Lisée is so excited because her fairy friends from Blossom Grove are coming to dance with her in The Nutcracker ballet!
The hollow in the oak tree is always set up like a magnificent stage, and today it is all set up for their performance. She is so happy that Flicker, Berry, Glimmer, Evie, and Daisy are going to dance with her and that they will get to dress up as the different characters and use different props to dance out the various scenes of the ballet. As the enchanting Tchaikovsky music begins to play, they are no longer in Blossom Grove; they are in The Nutcracker!
Lisée At The Ballet: The Nutcracker introduces the story of Clara beginning with a magnificent party in a ballroom where she meets the Nutcracker Prince, and then onward to a battle between the little mice and soldiers. Next, she travels on a beautiful sleigh ride through a snowy pine forest, and finally meets the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Kingdom of the Sweets.
Join Lisée and the Fairies of Blossom Grove and dance out one character or all of them as you learn the story of one of the most loved ballets around!
This book is ideal for children between the ages of 3 and 6.
Isabelle Parenti has spent her life working with children and teaching ballet to young children. She is the director of Ballet Petite, a ballet school founded in 1992 by Nancy Parenti, and is the premiere dance education program exclusively for young children. The curriculum incorporates dance choreography, children’s literature, music compositions, and beautiful costumes and props.
Isabelle Parenti hopes that, just like her wonderful ballet classes, her children’s books will offer an outlet for imagination and creativity where ballerinas can be encouraged to dance more frequently at home. She also wants to offer an avenue for those that don’t have the opportunity to come to her classes to express their creativity in a new way at home. Each book has suggested props that can be either found or made at home for children to dance and act out her stories with.
Lisée At The Ballet: The Nutcracker is the first book in a series in which Isabelle Parenti introduces all the Fairies of Blossom Grove. Be on the lookout for which book will be coming next!
Music lovers know that THE NUTCRACKER is one of the most famous ballets of all time and the author of the book exposes fully her passion for the play that has been celebrated for many decades - especially around Christmas. The story can familiarize young readers with an enchanted world and colourful characters and can fuel children's passion for dance. No doubt, THE NUTCRACKER is the epitome of magic and beauty the illustrations almost rise to the occasion. The narrative is a bit flat although it centers on a little girl's Christmas Eve and her awakening to a magic world. I received a free copy of the book from the author.
This is a lovely book with very beautiful illustrations. I love the way the author relates the Nutcracker story here. It's a very new and captivating way to tell a very well known story.
After reading this one, I am very curious to read all the books in the serie. The illustrations are beautiful and the style works great with the story. You will find a wide range of beautiful drawings, very well executed.
The only thing I would change in this book, are the pages that use a white background. I felt like they take away from the magical mood of the book.
What a sweet story where little girls get to be a part of The Nutcracker. This is full of fairy dust, crowns, Christmas trees, delicious foods, and beautiful dancers. We get to see brave girls in different roles as they dance and glimmer in magical enchantment. Many different chocolates, coffees, candy canes and bon bons. Oh how much fun Clara had on her adventure with her friends. The characters are beautiful, whimsical and sweet.
This book is so awesome! I love the Nutcracker and I like that the author tells the Nutcracker story with the use of unique fairy characters. I also like that the end of the book explains the personalities of each fairies. It makes it exciting to continue on with the series. The illustrations were super cute and the book was well written. This is a great Christmas book!
I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book for free from the author!
I'm impressed with this book! The illustrations have a delightful charm, resembling Mary Engelbreit's style with a touch of whimsy but without a ton of detailed backgrounds. Although I wished for a boy fairy, the book overall is a great introduction to The Nutcracker for young children.
This book simplifies the Nutcracker tale, making it accessible for little ones. It provides a solid foundation for children to discover and explore this timeless holiday tradition.
I love that this book is much more than a story about the Nutcracker!! It’s about fairy friends coming together to put on an imaginative performance together. The book recognizes the individual fairies and their passion (Lisee’s passion is dance)! I love that the author encourages the readers to join in, find props in their home, and put on their own performance! What a fun series this will be!
Six little fairies perform the ballet of the Nutcracker Suite. The illustrations are lovely and the story of the Nutcracker is well done. A great book for kids in preschool. *I received a free copy of the book from the author
The story was cute and there were nice illustrations. While the text was a bit too small, I thought overall the book was well suited for young children. I received a copy of the book from the author for free.
This is a good book for all ballet lovers. The author tells the Nutcracker story in a unique way that kids will love to read over and over again. The story is well-written and the drawings are lovely. I recommend.
I received a copy of the book from the author for free.
Its all about Fairies. Delightful illustrations. A truly Whimsical Magical story about some young friends who turn into the fairies of Blossom Grove. Will Clara save the Nutcracker prince ? and get to go to the Kingdom of sweets?. I received a free copy of this book from the author.
Cute story about fairies performing The Nutcracker. Illustrations are very well done and I think any young child would enjoy this story. For the author-I think a larger font might be helpful for young readers.
My six year old daughter, Rory, says, “I like this book because I like the fairies and the nutcracker. The end.”
I think kids who like ballet, fairies, the nutcracker, and things of the sort will love the pictures. I think the text to picture ratio requires some level of attentiveness from the child, but my daughter really enjoyed it and was asking engaged questions along the way. I’d say if your daughter is attracted to the cover, they’ll enjoy this and ask you to read it every night.
I was graciously gifted a digital copy so perhaps this isn’t true, but the small font, the words sometimes overlapping the pictures, and the words sometimes bleeding into the background color makes me believe the physical copy could be hard to read in a dim bedtime setting.
