This was a lovely cozy read, not as Christmassy as I thought but, I have read a lot of Christmas books lately. This story just gently moved along and I sank into it knowing I would enjoy it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I enjoyed this cozy holiday book that definitely had quite the share of drama. This book follows Freya that has her wedding booked at Seabrooke farm, and has her world turned upside down by a family secret and the wedding being called off. She decides to go to the farm anyways and meets the really nice family who runs it.

What I liked the most about this book was the characters. Freya seemed lost in her turmoil a lot, but it was nice to see her creating connections. Sometimes I wanted to yell out at her to stop and actually listen to others. The farm family (Karen, Ellie, Alan, Ben, etc) were so real and warm.

So the main plot of who Freya was searching for was a bit predictable. I had guess correctly when that character was introduced. Even with the story being predictable, I loved the warmth and storytelling in this book. Of course a little romance and challenges with that made for a nice side plot.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

Where do I begin, with this, everything is all swirling round my head at once, how much I love Freya, how much I loved the story, the writing, the emotions, just everything, second chances and returning home, everything ticked my boxes with this joy to read book.

I’ll start I think with my love for our MC Freya, because I really did adore her, with how much she goes through at the start and has been through , she’s so resilient, with support from Karen, Ellie et al her journey is just so lovely.

I really like how Jo writes about normal people, no out of the ordinary people, just everyday people you’d know, I love how she makes me feel somany different emotions in just one book , how addicted I am once I get into the pages, the hearts of the characters, but overall I love that this story holds all the most important things you need, friendship, family, love and community.

Thanks to Jo Bartlett, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and voluntary review, all opinions are my own and freely given.

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm is a very heartwarming, family orientated book, that is full of emotional ups and downs and I absolutely loved it!

From the very beginning I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and just kept reading more and more because i just wanted to know what was going to happen next.

I loved the character Freya and was so glad that i went along on her journey with her, it was so lovely and emotional too.

I loved where the book was set and the whole story was like a great big hug and definitely got me in the holiday spirit…….

I’ve absolutely loved reading Jo Bartlett’s Cornish Midwives series over the past couple of years so I was looking forward to learning about a new set of characters and a new location. And with this one being a Christmas book I just couldn’t resist - although I do now need to go back and read book 1.

Seabreeze Farm is a lovely costal location and I could just imagine Ginger running off along the beach and the little independent shops lining the high street, id love to visit somewhere like this one day and it always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I felt like I knew these characters almost immediately and I definitely want to know more about what they get up to in the future. Freya’s journey is different to most other romance storylines which I quite liked and it helped to embed the sense of hope that was an undercurrent of this book.

When the truth was revealed I was amazed I hadn’t guessed it but it just fitted so well and I did find myself reaching for the tissues pretty swiftly! A tear or two may have spilled out but that was because I just wanted to see Freya get a happy ending that she so clearly deserved! Now I’m just hoping that she sticks around Seabreeze Farm or at least Kelsey Bay rather than heading off to London! Fingers crossed for the next book!!!!

Freya was supposed to be getting married but the wedding is off, she saw her fiancé Ollie with her bridesmaid and she feels betrayed. Freya has also discovered a family secret concerning her father!
The wedding venue was booked for Seabreeze Farm in Kelsea Bay and accommodation was booked for a few nights before the honeymoon so she decides to go there away from everyone. Seabreeze Farm sounds idyllic and The Stables is the perfect place for Freya to escape to. Full of family, love and second chances, an emotional and uplifting read.

My Opinion

This was such a sweet read, and whilst set at Christmas it was not overly festive. I haven't read the first book in the series, but that in no way affected my enjoyment of this book. From reading this, Seabreeze Farm seems like a lovely place if an escape is needed. This book really did make me feel like I was finding new friends, a great read.

Freya Halliwell is looking forward to marrying the man of her dreams. After the death of both of her parents, Ollie, along with Freya’s aunt, are the only family she has, and needs. When Freya discovers that the man she called father all her life was not her biological dad, she is thrown for a loop. She feels alone and vulnerable. She postpones her wedding and heads to Seabreeze Farm to heal and decide what to do next.

I enjoyed this story, but besides being set at Christmas time, it wasn't really a Christmas story. Freya's wedding was booked for Seabreeze Farms, but when she postpones it, she heads there to stay for a few days to sort things out. The story is heartwarming, with lots of ups and downs emotionally. I loved the setting and all the characters, especially all the animal ones. Freya was a woman who has not had the best life, with the loss of her parents and now the big secret they had kept. She needs time to figure things out and I don't blame her at all. There is a big reveal at the end that I had not suspected and I was happy to see how things worked out for Freya. This is the second book in this series and I now want to read the first one and get to know the characters even more. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Hollie Hales. This is the first time I have listened to her and I enjoyed her peformance.

This is the second book in the fabulous sea breeze farm series but could be read as a standalone although I recommend reading both books for maximum enjoyment. If you enjoyed this authors other series then Cornish midwives then you are in for a treat with this one.

This was a story of friendship,, family and love and loss and how secrets from the past can affect/shape the future. The story also featured a lot of community spirit and a touch of Christmas magic. This was the perfect escapism read and once I had picked it up i read it in one sitting.

I would love for there to be more books written in this series in the future as the it features such a delightful setting and heartwarming characters.

Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is the second book of the Seabreeze Farm series by bestselling author Jo Bartlett. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the first book to get to know some of the characters who reappear in the second book.

Freya Halliwell is excited to marry Ollie and move to London to start their new lives. Freya’s aunt and Ollie are all the family she has left after the death of her parents.

Freya discovers a shocking secret when she stumbles across a journal belonging to her mother while packing up her flat. Everything she thought she knew about her family especially her dad leaves her confused and devastated.

Freya needs time to come to terms with the news and calls off the wedding and escapes to Seabreeze Farm.

Can the residents of Seabreeze Farm, the surrounding community, friendship, and love help Freya accept that family comes in many ways..

Jo Bartlett writes such lovely stories set in stunning settings. I highly recommend this series or any book by this author.

A special thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC I received in exchange for my honest opinion.

A festive, heartwarming, and sweet story about losing your past and finding your future.
Seabreeze Farm novels are escapism at highest level but are also novels that talks about women who are facing big changes in their life.
Freya is facing big changes as she run away to Seabreeze trying to make sense of what happened to her love life and her sense of identity after some important discoveries.
This is a story that starts with a young couple who's going to get married and face a lot of changes and becomes the story of a woman who must understand what her life will be.
A lot will happen, some parts moved me and some other made me smile.
I was happy to catch up with Ellie, Karen, Alan and Ben. They're as lovely as they were in the first book and the rescue animals are an added bonus.
I loved this Christmas novel as it's a compelling and well plotted story.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for this arc, all opinions are mine

Just sometimes, Christmas reads are full (to overflowing) with tinsel, sparkling lights, mince pies and turkey, the snow gently falling – and yes, you know I love every one. But this one is a lot more about the spirit of Christmas – being wrapped in love, finding family (even if it’s not your own), feeling that you belong, and everyday acts of kindness – and I have to tell you that I thought it was just wonderful.

After a really lovely prologue that sets the scene, I took Freya to my heart from the very beginning – I really did ache for her – when, still grief stricken after the loss of her mother, she discovers that the man she always called “dad” wasn’t actually her father. Still reeling from that news, she wants to share the news with fiance Ollie – their marriage is all planned for just before Christmas, followed by a move to London – only to find him looking very cosy with her bridesmaid, who’s also her best friend. So she decides to run, to a place where no-one will expect to find her – to Seabreeze Farm, where the accommodation is already booked for the planned wedding, and facing a sad and lonely Christmas at Kelsea Bay, where she has so many memories of happy family holidays.

Dogs always know when you need a cuddle, don’t they? Ginger, the lovely little terrier, moves into the Old Stables with her, and accompanies her on her solitary walks. But she’s also embraced by the family now well-settled at Seabreeze Farm, who you’ll already know well if you’ve read the first book in the series (but you really don’t need to worry if you haven’t – you could quite happily read this one as a standalone). Ellie’s heavily pregnant, and her mother Karen is off her feet after an accident, so they’re glad of Freya’s help in looking after all the rescue animals and running the last two events of the year – and Karen’s particularly grateful for someone to keep an eye on her and to chat with. But if Ellie’s touched by how readily she’s embraced as part of the family, they have their reasons to be particularly grateful for her presence – a moment of real drama, really well handled.

And, with help (at a distance) from her beloved auntie Linda, she continues the search for her real father – with lots of false leads and more than a little misdirection. I’ll admit I rather thought I could see the direction in which that storyline was heading – but you really will have to read the book to find out if I was right.

There’s a real warmth to this book – it’s rather a trademark of Jo Bartlett’s lovely writing – and the emotional content is just perfect. All the characters are beautifully drawn, as is the location – and the storytelling is superb, taking you away from your own day-to-day and immersing you in the lives of others. And the book’s ending? I loved it – everything I wanted it to be. And if you’re looking for that Christmas feeling, you’ll certainly find it here – and you’ll be smiling and wiping away a tear at times, as I was. A really lovely read – and a definite recommendation from me.

Freya and Ollie are looking forward to life together a planned wedding at Seabreeze Farm and a new life in London with lots of babies.
But life should never be planned out and Freya still hold a heartache of not knowing who her real father is and she is never going to give up searching.
The magic of this book takes us up to Christmas and has so many ups and downs along the way, I could not put it down and it will touch your heart as you turn page after page.
Once again the author brings the book alive like your in there with the characters, I loved every bit.

When Freya gets 2 sets of devastating, life changing news on the same day she flees to Seabfreeze farm , one place she felt safe and comforted, the place that reminded her of her mother.

This book has everything from mischievous farm animals, a touch of mystery and intrigue with a little bit of a twist, some romance, found family, amazing new friendships, Christmas, snow and the gorgeous Cornish countryside.

I loved Freya as a character, I would have reacted the same way she did to the situation, not quite a miscommunication ( in my opinion) , I think she not only found family at Seabreeze farm she also found herself. I loved all the secondary characters too and loved Auntie Linda colouring her hair! Ellie and her mother Karen were understanding and just what Freya needed. Even the closed off Alan had a soft side. There was definite growth in Freya, she just needed that little bit of a scenery change to realise what she needed.

This is the second book in this series, but I don't feel it was a spoiler because its different characters stories, but I will be checking out any books in this series, the setting is simply devine and the characters memorable and truly likeable.

This was such a feel good book that has left me with the 'warm fuzzies'

Another gorgeous read from Jo Bartlett. Her characters and place setting come alive again in this heartwarming story about love and friendships. I can always rely on a Jo Bartlett book to give me a hug and Freya’s journey is emotional and beautiful. Seabreeze Farm sounded the perfect place to regroup and decide on next steps and Karen and her family were wonderful hosts.

Fans of Jo Bartlett’s books are going to fall in love with her latest, Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm.

I can never say no to reviewing a Jo Bartlett book; because her books always have so much charm and depth. Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is a novella (less than 150 pages) from the Seabreeze Farm series. It takes place four years after Welcome to Seabreeze Farm. You could read this book as a stand-alone, but I wouldn’t recommend it because this story builds on events that happened in the previous book. This book is a fun, easy breezy read. I have found that The Seabreeze Farm series tends to be more fun and lighthearted; compared to Jo’s Cornish Midwife series, which often tackles more serious issues and will usually have you reaching for the tissue box.

This book introduces us to Freya, who is having a terrible, no-good day. It turned out that the man Freya believed was her father wasn’t actually her biological father. Freya is devastated and hurt. She cannot believe that her family would lie to her about something so important. Things get even worse for Freya when she stumbles upon Ollie (her finance) and Sophie (her best friend) having what appears to be a very romantic lunch. Freya confronts the two, and the argument results in a broken engagement. Freya heads to Seabreeze Farm for a much-needed escape and to discover who her birth father is.

This book starts with a bang! The drama unfolding in the first few chapters will capture any reader’s attention. The story’s main focus is around Freya trying to discover who her birth father is. This is a challenging journey because Freya’s mother passed away two years ago and left little to no information about her life before Freya’s birth. I found myself quickly becoming invested in Freya’s search. I was curious if her father was a character I already knew or someone we hadn’t been introduced to yet. I got frustrated when setbacks in the search happened and excited when new facts came to light. The man who turned out to be her father was a real surprise to me, and I loved how that part of the story wrapped up.

Fans of Welcome to Seabreeze Farm will be thrilled to know that parts of this book are told from Ellie’s POV. She and Ben are happily married and are expecting their first child. My heart burst with happiness when I saw that these two got their happily ever after. I loved their part in this book and the friendship between Ellie and Freya. It was so heartwarming. It was a joy to return to Seabreeze Farm. The animals are just as crazy and adorable (of course) as ever. They are a source of fabulous entertainment.

The romance in this book takes a backseat in the overall story. Freya and Ollie split up right at the beginning, and the majority of the book is about Ollie trying to reach and talk to Freya. I struggled with Freya’s rash decision to end her relationship with Ollie. Part of me understood that she was under a lot of stress, but I don’t know if it justified ending her relationship and cancelling her wedding without actually having a conversation with her boyfriend. I understand that having Jo leave her relationship allowed for the story to go in the direction it did, but having these two go on a break would have been more believable and not as jarring to the overall story.

Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is a charming and heartwarming story.

Everyone needs their family…

Freya Halliwell is looking forward to marry the love of her life, Ollie. After just recently having lost her mother, she is now ready to start her own family with Ollie, with the constant support of her aunt.
But one day her whole world falls apart as she discovers a secret that everyone hid from her. And now she questions everything she thought she knew about her parents. The cherry on top of the cake is when she finds Ollie in a restaurant with his best friend and the scene is too cosy for Freya’s liking.
With the wedding suddenly off, Freya needs a place to recover, so she decides to keep her reservation for the Seabreeze Farm, but only for her.
With the warm and compassionate welcome she receives from Ellie, Freya may also find the answers to all of her questions, and even find a bond that is normally only for families…

It's no secret how much enjoy reading each book this author writes. So I was a bit disappointed in myself when I realized that this was the second book in the series, and I haven’t read Book N. 1.
However, now I know which book I have to read next! And it isn’t mandatory having read the first book to truly enjoy this book.

Freya is a character that gave me mixed feelings. Because I felt so sorry for her, as she is still grieving the loss of her mother, but I was also happy for her that she soon would be marrying Ollie.
I understood how shocked she was with her discovery and how she started to question just everything and everyone.
And then calling the wedding off, was perhaps understandable, but also an overreaction, as it was just on top of already a terrible day for Freya, especially as we have seen how understanding and loving Ollie has been before.
I just couldn’t put those two versions of Ollie together, I just couldn’t see Ollie being that kind of guy.

But this story isn’t about Freya and Ollie, it’s about Freya and her search for family.
I can only try to understand how Freya feels, as the man she loved dearly turns out not to be her biological father.
However, I can understand her desire to find her biological father, as Freya has obviously questions to ask him.

From the start, it’s crystal-clear that Seabreeze Farm is a wonderful place, with amazing people. The way not only Ellie, but her whole family welcomes fragile Freya, and help her in anyway, warmed my heart.
All their kindness are a real help for Freya, to overcome all her pain and hurt. They don’t judge her perhaps rash decisions, but stand by her side every step of the way. And even if not knowing all the details they are absolutely in her corner.
What a wonderful place, makes me wish to book my own stay there!

While Freya is going through a very difficult time, the warmth and the love turns this book into a marvellous story.
The author shows her readers that family isn’t only about sharing the same DNA, as Freya absolutely adored her father and vice versa. But also how at ease Freya feels with people she just met. Sometimes you don’t need to know people for a long time to feel a strong connection with. And the revelation of who Freya’s biological father is, shows us again that that kind of connection tells us more than DNA.

I also loved how the author shows us that the people that truly love us, unconditionally, are able to see the pain we are feeling. And that love will survive everything, and that those who matter, can forgive us for decisions made in the wrong state of mind.

I had very high expectations for this story, and I can say without an inch of a doubt that the author fulfilled each expectation, even surpassed them and made me fall in love with amazing characters in a magnificent setting. And I have the certainty that this series will turn out to be a spectacular one, filled with laughs, joy, hope and love!

I have been a fan of Jo's work for a while now. By no means have I read everything that she has written but that is something that I hope to rectify in the not too distant future. I absolutely loved the first book in the 'Seabreeze Farm' series called 'Welcome To Seabreeze Farm', which was released earlier this year. When I heard that Jo was due to release the second book in the series, I knew that I had to get a copy and read it at the earliest opportunity. Well ladies and gents, the wait is over because 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' was released on 2nd December 2022. It's another cracker of a read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' but more about that in a bit.

As soon as I started reading, I knew that I was in for a treat and that I would find it rather difficult to put the book to one side for any length of time. I was spot on in both predictions. I think part of the appeal of the story was the fact that Freya was looking for certain family members that she previously hadn't known anything about. I am currently researching my family tree and have discovered relatives that I didn't know I had so I could appreciate some of the mixed feelings that she found herself having. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. It was as if the book had developed a hold over me and it was a hold that I wasn't willing to break. I became desperate to know how the story panned out and if the female lead characters got the 'happy ever after' endings that both so deserved. All too quickly I reached the end of 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' and I had to say goodbye to Freya and the rest of the characters. I found 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' to be a gripping and emotional read which certainly kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.

'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Jo Bartlett. Jo has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Jo's books feels more like a chat between friend rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Jo certainly knows how to grab the reader's attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story. I always find that the sign of a good book is when I become far too involved in the story to the extent where I talk to the characters can hear me. That's exactly what happened with 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm'. This book took me on an emotional journey with lots of ups and downs, twists and turns. I love the way in which Jo makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Finding Family At Seabreeze Farm' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Jo's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm is the second book in the Seabreeze Farm series by bestselling author Jo Bartlett. This book can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the first book to get to know some of the characters who reappear in the second book.

Freya Halliwell is excited to marry Ollie and move to London to start their new lives. Freya’s aunt and Ollie are all the family she has left after the death of her parents.

Freya discovers a shocking secret when she stumbles across a journal belonging to her mother when packing up her flat. Everything she thought she knew about her family especially her dad leaves Freya confused and devastated.

Freya needs time to come to terms with the news and calls off her wedding and escapes to Seabreeze Farm.

Can the residents of Seabreeze Farm , the community, friendship, and love help Freya accept that family comes in many ways.

Jo Bartlett writes such lovely warm stories set in stunning locations. I highly recommend this series or any series by the author.

A special thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC I received in exchange for my honest opinion.

Finding Family at Seabreeze Farm by Jo Bartlett
(This book was previously published as Finding Dad.)
Freya Halliwell is looking forward to marrying the man of her dreams and starting their new life together. After the death of both of her parents, Ollie, along with Freya's aunt, are the only family she has, but all the family she needs.
Until Freya discovers a shocking secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her once-happy family, especially the man she used to call dad. Devastated and feeling more alone than ever, Freya needs time and space to come to terms with the news. But until then the wedding is off!
Seabreeze Farm is the perfect place for Freya to recover. But could this beautiful farm perched high on the cliffs also hold the answer to Freya's past and reunite her with the family she never even knew she'd wished for?
If you enjoyed Jo's previous series, The Cornish Midwife, then I am sure you will relish this story.
Book 1, Welcome to Seabreeze Farm, was a joy to read and happily, I was lucky enough to receive the second in the series to review.
This second book of the Sea Breeze Farm series could be read as a standalone, but I suggest you read book one to get the most out of this fabulous series.
A story of love, loss, truth and secrets and how the past can determine future outcomes. Heartwarming characters, community spirit, and a sprinkle of Christmas magnetism.
I want to thank publishers Boldwood Books, author Jo Bartlett and Rachels Random Resources for a copy to read and review.

This is another book in the Seabreeze Farm series and the whole series is so charming.
You really get drawn into Kelsea Bay and the characters are so realistic .
A total misunderstanding stops a wedding days before it's to happen.
When shocking secrets are revealed our main character feels like she no longer knows herself or the man she called dad.
Dealing with such news will not be easy but Seabreeze Farm is the perfect place to get away from it all and forget. The setting is beautiful, the rugged coast, the gulls and the farm animals provide just the tonic she needs. A second chance at love. found family and complete holiday warmth.
Warm and fulfilling story.
Looking forward to more by the author.

A cute and cosy book ready for the festive season.

Lovely characters that all gelled nicely together, some really excellent writing. a tiny bit predictable in places but it's Christmas, we can look over things like that because that's mostly what happens isn't it!

There were some really realistic character creations going on, the farm family was actually just lovely and real, it felt like they were real people and that warmth and realism is followed throughout the book as the characters have their own challenges they need to overcome, I really like that, no stiff characters!

This is definitely one to get you in the holiday spirit, I really enjoyed it!

Thank you to Netgalley for letting me read this free ARC in return for an honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The second book in the series introduces new characters as well as extending the stories of those we've already met in this lovely (imaginary) setting. The atmosphere of the sea and beach, village and farm is woven throughout the stories linked in the novel. It is set close to Christmas and the book includes plenty of references to decorations and Santa after the mention of the 'Undercover Santa' in the beginning, a lovely start.
This author is expert at writing about family, relationships and love and this gentle tale is another engaging read.

A wonderful heartwarming festive read.

Freya is ready to marry boyfriend Ollie in a winter wedding on Seabreeze Farm. When a shocking revelation about her family leaves her reeling, she decides to call off the wedding and escape to Seabreeze Farm to work out her feelings. Can the family living on the farm help Freya to find the answers she desperately needs?

This is the second book in the Seabreeze Farm series, but it works well as a standalone - I haven't read the first but will definitely be looking for it now! A wonderful set of characters, including a fabulous little dog, Ginger, who deserve many books to come.
