A team in danger, a trafficking ring hiding in plain sight, and a doctor who isn’t about to let another friend die on her watch.
After a decade of traveling the world, Dr. Kara Kenyon is putting down roots near her sister in Mystery Lake, California. It also happens to be the town sexy operative Ethan Warwick calls home. Attraction crackles between them and she’s looking forward to seeing if it will lead to something more. But when two of her teammates die in unusual circumstances, staying in one place doesn’t seem as safe, or as appealing, as it once did.
Since the day Ethan met Kara, he’s been waiting for her to settle in Mystery Lake. Now that she’s finally here, he plans to take full advantage of the situation. Unfortunately, life has other plans, and the romantic adventures he planned fall to the wayside with the mysterious deaths of her teammates. Especially when it looks like Kara might be the next target.
Instead of quiet walks in the woods, lazy days on the lake, and heated summer nights, Kara and Ethan find themselves on the run from a killer. A killer with a knack for making murder look like an accident and whose motivation illudes them, but whose relentless determination terrifies them. Now they’ll need to risk more than just their hearts if they want to chance at a future.
Tamsen Schultz is the author of several romantic suspense novels and American Kin (a short story published in Line Zero Magazine). In addition to being a writer, she has a background in the field of international conflict resolution, has co-founded a non-profit, and currently works in corporate America. Like most lawyers, she spends a disproportionate amount of time thinking (and writing) about what it might be like to do something else. She lives in Northern California in a house full of males including her husband, two sons, three cats, a dog, and a gender-neutral, but well-stocked, wine rack.
This was another great read in the Mystery Lake Series. The heroes are decent and desirable men, brothers and cousins from a famous family. The heroines and heroes have their conflicts and dangers to work out, and the reads are exciting.
This book can be read as a standalone, but why would you cut yourself off from the previous great reads?
Relentless, like the author's other books (both in this series and others) is both a romance and thriller. It is populated by highly intelligent men and women who know what they want out of life and yet still have the doubts and insecurities that plague us all. I'm sure that this isn't unique, there must be other books out there like this, but I haven't read them. In this third book in the mystery lake series, we follow the story of Kara and Ethan. We met them both in the first book Defenseless. Do you need to have read this book first? Not at all, but it's good, so I would recommend that you do. After years of hiding her identity, (something that is covered in the first book in the series) Kara is ready to change the pace of her life, perhaps to actually put down roots and spend time with her sister. It doesn't hurt that Ethan Warwick, the man that she has been drawn to since they first met. What I really like about these books is that although it is a romance and although it is a thriller, the women that appear in these books aren't in need of saving, they are just as capable (and more so in some cases than their male counterpart). That's certainly the case here and while I enjoyed seeing Kara and Ethan together as a couple, they were so much more than that. This was a great read and I can't wait to return to this family and the Mystery Lake series again soon.
There is something about this series that just sucks me in. I loved the plot and the characters. The writing is excellent and the twists and suspense draw me in. I don’t read a lot of fade-to-black romances, but I love the way it’s done in this book, and this series as a whole.
When Kara and Ethan met in the first book in this series, they felt an attraction to each other. But Kara turned Ethan down because she wasn’t in a place to start a relationship and didn’t want to risk hurting Ethan. Now that she’s back in Mystery Lake 10 months later to be closer to her twin and figure out what’s next, her feelings for Ethan are stronger because of the friendship they’ve built, and although she still feels her life is in flux, there’s no denying the connection between the two of them.
Ethan moves in with Kara after sustaining an injury in a car wreck and they grow even closer. But when Kara’s old colleagues start turning up dead, Ethan and the HICC team decide it’s best that Kara and Ethan go on tour with his cousin Cade to keep Kara safe. While on tour, they work to find the person responsible for the deaths of her former team while also enjoying their new relationship.
I loved the romance and the suspense of this book. I loved Ethan and Kara together and I loved the connection between the Warwick cousins and Kara and her twin, Sabina. It was the perfect blend of family, romance, and suspense.
Relentless is the perfect title for the latest addition to the Mystery Lake series. There's always something going on, whether it's to do with danger or matters of the heart.
Kara and Ethan's story is a sweet one that kept me turning pages wanting to know what was going to happen. Not only was I surprised by the outcome of the main plot line, but I loved that Sabina's sister has now joined the community of Mystery Lake.
Relentless is filled with mystery and intrigue as well as all the geeky, tech things that this author does so well. I love that in each book I learn something new or more detail on some technology that fascinates me as well as knowing I'll be reading an edge-of-your-seat book.
Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC at my request.
Sweet Story The love story between Ethan and Kara is just plain sweet. It shows the buildup, with enough character development and action to keep it from being syrupy, but makes you feel good that they have built their relationship with steadiness. The interaction with all the other family members and characters gives the story depth and interest, rather than just a love story. Relentless seems to be on two levels, constantly building to the end with a denouement worthy of Tamsen’s work. I am enjoying this series greatly and look forward to the next one. Thank you for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
I received an advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own. Dr. Kara Kenyon moves to Mystery Lake to be with her twin sister Sabina after many years of separation. There is a mutual attraction between her and Ethan Warwick, one of the many cousins of the clan in Mystery Lake. Ethan has suspicions about “accidental” death of some of Kara’s colleagues from her aid work overseas and begins to investigate. The hunt has many surprise turns keeping the excitement at a high level throughout the whole story. I love this new series which gets better with each new book and I look forward to the rest.
This series is so exciting! Mystery Lake and all the brothers, cousins, and families make these stories a great read. The romance is this book was slow, they spent a year after meeting communicating while Ethan was traveling doing his security business, and Kara was working with a medical aid group. Kara finally decides to settle in Mystery Lake to spend time with her twin Sabina, and her new husband Chad. Ethan and Kara meet again, and the sparks flame. There are twists and turns and suspense, keeping you guessing till the very end. Looking forward to Book # 4 in the Mystery Lake series.
The story starts out uneventfully enough, but Kara (our hero) finds out one of her colleagues has died. Then another. The story then rushes breakneck through the subsequent deaths and attacks until Ethan (also our hero) and Kara find each other and Ethan’s extended family and their security service find the killer and put an end to his reign of terror. The details make a gripping read.
Another fantastic addition to the Mystery Lake series. I totally loved Ethan and Kara together. Both were strong characters which I enjoyed. A perfect mixture of action, suspense and romance. So much so that you're flipping pages and before you know it you devoured the book. I received an advanced copy and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.
When Kara returns to Mystery Lake where her twin sister Sabina is, she meets Ethan Warwick again. He wants more than friendship. But the people Kara worked with as aid doctors start getting killed. Now he has to protect her and together they must try to find out, who's trying to kill her. 3rd book in the Mystery Lake series. Can't wait for the next book!
Relentless continues the series set in Mystery Lake with a story that has all the feels coupled with suspense, some angst and some very surprising twists and turns. I loved all the characters - except for the villain of course - and am already looking forward to the next one. I was fortunate to get an advanced copy and am leaving this review honestly and voluntarily.
Action packed and full of suspense! I'm really loving this new series. The characters are all intriguing and Kara and Ethan have chemistry through the roof. The romance is both sweet and sexy. The mystery kept me guessing. There's just the right dose of humor. And I loved the last line! I can't wait for more.
Ethan and Kara were great characters for this book and the chemistry between them was phenomenal! I felt like the plot had a great blend of mystery, suspense and romance — all the while keeping you on your toes until the very end.
I received this book as an ARC reader and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This series is so good! This is the 3rd book and it is just as good as the first two. I love the way it is written and the characters. I love books with families of characters. The suspense is full of twists and really enjoyable. The romance adds flavor. Very entertaining!
Wonderful story. Mystery, threats, and murder all in one book. I did not figure out who was behind the murders until you told me. Hoping Cody and Tia’a book is next. I know wishful thinking on my part, but you put into my mind. As always keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.
I found this series by accident and am hooked. I read book 1 and 2 first, but you can read as a stand alone. Family as laced through out this series and watching Ethan and Kara deal with family, build a relationship and deal with the mystery delivered on all levels.
These books always just hit right. It is enough drama to keep you engaged but not so much that you are rolling your eyes the whole time. The romance in this one was pretty immediate, but it made sense and it opened up more time to go towards the overarching plot. And let me just say - I love a romance that COMMUNICATES.
An intriguing story with Dr Kara and Ethan. She’s ready to stay in one place, especially her home town. When murder happens to those near her, things drastically change. Fast paced, loads of action. Loved it. Ready for more.
An engaging romantic suspense. At first it seemed as if were a romance but then the mystery began. Lots of family to rally around the problems and to make snide remarks and teasing for lightness. Grateful to the author for providing a copy. My review is voluntary. Great series!
Kept me in the edge throughout. Absolutely adore the camaraderie between everyone involved, especially the bits of snark with all. Cannot wait for next instalment and this is an absolute Must read!
Love these books, I do wish the love scenes weren't so fade to black, lots of lead up but no pay off - other than that, no complaints, great H's and equally as good h's throughout.
These two are a unique couple. Both have mystery and adventure in their blood. So far Sabrina and Chad plus Kara and Ethan have been two couples to beat. Looking forward to a story about Cody and Tia.
Another brilliant and moving story in this series. Relentless is absolutely the verb to describe the mysterious murder, but the cyber sleuth twin fights to find the man or is it a woman. You have to finish it to know!
I’m about to start book 4 of this series. Love it! Great characters, mysteries, romance without trashy, lengthy, descriptive sex. Love the family ties involved. I’ll be sorry when I’m done with this series.
Great read. Very interesting characters involved in this story. Trying to identify a killer is keeping Kara and E busy. As well as the HICC and chats group of security. Rough case and hard work trying to keep Lata safe. Very interesting rea dc ing.
