There is a lot of basic information provides on a wide variety of topics in this outstanding book that was produced by DK.

The topics provided fall under six categories: You, Home, City & Industry (the largest category), Living World, Our Planet, and Space.

At the end is an Index and list of Acknowledgments.

For each item, there is a 2-4 page spread (most are 2 pages), with the topic is listed in BOLD black print. There is a small paragraph of information that tells you about the topic; sometimes defines it, and then the rest of the space is taken up with illustrations and / or photographs that are captioned to showcase a specific area / part of the graphic.

Although this book was produced by DK's Children's division, there are a lot of topics that adults would also find of interest - maybe more so than the kids. These include (but are not limited to): Road System, Hydroelectric Power Station, Yacht, Drone, Food Web, River Basin, Caves, Big Bang Theory, Reentry Vehicle, The Carbon Cycle, etc.

Excellent!

“How does it work?” is DK's encyclopedia on the subject.

The themes are wide-ranging, and it explains various topics such as the structure of the human body, digital homes, industry, skyscrapers, electric vehicles, GPS, the Internet, cruise ships, and more.

Some DK series books are complicated to understand, but the illustrations in this book are very easy to understand, so it is well worth purchasing.
