The day I met Kyle and Hunter, my life changed. Music united us. Bound us together. We shared a dream...to become rockstars. But we came from a poor part of town. The people who should love us, don't. Sometimes, life took violent turns. The only thing I had were these two guys. Nothing could break us. Nothing. How far was I willing to go to make our dream come true? Would it be worth leaving everything behind? From the moment we played our first song together, Nothing could've prepared me for the path that lay ahead.
This is the prequel to the Everhide Rockstar Romance Series. This is a PRE-ROMANCE that leads into the relationships that develop throughout the series.
NOTE: This book contains sensitive content around loss and domestic violence.
Tania Joyce is an author of rockstar, contemporary and new adult romance novels. Her stories thread romance, drama and passion into beautiful locations ranging from the dazzling lights and glitter of New York, to the rural countryside of the Hunter Valley.
She’s widely travelled, has a diverse background in the corporate world and has a love for shopping, shoes and Shiraz.
Tania draws on all her real-life experiences and combines them with her very vivid dreams to form the foundation of her novels. She likes to write about strong-minded, career-oriented heroes and heroines that go through drama-filled hell, have steamy encounters and risk everything as they endeavor to find their happy-ever-after.
Music is everyting to Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter. How cool is it that Tania Joyce wrote this prequel about Everhide from Gemma's POV of how things came to be. And what a beginning it was - from HS, forming the band, dealing with horrible families, deaths, and waiting a long time for their big break. Lots of firsts for these 3 musicians. I loved Tania Joyce's song lyrics that were sprinkled throughout the book. It added so much emotion to the story of Gemma, Hunter and Kyle. Together. Forever. What a great intro to Tania's well-written, hot Everhide series. I felt like I was going home again reading about these 3 rock stars and their angsty, incredible journey. A priviledge to receive an ARC copy.
Rocked – The Price Of Drams Everhide Series Tania Joyce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Welcome back to very beginning of the crazy lives of Gemma Lonsdale, Kyle McIntyre and Hunter Collins, otherwise known as Everhide. I’ve read all of the everhide books and I adored them, but I think this one meant so much more… their young lives full of torment and destruction, yet our the other side is a fierce woman and her best wingmen.
I loved reading/ living there early school days…. It created the people they turned into, their first meetings made me giggle a little, but their lives all intertwined but separate created a bond that would never break.
I could literally sit hear I write I loved , I loved until there was nothing left, but if you haven’t jumped in the Everhide bandwagon, start here, live, laugh, love and definitely cry with Gem, Hunter and Kyle…. they’ll bury into your hearts like they did mine!
Thank you Tania for creating amazing words, beautiful deep characters with all their perfection and flaws, those song lyrics ( I’d love to see them created into real music, that would be epic),and making me want to read the whole series again! You’re amazing
Rocked—The Price of Dreams is the prequel to the Everhide series by Tania Joyce that gives readers a bird’s eye view to how Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter formed the formidable bonds that we all fell in love with in the other books!! I honestly couldn’t put my phone down today, as I was sucked into the emotional journey that laid the foundation for the Everhide series. It was all so real, raw, and authentic, with characters that could be people you know. Having already read the series, I feel like I have a much better understanding and appreciation for the evolution of Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter. I especially love how badass Gemma was in this book, Hunter’s banter and love for his sister, and Kyle’s all-around lovability. The funny thing is, I have so many books I planned to read this weekend, but now, all I want to do is binge read all the Everhide books again! I guess that’s the true mark of success for a prequel! This is definitely a can’t miss!
I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rocked the Price of Dreams-The Price of Dreams: Everhide Rockstar Romance Prequel (Everhide Rockstar Romance Series) by Tania Joyce gives the backstory of how the band “Everhide” came into existence. This full-length novel goes into depth about Kyle, Hunter, and Gemma’s homelife, how they met, and their high school years together. Rocked explains how their bond grows from friends to a solid unit of 3 soulmates. Their backgrounds expose the “whys” for each of their stances on love and having children. The story is told from Gemma’s POV, but no one doubts the boy’s POV in the telling. There is heartbreak, struggles to go through, and finding joy as they experience one success after another as a band. The groundwork is laid down for the first book, Ripped-The Price of Loyalty, where a romance between the band members is explored before their HEA is found. Once more Tania Joyce writes a rockstar romance that is a breathtaking story to be read and re-read on a loop. I would give 100 stars to any book Tania Joyce writes.
Gem, Kyle and Hunter started out as just kids in school. They met one day when Hunter & Kyle were being robbed of their lunch by a bunch of jocks. Gemma kicked their butt and rescued them, after that they were inseparable. They lived and breathed music, Kyle played so many instruments Gemma couldn’t help being impressed. Hunter was also a gifted musician and had a wonderful voice. The three were perfect together, they flourished as musician and became a band. They had a very sad upbringing, Kyle’s dad was an abusive alcoholic, Hunter’s parents ignored him and Gemma’s mother hated her. This story is steamy but sweet too because they were just kids. I loved that they shared everything, including how their first sexual encounter went. Kyle couldn’t wait to phone Hunter and Gemma and tell them. I loved reading how they got to the top, just three high school kids, their love of music and a lot of determination. I’m giving this book five stars and highly recommend it.
SHORT REVIEW: I thought this was a great insight to what's to come in the Everhide Rockstar Romance series. I really liked seeing how Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter met in high school. This novel has me wanting to immediately jump into the series! I'll definitely be doing that soon!!
I was gifted an ARC of this book and can't tell you how glad I am!
I loved the whole Everhide series, I love the dynamic between Gemma, Kyle and Hunter and the chance to see how that bond began and grew to be unbreakable was gripping. I honestly couldn't put the book down and was bleary eyed in work a couple of mornings LOL
To get that glimpse into how they met...the teenage, skinny, nerdy Kyle and Hunter and how badass Gemma was in protecting them was a bit of a reversal of roles which I cheered. It let us see the challenges they each had with their respective families and why they gravitated towards each other.
Tania did it again with her writing, the strong character and story development hit this one out the park.
This is the prequel to the Everhide series and gives insight to the three characters, Gemma, Kyle and Hunter.
The introduction of Gemma to the boys is great and the three become best friends.
Learning the background of these characters and where they come from is heart wrenching and emotional. I couldn’t stop reading once I started and now I can’t wait until I get the series starting with book 1.
A must read for rockstar (and upcoming rockstars) romance lovers.
Love the writing style and am looking forward to the series.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK. IT EXPLAINS THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY, AS IT'S A PREQUEL TO THE EVERHIDE SERIES. GEMMA, KYLE AND HUNTER ARE THREE FRIENDS HELPING EACH OTHER SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL AND THEIR FAMILY LIVES. MUSIC IS THEIR WAY OUT OF THEIR SMALL TOWN. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE SERIES YET, YOU'LL WANT TO ONCE YOU FINISH "ROCKED".
I loved Everhide's origin story! This is a beautifully written story about how Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter met and formed the band despite all the difficulties of their home lives. It's full of emotion and tugs at your heartstrings. Another page-turning read from a great author!
(Thank you to the author for providing an advance review copy of this book).
Once upon a time, there were 3 rock stars in the making...
Tania does what she always does and brings the characters to life. She allows us to go back to the beginning and see how the friendships were made and how they evolved. She shows the passions they had even then for music, each other, and all the angst that being a teenager brings. This really builds the foundation for how they become a family of the heart.
If you are an Everhide fan then this is a MUST-read! Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
I chose to read and review this book. I enjoyed reading this one. I liked seeing how everything started between the main characters of this series. It is a sweet one full of care, love, friendship and protectiveness. I recommend it
Normally prequels don't hold a lot of interest for me as I've come to create a pretty solid picture in my head and more often than not I've been slightly if not completely disappointed and wished they would have left it to my imagination. This is not he case here. I can say I appreciated the background story and beginning of this solid trio that makes things crystal clear of why their bond is so deep. From their first meeting you can tell all three are in it for the long haul. Music does play a huge part in their lives but now we see even more of how they became who they are beyond that. Tania has a way to help us stay loyal to her characters as they work their way into our hearts as we see them struggling as teenagers. Maybe it helps knowing that things will turn out okay having already read their futures in the series but this is definitely one prequel that made an impression on me. I received an advanced copy of this book and happy to provide my honest opinion.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this book. Physical abuse, mental abuse, death and being "a problem" to your so called parent. I cannot imagine a life of being unloved by a mom and a father using both young and your mom as a punching bag. So much heartbreak and tons of ambition to succeed.
Three high school friends form a band. Years and years go by as they try their best to make it big. A contest is entered and the winner gets a recording contract. Problem is, there aren't enough votes for the band until a well known rocker steps in, but is it enough?
What a great insite to the earliest days of how Hunter, Kyle and Gemma become great rock stars. The growing of a never dying love and friendship that developed as a result of their love of music. Their lives entwined to lead them on a wonderful life changing journey into the music wold they all dreamed of.
For a trio of young teens, they sure had a rough time of it in high school; but when Gemma is the new student and enters Kyle and Hunter's space, she has an instant connection with both boys. Their dreams are the same, what they want out of life and their ambition is attainable. They are a talented group, and with Kyle's mom Claire, on their side, giving them pointers, how can they fail.
Takes some time, and they don't get gratification easily - hoops to jump through - life is hard on them all. But, they vow to never give up.
2nd time read and loving it let's go back to where it all really started 3 teenage kids in high school start making music and they become best friends.
Gemma,Hunter and Kyle follow them through their last few years of high school as they have a passion for music abd start a band.
See where Everhide was born and follow the 3 with passion for music, there family issues and there strong bond not only as band members, but friends/family for life.
Seriously excellent thank you Tania Joyce for taking me back there and telling me where it all truly started for Everhide.
I loved the Everhide series so being taken back to when Gemma, Hunter & Kyle first met in high school and traversing their ups and downs and their strong friendship to the beginnings of their fame opened up a new appreciation for these three.
I loved how seamlessly they all connected and how strong their bond became, it was this bond that allowed them to get through some really painful trials with their families. None of them had particularly happy homelives, though Kyle's was the one that brought me to tears and affected all three of them.
Tania Joyce has a way of writing real, raw and damaged but strong characters who pull at your heartstrings as you get to know them. Each one of her books in the Everhide series deals with some serious issues and Rocked: The Price of Dreams is no different. All three come from families struggling with their own problems; alcoholism, abuse, and neglect, all of these impact in big ways on Gemma, Kyle and Hunter and will leave scars on them that carry through the series.
I loved how they grew into strong young adults from the young insecure teens when the book first started. Music drew them together and gave them something to live for and they aimed big and despite everything made their dreams happen.
Gemma is in yet another school, thanks to her mother. Her attitude is go to school, keep her head down, avoid the local teens, play music and hurry up and graduate. Then she meets Kyle & Hunter, and they're are inseparable. They love music, share her dream to make it big...what more can a girl want?
Kyle & Hunter don't have an easy home life, Hunter seems to be invisible, and Kyle would love to be invisible, especially when it comes to his dad. They have a target on their backs when it comes to the jocks and the in-crowd...until Gem bounds into their lives.
Music is their lives, they are each other's rock...and believe me the need to be. Skip forward 6 years and everything has changed...but can their unbreakable BFF bond survive?
Rocked, takes you back to the beginnings of Everhide, with their teenage dreams and angst, center stage.
“I would never let him fall. No matter how broken he was, I’d always be there for him. No matter what.”
Told from Gem’s POV, the reader is drawn into all their firsts in their final years of high school. Her love for two boys, their highs and lows, and how they became a team.
Kyle, Hunter and Gem, formed a bond through their love of music, supported each other, creating stability and family.
Nicely written NA. Not overly $exualised or dramatic, their awkward fists and dreams, are age appropriate and a pleasant change. If you’ve already read the series, go back to where it all began.
Another new-to-me author, another great read! So many readers have given excellent reviews for this prequel book, and I totally agree with them. The book was beautifully written, with an interesting storyline and wonderful characters. I loved the interactions between Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter as they grew up and made their way as a popular rock group. There are 6 more books in this series, and I will be reading all of them. Thank you, Ms. Joyce, for giving us a great emotional story and the beginning of the Everhide Rockstar romance, I give it more than 5 stars!!!
Reading this prequel after reading several books in the series already, it was great seeing how Everhide got its start. The history between Gemma, Hunter, and Kyle truly bonds them, and out comes through so well in the story. Through all their ups and downs in high school, it was great to laugh, cry, and enjoy their experiences. I truly loved this book.
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This was the first "rockstar" book that I have read from this angle, how it all started. It was very interesting and informing. The relationship that these three, Gem, Kyle and Hunter, have formed was very very special. The struggles that they had with their families was super real to life, you could feel for them. Reading this prequel from Gemma's point of view proved to be very sobering. I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
