Huh?! What does he even mean?! Stupid brat!! First he doesn’t push that girl away―after she kissed him―and now he’s saying THAT?? While eating squid? I mean, I know I’m the one who’s been avoiding talking to him head-on, and I did tell him to wait three months, but I was getting there, okay? Ugh, and as if that wasn’t enough to deal with, what was going on with Hakamada-kun at the festival...?
Reread November 2025 - enjoyed it but am really ready for their relationship to move forward more. It wouldn't be as nagging to me if so much time wasn't passing with so few interactions really.
(April 2024) I really loved a lot about this one! It brings up some uncertainty to their relationship and also some sweetness. Loved the bonus stories. I was excited about a bit more growth to their relationship.

Honestly, this story has becoming so repetitive, and I usually don't have a problem with angst like this, though this is ridiculous at this point.
This series is the EPITOME of one step forward...two steps back.
As soon as the romance blossoms, it is struck down and reversed and/or slowed, and Yuki is the culprit as she is always being both hot (in small action bursts) and cold (99% of the time) towards Naruse. I usually don't mind this in romance manga and novels, but it HAS be more than that. I need less of this and more of Yuki figuring out herself and being the strong person she ACTS as if she is because she's really not. At this point, she is still hiding her feelings and acting annoyed with Naruse, despite not feeling annoyed. It's getting old at this point especially with this external persona she creates for herself. Now, she finally confessed to him, though it's as is nothing has changed.
Also, apparently Yuki has two best friends that are never seen or mentioned up until this volume, which...is odd, but okay?
Cheeky Brat is a thoroughly enjoyable young romance. Yuki is the high school basketball team manager, a very stoic and dedicated individual who is always professional in her job and in her personal life. Stumbling upon her when she's showing an unusual bit of emotion, Haruse, the team's cheeky playboy, is intrigued with Yuki and pursues her romantically. Their romance continues to be about opposites that attract. Her dedication to avoiding romance is infuriating, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I see many comparisons to Maid Sama, but My Little Monster also comes to mind. I enjoyed the story, and especially the likeably awkward third point on the love triangle. Additionally, the illustrations, especially those of the basketball players, are excellent.
Love it, love it, love it!!!

This volume has some drama with the girl who likes Naruse and the boy who likes Yuki. I don't care much about recalling their names.
I wouldn't have liked this volume as much if it wasn't for Yuki finally confessing her feelings. I hope this means they're finally dating.
The next volume will cover the cultural festival, which I'm very excited for! Almost every young adult manga has a cultural festival arc and I always had so much reading it.
As happy as I am to see Naruse and Yuki finally becoming a couple, I am choosing to drop this series. The overall flow of the story, to me at least, has been feeling very repetitive. Also, I’m just learning of Yuki’s 2 best friends and don’t have any recollection of the girls in the first 5 volumes of this story due to how much of the story is focused on Yuki being around Naruse and the rest of the basketball team.

Grew up in the world of manga, anime, etc. 😅 I have no particular preference in terms of the genre but this one is so refreshing to read! So chill and just gives off "good vibes only." So funny too. Reading this makes me feel so nostalgic and reminisce about great times during high school and university days. Highly recommended! No drama here. Just awesome plot 😉
Finally!! They officially confessed and become a couple after 6 volume T.T!! Naruse & Yuki are so cute with those text message. Not me crying and wailing because I seem to kinda miss my ex when reading their text 💀
In volume 6, Yuki still is unsure what it means to be in a relationship--and what exactly she feels for Naruse. She's pretty sure he's serious about his confession... right?
Another volume down and Yuki is finally coming to terms with her feelings. (!!)
