happens! Her granddaughter goes missing! Grace and her family rushes back to Liverpool with her sons to find out why her granddaughter was taken.
Yes! Grace Carter is Back!!!! The Grace we all no and she will not Stop at anything to find her!
This latest book is gritty and full of great twists and turns throughout. I highly recommend this latest book I loved it.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood books for a copy
Well, Well, Well. Caz Finlay has smashed it again. Another epic read. Book 8 in the Bad Blood Series. As always this book has everything the reader wants from a gritty gangland thriller. Everything and a little more. This time around a feud boiling isn't business, it's personal. Find out what happens when the grandchild of one of Liverpool's gangland bosses is kidnapped. Everyone is on their toes, everyone doing their bit to try and help find her. Grace Carter and her Husband Michael are on the first flight home to Liverpool as soon as they hear the news. Everyone is out of their minds with worry and stress and when you family is the Carter family worry and stress do not mix well. The storyline is this book was first class, amazing real life characters that you just can't help but to like. The characters have been built up superbly over the series and really do get under your skin. Its had to believe at book 8 that everything still feels fresh and new, each time a book is released I thing Caz Finlay is going to struggle to top the last one. I'm pleased to say i have never been disappointed and each one just gets batter and better. Any fans of a gangland crime books will absolutely love this one and if you haven't read the previous book I would say you get a better feel for the characters by reading them in order, but it could be read as a standalone if you wanted.
I first came across Caz Finlay after reading her first book The Boss in 2019. A new author but I knew as soon as I started this series it was definitely an author I wanted read. A Score To Settle finished the series with a banging plot. With Grace and Michael in Spain it’s left to the rest of the Carter family to keep the businesses running smoothly . Grace then receives the phone call that shocks her to the core. Isla her 9 year old granddaughter is missing. Is someone holding a grudge or is it more personal than that. As the family go out and try to find answers, time is running out quickly. I’ve really enjoyed this series, loved the characters. Can’t wait to see what’s next in store from this exciting author
I have absolutely loved this bad blood series following the lives of Grace and her family. Grace has certainly had some ups and downs in her life starting off with Nathan her first husband. After all the trauma and upset with Nathan now in the past Grace and Michael have taken their youngest children to Spain leaving their eldest children to run the business. Getting a phone call saying that their Granddaughter Isla has been taken has them on the first plane back to Liverpool. Can Grace save her family one more time. A fab fast paced read that you will not want to put down. It’s sad when a series comes to an end but it’s also exciting as we wait to see what Caz will have in store for us next. A five star series that I highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was totally hooked from the first page. This book pulls you in and captivates you.
Book 8 in the Carter family and the last one in the series. It was good to catch up with the characters.
Grace and Michael were the king and queen of Gangland Liverpool and have retired to Spain leaving the business side to their Children to run. When little Isla their 8-year-old grandaughter is kidnapped they immediately fly home. They are out for revenge and will stop at nothing to dish it out. Just wow what a smash this is, it's a book that will keep you turning the pages until the very end ending with smoke as it's hot. Crime, corrupt police, torture, and anything else you could possibly want in a gangland crime book. This is a must to read.
Book 8 in the series. Grace Carter's granddaughter has been taken and with no cttv and no contact from the kidnappers, the family need to pull out all the stops to find her fast. When a sinster note is sent to Grace it informs them that it's not business its personal but which one of their rivals would go to such extremes to tear her family apart. Jack Conlon will stop at nothing to get his daughter back even if it means putting his own life at risk. I raced through this book it was so good.Caz Finlay just gets better and better and with this one shes delivered another knockout. Highly recommended Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK for the ARC

Grace and michael fly back to england. Who has isla and where is she? There is no ransom demmand so the family have no leads to find her., then grace receives a sinister message, is it business? Or personal? Who would do this, the family have alot of enemies, but where do they start? Jake conlon islas father has his own ideas of revenge. This is a fast paced gangland book, they get better and better, cant believe this is the 8th book.. highley recommend

This has turned into one of my favourite series! I love Grace, she’s such a badass but she also has a heart of gold too. When someone takes revenge for perceived wrongdoings and kidnaps Isla, daughter of Jake and Siobhan you’d better believe no stone will be left unturned looking for her. Each time I read the latest book in this series, I think Caz has beaten the previous books, but I’m wrong, as this is one hell of a series, even if you just picked up from this one, you couldn’t deny these characters are bloody brilliant and I just can’t wait to see what’s next!!
The carters are a liverpool crime family but family always comes first. when grace carter granddaughter goes missing it looks like a kidnap.grace is sent a message it is not about money it is personel. their enemies are legion . the family pull together to find who is responsable. everything is at stake, a great end to the series it is fast paced and all the characters are great. cannot wait for caz finlays next book hopefully a new series
This is one of my favourite series, set in Liverpool and featuring the Carter crime family. The family is in pieces after the kidnapping of Grace's young granddaughter, with no clues as to the identity of the people involved. I love Grace, she is gutsy, determined and clever but can she find the child before time runs out? Excellent writing, multiple threads and the ending to a great series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
Another absolutely gripping part to this amazing series , each book, in my opinion, just gets better as it delves deeper into the life’s of the carters and there crew, I actually feel like I know them personally. As always lots of toe curling moments of torture and a fantastic plot that makes you just want to keep reading, can’t wait to see what’s in store for them all next.
A good book along with the other books that go along with these stories. Here the boys are retiring and living in Spain and the family is going along smoothly until the granddaughter is kidnapped, now all hell has been broken and they are back not only to find the granddaughter but all of the people behind the kidnapping. An excellent book. I received this book from Netgalley.com
Grace and Michael and the kids are retired in Spain but when the unthinkable happens to her family she returns to show them who’s the boss. This series never lets me down and this did not disappoint. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
What another brilliant book by Caz Finley. I really enjoyed the series following Michael Grace and the rest of the extended family. It's such a shame it's the last in the series.Maybe Caz can bring it back at a later date
I love these series about the Carter clan and Grace Carter is amazing and will do anything for her family hope there will be another follow up of this series.Caz Findlay is a good auther and never disappoints I give this book 5 stars and would recommend this book
Book 8 of the Bad Blood series & Caz has done it again! What a brilliant read, I actually had tears running down my face more than once reading this. I can't recommend this series highly enough!
The finale or is it, absolutely loved this series kept me engaged to the bitter end. Grace Carter is definitely the woman you want by your side of your ever in trouble.
