Feathers fly when the president of the district poultry club and his prize-winning rooster are brutally murdered just days before the district agricultural show.
Senior Constable Ivy Driscoll has been transferred to the rural police station of Donnywell following a scandal at her city precinct. But no sooner has she arrived than crimes start being committed. Even though she is the granddaughter of the Country Women’s Association royalty, Ivy is quintessentially a city girl, knowing nothing of domestic life, baking or rural daily life and goings on.
Ivy must solve the murders to prove herself fit for the job, win the hearts and minds of the locals, and restore calm in the small town she would very much like to call home.

Right out of the gate, I was rallying for the main character. Ivy, big city cop relegated to a rural posting had been dealt a shit hand of cards and found herself in the less than enviable position of having to take a boring, rural posting. Before she's even officially started, two murders rock the small town of Donnywell and she's forced to find the culprits before things get out of hand. Easy to read and full of wonderful, colourful characters, this is a great story that transports you to the heart of an Australian country town where chickens, scones and sinking beers is all in a days work. Great story.....highly recommend.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner features Ivy, a young cop sent to a small town by her supervisor/lover, after his wife had taken offence to their relationship.
The wheels fall off Ivy’s new life the moment she arrives, in the form of a flat tire and no spare. But the country folk are helpful, especially the local vet, Paul. As Ivy orients herself to the new town and its people, she hides her mobile phone so she can avoid her ex’s calls and start her life afresh. Bad boy, cousin James, with his sloppy appearance and bad manners, promises drama. But the real dramas lay in the chook pen, after both fleshed and feathered bodies are found.
A dead man. A dead rooster. A vivid and bloody mess. Great pace. Endearing characters. Red herrings galore. Sarah Jackson’s dry wit and catchy storytelling is a great escape.
Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries, “Winner winner chicken dinner” introduces city cop Ivy, banished to the country for circumstances beyond her control. Poor Ivy doesn’t even get to unpack before she’s thrust into country life by a murder most fowl! Jackson taps into the intricacies of rural living and introduces a raft of quirky characters for Ivy to get to know as she balances moving to a new town with working out which of her new neighbours is capable of murder. A fast paced and easy read, there’s a lot here for readers to enjoy.
I hope this will be a series and that threw will be more to come. This was a great book. Ivy had a big job ahead of her and it was a good one. I knew that lady was a loon. Something was just off about her. And glad to see Gareth get his. I really want more from all these characters. It was so fun.

This book, had to read just because of the title. This book was really good, I had such a hard time putting the book down. The murderer is not who I expected and was surprised because of the reason. Loved it.

I'm so excited that you have chosen to read my book. It was a crazy, fun story to write and hopefully, you will have fun reading it.
The book won't be to everyone's taste, but what book is? The story is a cross between a rural cosy mystery and a police procedural, with a touch of romance and an emphasis on humour. There are chooks, cows, scones, cakes, old biddies and even murder.
I love reading your reviews, good, bad and indifferent, and appreciate the time it takes to write one.
Thanks for giving "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner" a chance. Enjoy
