Someone wants Jacq Sheppard dead. FBI Special Agent Jacq Sheppard has been fighting for trafficked women since the day her best friend disappeared at the hands of a trafficker thirteen years ago. While searching for a missing young woman, Jacq is convinced she sees her long lost friend, Morgan. Is it possible she's part of the sex trafficking ring her team has been investigating?
But Dylan Harris, the FBI Special Agent teammate she's been dating for the last month, doesn't believe her. On top of his doubts, they still haven't told his parents about their relationship. The same parents who'd disapproved of her when she'd dated his brother Chad back in college. Can Jacq's and Dylan's relationship survive Mrs. Harris's criticism?
When things heat up and an assassination attempt almost kills Jacq, questions arise. Who would want her dead and why? Is it connected to the trafficking ring? More importantly, can Jacq survive being under fire?
Under Fire is Book Two in Liz Bradford's Knoxville FBI series. Be sure to read book one, Into the Flames, first if you haven't already!
This suspense novel was definitely intense and fast paced. It kept me engaged from start to finish. The story involves human trafficking and sexual assault. The author handles it sensitively but the story does discuss details that may trigger some readers who have been effective by this. I am thankful to the author for bringing awareness to this important topic.
The suspense has lots of twists and turns and you probably won’t have everything figured out. Just like the first story in this series, everything is not wrapped up at the end but I imagine this is because the next book will cover more.
This book was gripping from the very beginning. It was so hard to put down. I love how it continues Jacq and Dylan's story while really beginning to show us more and more about Morgan and Gio. It's going to be a hard wait for book 3 and 4.
I love how Liz ties in relationships with the Lord in such a story telling way. Quite commonly, the Christian life is just a word or two in books like these but Liz weaves it throughout the story to bring to life what God calls us to do.
I liked reading Under Fire the second in the Knoxville FBI series. Jacq and Dylan are a great couple I enjoyed getting to know. Through many trails Jacq learned she needed to depend on other people not just on herself. Human trafficking is a terrible thing and more needs to be done to help people caught up in trafficking. The story kept me reading and did not want to put it down. I look forward to the next novel in the series hopefully about Gio and Morgan. I recommend to young adults and older.
More of Jacq and Dylan's story, with a little more about Gio and Morgan as well. I really enjoyed that the series is actually a true series where the scene doesn't immediately shift away from our first characters but revisits them, working as an engaged couple. It was honestly a nail-biter as Morgan goes through more and more serious abuse at the hands of her captors.
Content: prostitution, SA, rape, drug use, human trafficking: 18+ read
The continuing story of Dylan and Jacq, their journey through their faith and growth in the Lord, all while action continues, sucks you in with the first pages! This had it all: love, relationship roller coaster, action, emotional heights, and deep trusting friendships. I could not put it down! Bravo!
Under Fire is a highly suspenseful novel that grabbed my attention from the first page. Liz Bradford tackles some heavy topics in this story but with care. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
This is the second book in this series and it is about finding and affecting trafficking agents and rescuing victims and having faith in the lord and following his guidance
This 2nd book in this series is more exciting, mysterious & intriguing than the first - I could hardly put it down! Fun, interesting lifelike characters work out issues & learn life lessons along the way.
Interesting and suspenseful Christian fiction. Morgan's dilemma was heartbreaking. The trafficking of young girls and women is horrendous. Brave men and women make a difference.I
I didn't want to put it down. I kept trying to figure out who the bad guys were and were they going to get caught. I figured one out correctly before it was revealed. I was happy to know that one I thought was bad but wasn't.
Liz Bradford's handling of an extremely sensitive topic is to be commended. Sadly, there is so much truth behind the fiction. So many young girls, boys, and women are trafficked into the sex trade. The reality is brutal. I hope this book will open more people's eyes to the truth behind the fiction.
I just found another great writer . I’m looking forward to reading this whole series. Liz Bradford will keep you guessing as to who is who ? Looking forward to Gio story too. While Gio dreamed of Morgan. What God has store for them.
I love this series. The characters are great! There is a "can't put the book down" read about it! I finished this one at 3am in the morning as I was dreaming about the characters. LOL> Ordered next in series.
I love the suspense and character details of a story by Liz Bradford. Yes, there is romance but there is a whole lot more. The actions keeps one reading. Who would suspect a mole inside the FBI office, know as Scar.
This is the first book I have read by this author. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put the book down. Suspense at every corner. Very well written. I have put on my wish list all the other books in this series. I hope to order the books soon.
This series needs to be read in order. Saying that, I have not read the prequel, and I don't feel as it I have missed anything. I will do back to it after I finish the series. Good clean romance.
Holy smacks! Action all the way. It was a hard read for me because of my childhood but it is an excellent story. This is not fiction, human trafficking exists.
It is wonderful to find a Christian author who write mystery thrillers! It's like a breath of fresh air! This series is absolutely fantastic, I highly recommend them!
Book 2 and It’s Even Better. Bradford has hit a home run with this one. She is an excellent writer and her stories are filled with faith and what it means to trust God to get you through difficult situations in your life. This one will keep you turning the pages until the end. There are some very intense situations as Jacq and Dylan deal with the human traffickers and try to stay alive. Also cheering for them to work out the problems in his family and with their romance. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. You will want to read this series in the order written
