Callum Thomeson Former Carlisle police officer turned U.S. Marshal, returned home to Carlisle with more baggage than he left with. His last assignment, protecting a witness from the crime lord, Kassian Grado, cost him his entire team and if fate hadn’t intervened, he’d be dead too. Two years later, Grado escapes prison with one goal in kill the one who put him behind bars. With multiple attempts on Callum’s life, The Watchful Eye team comes back together. This time to circle their proverbial wagons to protect their leader. This ushers in surprise unexpected allies with their own agenda in the fight to bring Grado to justice and adds more dark secrets surrounding Callum and his brothers.
Carmichael “Myke” Johnson The last thing the beautiful, highly opinionated gun-for-hire assassin wanted was to babysit ‘Pretty-Boy’. She had her own phantoms trying to disrupt her peace, so the very person that just seemed to rub her the wrong way whenever he came near was trouble, until she got to know him. Now Myke will do whatever it takes to protect Callum, even from himself. When Callum’s life is put in jeopardy, Grado picked the wrong family to threaten. Nothing will stop Myke, nor the team, from doing what is necessary to get him back safe and unharmed, destroying everything in their path and Grado, once and for all.
Let me start off by saying I enjoyed the first book in this series. Sabrina and Dorian was a cute couple and the plot was full of action along with twists. I also enjoyed that Sabrina was no shrinking violet. The author jumps ahead two years later, Sabrina and Dorian are happily married and he’s now opened a private security firm with his best friend Callum along with Callum’s brothers Trace and Devin. Everything is going smoothly until Callum’s life is threatened by the mob boss he put away when he was a US Marshall. Everyone (and I mean everyone) rally’s together to protect Callum and catch the mob boss.
The base plot of the story is good the mob boss is ruthless and Callum doesn’t know who he can trust. The heart of the story is full of suspense and mystery that keeps you turning the pages. Then there’s the enemy to lovers plot taking place between Callum and Carmichael aka Myke. The development of their relationship is heartwarming and feels natural. They respect each other, have open communication and there’s no unnecessary drama. If the author would have focused on the two main characters and plot this would have been a five star read for me.
The problem with this second book is that there’s way too many characters and side plots. There’s not even a recap to introduce you to all these people and there’s no POV chapters so each paragraph can jump from a different characters POV. That could work fine if it wasn’t so many of them. The further you get into the book it feels like the book turns into a whole other story. By the end of the book there’s additional characters introduced more set ups for additional stories. Which is crazy to me since the main plot wasn’t even resolved yet.
This story was more of a 3 1/2 to 4 star read for me. I’m not a big fan of multiple plots and 10+ main characters. I’m hopeful that the author refocuses on Myke and Callum for book 2.
A mob boss Callum helped put away has escaped prison is out for revenge. The team must band together to keep everyone safe.
It’s been awhile since I read the first book “Dorian”, I remember liking that story but not being super excited to read Cal’s story but I figure I’d give it a try.
There was a lot of good in this, namely Cal and Myke. Even the whole plot with Grado was interesting, he just keeps coming.
There’s a lot going on here. The supporting cast keeps getting bigger and bigger. There’s so many people it’s hard to keep up with them all. Everyone has a guy or a team they can reach out to. Then close to the end we learn about Zara’s issue and now that’s a thing even though we haven’t really dealt with Grado yet. I forgot details from the first, like the insinuation about Grant and Zara. I skimmed that because I’m not into big are gap romances.
I’m going to read the next book because I want to know how they wrap up the Grado stuff but this definitely is starting to be a lot. 3.5 stars.
I’ve been waiting on this book about Callum and it did not disappoint. There is a lot that happens in the book with a lot of new people making an appearance which adds more to the complexity of the series😊.
Grado's prison break results in the needless death of people that Callum was close to😢 and sets in motion an unveiling of information clouded in mystery as he lays low planning an attack. Callum and Myke didn’t like each other but it was inevitable they’d catch feelings being in close proximity and seeing each other in a different light😍🥰😍. Callum had a lot on his plate and Myke was exactly the right person to keep him level headed. She was a strong, smart and confident often in her masculine energy but when alone with Callum, an equally strong and confident man Myke knew she was safe and could let her guard down and be in her feminine energy to be cared for by Callum😘. Their connection and chemistry was extremely hot🥵🔥🥵. It was funny how folks throughout the book could see they had an attraction to each other and tried to keep it hidden🤣. There are several side stories that spring up like giving a glimpse of what future books coming up and I love it.
This book has 2 parts and ends in a cliffhanger but the second book is already out so no need to wait on what happens👍🏽
Callum carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. The oldest of his siblings, the leader of the crew, the protector, the glue. He was all this things. Observant, contemplative, slow to anger but when unleashed his wrath is deadly and all consuming. A man like this needs a woman to be his peace. Well Myke definitely didn’t start out that way. She was an irritant, annoying, aggravating woman who spoke her mind and didn’t back down from no one not even him. She was beautiful, brash, honest and didn’t care if you’d take her or leave her she was who she was. They buttes heads, but when she had to be his protector she also became his peace. Great read!
From my perspective, there are plenty of good moments in the second installment of 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑊𝑎𝑡𝑐ℎ𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝐸𝑦𝑒 series. Co-owner and former U.S. Marshall Callum Thomeson’s past is coming back with a vengeance. The whole team and friends are called in. Callum loses someone he cares about and gains a babysitter, Myke. A lot is going on in this story, I see several webs forming. I found part one of Callum's story to be solid and plan to continue to part two.
CALLUM by Phoenix Rizen is amazing !! The gangs all here with new characters are heroes, sheroes, villains and crazies. Through it all, explosions, shootouts, car chases and more threats , CALLUM and MYKE find love and peace in each other. I love it!! on to Part 2 of CALLUM.💕
This has been one of the best series I was referred to...the hook ups are surprising...the skill set..the backgrounds...the friends of friends...the money...Zara is the most infuriating...but I push on...#next
Plenty of action and good guys versus the bad boys! Everything about this book is grear! plum and Carmichael fits, They should plenty of love and hot nights together! This book places the right people together! Strong women and hot men!
I’ve finished Callum’s story book1 and I must say there was a lot happening in this book… in the way of keeping up with all the different characters. Then I realized what you were doing. I can’t wait to see how the end turns out.
Loved the romance between Callum and Myke! These two are a perfect match, and they complement each other perfectly. I also love that every supporting character in the book has his/her strength. I can't wait to read part 3.
This book may have been to long and there is a lot more going on with everyone, there is a mad man killing innocent people but Callum and his entire family, friends and his teammates have a way to go.🤔
Just reading this storyline has me stressed about all negative situations going on. The demands is happening along with the drama and a boat load of unresolved events have not been resolved. Got to move on to Part 2.
Talk about action packed!!! This had so much a tion going on it had my head longing like a ping pong ball, but I loved every bit of it. Now its on to book two!!!
