I have to admit I was disappointed with this final book in this series which I enjoyed. I don't know for sure if it's because it was the length between the release of the last book and I forgot the storyline but I just couldn't reconnect at all. I truly believe that a recap should preface all series books to once again engage the reader. With that said I found the story lacking and kept waiting for more to happen. Felt let down.

This book has left me incredibly disappointed. It felt rushed, with little to no care about these characters. It's extremely anticlimactic and doesn't feel like an ending at all. Ugh. I loved this series, but this book destroyed it.

Disappointing End

I have read all of Jenetta Penner’s books and most are pretty entertaining and you get what you get which is decent dystopian storytelling for young adults. I waited so long between all these books for each to come out and often forgot people and storylines as there was no real recap at any time. It is definitely better to read them back to back now that all books in the series are out. However, this book left a lot of areas blank and would jump to days, weeks or months ahead. *Spoiler Alert Warning* The end completely ruined the whole thing for me when the book ended and it said to read the Configured series which is supposed to be 100 years in the future of the group of protagonists from Undivided. It’s like all the struggles to be equal and build a better world meant absolutely nothing. By using AI to remove the knowledge of the Cobalts and Scarlets caste system from their minds, it led them to make even more mistakes and instead of a better world we get a worse world even more divided in the future. So the whole idea of being Undivided like the title says is B.S. Very bad choice. Up until this point it was ok. Had no idea this was a prequel to Configured. It is like the author just decided this while writing the last chapter. Very disappointing.

Great close to the series

I wasn't expecting the release of Undivided but non the less was thrilled to dive back into The illusion of Truth series. After a quick reread I made sure to pay attention to family names as well as area descriptions to later use and gave a complete understanding of how New Philly, the Alliance and Affinity and Elore came to be. This book gave us readers the closer we needed and was well worth it. Great story, (much was a reminder to the trauma we faced with Covid, yet handled with grace for those who dealt with similar situations during the height of covid.
The world Mrs Penner created for both this series and its sequel trilogy, The Configuration Series was well thought out and perfectly executed. Bravo!

I did enjoy the book, but the ending felt really rushed. Felt like things wrapped up a little too neatly.
