"It seemed like all I did lately was make poor decisions. Even my decision to marry Spencer instead of telling my parents the truth about the real reason behind the marriage was a mistake. I should have never listened to my college professor, who convinced me to take Alistair Nolan's offer and marry his son Spencer in exchange for saving my parents' restaurant."
Lainey thought she had done everything right until now. Her life had turned inside out and upside down because of her choice to save the two people who mattered to her the most. Having control over her future was no longer her own, and even though she would never regret helping her parents keep their restaurant, she regretted listening to her college professor. Keeping her promise to marry Spencer Nolan, Lanie loses more than her freedom; she leaves behind a future with the one man who could make her happy.

My love for writing began several years ago after an early retirement from a demanding job that I loved and hated because it consumed so much of my time. Now, I can focus my time on what I love. Writing romance has been a lifelong dream and to actually say that I am a published author is beyond what I would have ever expected.
Even though some may say I have a little naughtiness in my books, I look at it as an added bonus for my readers. After all, what is a romance book without a little spice?
When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with friends either at home or out on the town. Mostly, I enjoy a relaxing night at home where I can enjoy a glass of wine in the company of a good book.
Out of everything, she enjoys driving in her little convertible with the top down.

Until now, Lainey believed that she had done everything right. But, because of her choice to save the two people that mattered the most to her, her life had been ripped apart. A.L. Long who is an Award-winning author has created a new romantic-suspense series-Colors of Sin. Silver Lining is the prequel to the first full-length novel Red Heaven.
Silver Lining is the prequel to the series Colors of Sin by A.L. Long. This is the first book by A.L. Long that I have read and I have to say that I wish I had picked up something by her a long time ago. I greatly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Lainey who as a young adult made nothing but poor decisions, she is now a woman. She knows that when you are young you don't think about how the poor decisions you make when you're young will affect you as an adult. You just want to try and fix things eventually without really considering all the consequences.
Lainey does have his one tall dark and handsome man in her life in Rohan. He'll save her from all her missteps she makes and in doing so, he ends up falling hard for her.
Honestly, they are both hiding secrets of their own.
In this short prequel novella, we get an introduction to the characters and the story that is going to continue in Red Haven. Most of the story gets held back as we learn more about Lainey and Rohan.
I honestly fell in love with Rohan. I could see that all he wanted was to save Lainey. You could tell how much he trusted her and when asked he gave her all the time and space she needed so she could figure things out for herself. And Lainey does need time to figure out how and how much she could share with Rohan.
"Anything for a beautiful woman."
"His smile was breathtaking and dangerous at the same time."
I recommend this book, the storyline, the plot, the subplot, you can see everything falling into place and you can see what this book is setting up for Red Heaven. It is well done.
Lainey is a woman who as a young adult, made a poor decision. When you are young and inexperienced you don't think too far in advance. You want to just fix things and not consider the consequences.
Rohan is Lainey's tall dark and handsome. He saves her from an auto mishap and he falls hard.
There are a few secrets they both may be hiding.
This short prequel introduces the reader to these characters and the story that will continue in Red Heaven. A lot of the story is held back as we learn more about Lainey and Rohan.
I really liked Rohan and how he just wanted to save Lainey. He trusted her and gave her time and space to figure things out. Lainey needs time to figure how and how much to share with Rohan.
"Anything for a beautiful woman."
"His smile was breathtaking and dangerous at the same time."
Looking forward to Red Heaven the next book in the series.
Silver Lining by A.L. Long is the short, tantalizing story of Rohan and Lainey. Lainey made an agreement years ago, in an effort to help her parents. Now, she’s a journalist heading out for a story….but, the storm has other ideas…Luckily, Rohan, a ranch owner, comes upon her car during the storm and helps her. They hit it off….but, then….there’s her agreement….
Now, the agreement has been called…and she doesn’t know how to deal with it….how can she move forward….how can she complete the agreement….Excellent short story!!!! Ends in a major cliffhanger!!!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Silver Lining is the prequel to the Colors of Sin Series which introduces the story of Lainey Park, a journalist who is one month away from a marriage of convenience In order to save the restaurant owned by her parents, Spencer Nolan, her unfaithful fiancé, and Rohan Dodd, a rancher and businessman who rescues Lainey and takes her to his ranch after she is involved in a car accident. Both men want Lainey for different reasons. This well written prequel has great characters, secrets, and an intriguing plot. The first book in the series is Red Heaven.

The Rohan-Lainey romance tease is enticing although I didn’t like the prequel SILVER LINING itself all that much.
It does what it is supposed to do which is set the stage for the full length novel about Rohan and Lainey. Instead of feeling like an introduction, however, I felt like I was being dropped in the middle of something.
I’m intrigued enough to be watching for RED HEAVEN’s release.
I received an advance e copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This definitely caught my interest! It was a quick intro to those characters. I have lots of questions about the characters. As this was a short prequel the characters weren't as developed as they could be. However, with saying that it was enough to form connections - good or bad, with the main characters. I'm looking forward to checking out the first book in this series.
What a great introduction to Rohan Dodd and Lainey Parks. These two have instant chemistry but both characters have their own reasons for not sharing who they are with the other. Just enough to introduce the characters, get a little back story and get me hooked for more. Enjoy!.

Silver Lining is the prequel to the Colors of Sin series. This is a well written, short story with characters that are interesting and a storyline that intrigued me. Although this is a quick read I loved it and I can't wait to read the rest of Rohan and Lainey's journey of love. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
A story that I found fascinating to read. As the details emerged, I was riveted by the emotional impact of her situation. I loved how the author made me feel as I read this book. I was engaged and entertained by this prequel. I can’t wait to read more.

An interesting preview of the story of Lainey and Rohan. Lainey is engaged to another man, but their relationship is not one of real love. Lainey is in a car accident and Rohan helps her and takes her to his ranch. This love at first sight will be jeopardized by Lainey's past and duties. We'll know how it goes until the rest of the story is released. Can’t wait!
Rohan and Lainey have great chemistry and I enjoyed their story. It’s a prequel to the Colors of Sin series and it’s a very entertaining read. It’s short, well written and romantic. Can’t wait to read more. *this was a complimentary copy via BookSirens and this is my honest review*
Interesting prequel to new series. Drama, angst, arranged marriage and beginning of romance. This one is on hot side, something is definitely brewing there. Hope first book will come sooner than later.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the prequel to a new series and features Lainey and Rohan. They have a strong connection and it’s a good storyline. I look forward to reading more. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I found the book sweet but I couldn’t get past how they moved so fast in this relationship. Almost seemed creepy at times. Haven’t yet read any other books by this author, so hoping the next one I try will be more to my liking.
This book reminded me a little of Yellowstone, without the edge. The kissing began a little too soon for me. What young woman would let a strange man, albeit handsome, kiss her? And the fact that Lainey has just gotten out of a ridiculously failed relationship? I couldn’t suspend my disbelief. I’m a fan of a more drawn-out story, so this wasn’t really for me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
