I’m so confused by the character of Kelly. She’s an FBI agent and a forensic analyst. She’s supposed to be super intelligent. She can’t cook, and she knows this. I do not for one minute believe that a character with those traits would try and cook without a recipe and just make it up. If she’s got half a brain and one eye open she would have been looking stuff up on the internet. And the author has her trying to cook this way twice in this book. Clearly she thinks that Kelly’s failed attempts to cook are hilarious, but it’s just so out of character that it makes no sense. Kelly also keeps jumping to conclusions and acting impulsive like a teenager.

In addition to this, early on in this book it’s established that the two main characters are non drinkers, yet both drank a lot of wine at that dinner! I’m sorry but this was badly written and badly edited (two untitled chapters and each book seems to change the back story of how their mother died from the tale told in the previous book). It gets 2 stars for the side characters and the ongoing series storyline.

I very much like Cynthia Dees stories, especially this series. Good storyline and characters, though this isn't my favourite of the series. I think Maci may be next....looking forward to it. 4☆
