For years, the notorious necromancer, Hederus Radicon, along with his second-in-command, Ovan Tashinji, had waged war against mankind; from raising an undead army to the slaughtering of thousands, Hederus ruled the medieval era with an iron fist. His plan was to eradicate all of humanity and purify the world. Hederus became a slave to his evils and was imprisoned in a parallel dimension by a lone knight, and from his confinement, the necromancer receives a new lease on life through chasing a childhood becoming a world-renowned culinary chef. Once let loose in the modern world, Hederus and Ovan find themselves in the city of New Orleans with progress on mind. Through his adventures of meeting new allies, Hederus soon realizes that everything is not as it seems within the concrete jungle, and he stumbles onto Morini Valentine’s murder scene. Resurrected, Hederus aids the amnesiac girl on her quest for vengeance, and the trio investigate the secrets of Kobus Lugime, the notorious chef of the city. As the necromancer is being chased by mercenaries and old enemies, will Hederus reform as a famous chef, or will he fall back into his old and cruel ways to fight for his survival?
Don’t let the book size scare you. I was intimidated by this beast at first, but as I read, it grew on me. Grew on me to a point I almost cried. I recommend this to anyone who loves cooking, modern fantasy, and some humor.
