Crystal Langston's divorce from her abusive ex-husband, NFL player, Dante Green, didn't break her. And her twentieth college reunion was her opportunity to show the world her life was thriving outside of his shadow. But an encounter with Dante escalates quickly, leading to his murder—And Crystal is the number one suspect! Because of Dante, she loses everything again, but this time, she may not bounce back.
Marcel Singleton recently launched his political campaign for Houston's District Attorney. Now that his childhood friend, Crystal, is no longer tied to Dante, he attends their class reunion with one goal in to finally reveal the feelings he’s buried for so long. He didn't expect he'd be representing her in a murder case against her ex-husband.
If Crystal isn’t cleared of the murder charges, she’ll lose the career she’s built, her second chance at love, and tarnish her family’s name.
The Reunion is a second-chance, friends-to-lovers, inspirational romance. Book 1 in The Langston Sisters series.
I have been a fan of Natasha D. Frazier’s for awhile and was so excited when I saw that she was coming out with a new series and tackling a slightly different genre! I am a sucker for a good suspense with strong main characters and The Reunion did not disappoint.
Crystal is one strong heroine. Despite being abused by her ex-husband she does not let this fact deter her from attending her class reunion, a social gathering that she knows her ex will be attending, and instead chooses to rely on her inner strength to propel her actions, a fact that stays with her throughout the novel.
Marcel is one of Crystal’s longtime friends who has secretly had a crush on her for years. With his campaign for district attorney going strong it is giving him the confidence to reveal his true feelings to Crystal at the reunion. What neither of them realize is that Crystal’s ex will sabotage everything in ways that neither of them can imagine and embroil their lives and relationship.
This is a very fast paced, character driven novel that was the perfect quick read on a cold, winter night. I enjoyed the overall flow but I do wish it would’ve focused less on the amorous feelings between the two lead characters and more on the suspense. I found myself skimming a lot, especially when Marcel and Crystal were all up in their thoughts and feelings. The longer the novel went on the more bored I got with their relationship and found myself craving more action. I was also super disappointed with how blatantly obvious the perpetrators were. I instantly knew who it was, but I was hoping for a twist that never came, and that made me sad. Where is the mystery?
There is the topic of physical abuse at the hand of Crystal’s ex-husband, but it is not depicted in graphic detail and is handled in a respectful manner, which I was so thankful for. Being abused by my ex these topics tend to be quite triggering for me, but I did not feel this way at all. If anything knowing what Crystal endured and seeing how she came out of that horrible ordeal even stronger made me respect her character even more.
Overall I do wish there would’ve been less focus on the second chance romance and more on the suspense, but I do not regret reading in the least. The author did a great job of fleshing out the characters and I can’t wait to see where this new series takes us!
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
After spotlighting one of Natasha D. Frazier earlier books (With Every Step), I eagerly opened The Reunion to see what else this new to me author had in store.
From the first line: “Crystal Langston strolled into what had become her designated lane at Houston’s The Lone Range.”
As a Texan my attention was immediately caught and held just simply by mentioning Houston.
And it only continued to get better from there. Natasha D. Frazier, I found, has such a way of conveying the character’s surroundings that I was easily able to envision everything she described, without feeling overwhelmed by details.
The interactions between Marcel and Crystal were fast paced and fluttery. I liked them as characters even if it was hard to believe some of their actions occasionally (but this is fiction 😊).
We were hit with the mystery head on and wow what a good way to grab and hold a person’s attention Natasha D. Frazier! I just had to keep reading after that first chapter to see what was going to happen.
For fans of who-dun-it and suspense mystery this one should be on your reading list this year!
This book took me by surprise but in a good way. This is a romantic suspense about Crystal coming face to face with her ex-husband, Dante at their class reunion. It goes all wrong when Dante is killed. Of course Crystal is the prime suspect.
It causes her life to take a turn. She is the CEO of her family's business and is asked to step away since she is being accused of murder. Her family has her back as well as her friend, Marcel, who happens to be representing her in the case. I liked that there is a connection with Marcel, Crystal and that it didn't take over the story.
It had unsuspected twists and even though I figured out the culprit there was an additional reveal that shocked me. I will be continuing with this series.
This was such a riveting read.....I was just shaking like jelly fish at some point...Crystal and Marcel made such a beautiful pair. This was suspense, romance and faith based novel wrapped up in one sweet book, romantic suspense told in its purest form. Not a fan of suspense, but this kept me glued from start to finish, such a page turner. Weldone Natasha.👍
My second read by Natasha D. Frazier, I will be reading the rest of her catalog, as I wait for book 2 in the Langston Sisters series.
A year after her divorce from NFL football player Dante, Crystal decides to attend her college class reunion. Big mistake. Well written, easy flowing, story, with the correct amount of drama, and romance.
This was the first book I've read by this author and it won't be my last. I'm invested in the sisters lives after book one. I feel like it's more of a 3.5 rating than a straight 3 star.
I really liked Crystal. She's been through a LOT with an abusive ex-husband. Like many women, she wonders how she missed the signs or even married Dante in the first place. His narcissistic behavior shows itself at their 20 year reunion. I liked her determination not to be swayed from attending the reunion as well as being willing to face him if forced to. I also like that her sisters get into her business! These sisters have each others backs.
Her childhood friend, Marcel clearly carries a torch still for Crystal. Too bad he's reminded of this on the heels of starting his political campaign to be the new DA and Crystal's ex is killed. His loyalty to Crystal is very sweet and I really liked watching them work through their feelings as they try to unravel the mystery of who killed Dante.
I appreciated that Marcel prayed a couple of times in the story so I hope it continues through the next two stories! We need more stories like this with faith in them and with characters who are POC in white collar careers.
Overall I liked the story and writing. I didn't feel like there were a lot of options as to who might've killed Dante so I wasn't trying to figure out who the bad "guy" was. I like stories like this to have several options that keep me guessing and on my toes. This is going to be a weird "pull out" of the story, but Crystal's father refers to her as "my dear" a number of times and it just seemed odd to me. A couple of the descriptions of their kisses made me giggle because the wordings gave me a mental image that just seemed funny.
*I received this book for review. This is my personal opinion.
This book was a good read. The storyline drew me right in from the beginning and kept my attention until the very end. Even though the author said this is her first Romantic Suspense book to write, it was hard to tell for the excellent plot, well developed characters and the surprise ending. I just love a mystery and suspense storylines, especially trying to solve who is the perpetrators that committed the crimes. The cherry on top is that this is a second chance romance story too. Crystal and Marcel who were childhood friends and after going to the same college Marcel had feelings of more than friends with Crystal but was afraid to let Crystal know how he felt. Now that they are attending their 20th High School Reunion, perhaps they can reconnect since Crystal is now divorced from her abusive football player husband who she met in college and married. Before Crystal and Marcel can catch up with each other at the reunion, Crystal's ex-husband Dante is murdered and she is the one accused and arrested for his murder. Can Marcel who is a lawyer who is now campaigning for election for District Attorny help Crystal prove her innocence? Will this put a damper on his campaign for office? Will Crystal's family believe her innocence or take her being the CEO of the family's Handbag company away from her? You will have to read this book to find out the answers. I like how the author implemented a domestic abuse in the storyline, which was tastefully done not to cause triggers to someone reading this and also enlightening others who may or not know that any type of abuse is okay. I highly recommend this book to read and/or any other book this author has written. Looking forward to read the storylines of Crystal's other two sisters Layla and Ava.
Author Natasha D. Frazier makes a remarkable foray into romantic suspense with “The Reunion.” Fortunately for those already fans of her writing, she retains her second chance signature. Crystal Langston needs more than a second chance. She needs a miracle to prove she’s not a murderer after NFL darling Dante, her ex-husband, is shot and killed at their 20th college reunion. She hides the physical scars Dante inflicts upon her during their marriage. Her emotional disdain for him unravels at the reunion and witnesses record her threatening to kill him even though they never see the gun tucked away in her purse.
Crystal’s childhood friend, Marcel Singleton, prominent criminal defense attorney, is a candidate for district attorney. Marcel attends the reunion hoping to move out of the friend zone. Against the advice of her friend, Crystal agrees to talk to Dante privately. His possessiveness and her threats are on public display before he pulls her into a room. Minutes later Dante is dead. Hours later Crystal is in jail. Marcel’s determination to free her and fully exonerate her as a suspect comes with a hefty price. His grassroots campaign comes under scrutiny. They both have a lot to lose.
Frazier refuses to shy away from the headlines of domestic violence involving pro athletes. It’s handled quite adeptly as Marcel and Crystal join forces to prove her innocence. Crystal’s two Langston sisters fiercely support her. They like Marcel, but have a foreboding that he and their sister are withholding something more than an attraction. Their banter keeps the story moving as we wait to see if our own hunches are right in this charming whodunit.
I enjoyed this fast-paced novel. It was my first introduction to this author. It was full of suspense and great characters who drew me in and made me want to stay in the novel. Right now even more than normal I need a good suspense novel to keep my brain from thinking about life and to help me escape into my own world.
This book definitely had me escaping. And I often forgot where I was. That speaks to the power of this author! I loved the strong heroine.

I absolutely love Second Chance Romances, and although this was a thriller, as well, that second chance was there and taken!!
I was drawn into this story from the very beginning and was riveted to my seat until the last words”His heart and home were now full.” It took a lot to get there on both of their parts!
There was never a dull moment and there was plenty of suspense and wondering!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it!! I’m now ready for Ava’s story!! Kudos, Natasha!! 💜
Not sure what Crystal was trying to prove by being alone with her ex. He had already shown his hand, so armed or not, her best bet was to stay away. I loved how Marcel went all in with his efforts to clear her name; despite his romantic desires he truly wanted to help. It was no mystery that they would end up together. Neither was it a mystery as to who 'dun it'. I loved the sisters' bond and honesty with each other. This was an easy read with a nice pace. Looking forward to the other sisters' stories.
Although the story was only one hundred eighty pages, it seemed much longer. I liked the storyline; it took a while to get engrained into the account. Crystal did not have good instincts at all. And Marcel, who was running for the city's DA, put a lot on the line for Crystal. The plot wasn't strong enough to not see the villains in front of our faces. A pretty good story, nonetheless.
Crystal Langston has been divorced from her abusive husband, Dante Green. She was at their class reunion to show people that she was not down and out. Her oldest friend, Marvel Sjngleton, who she finally realized that she has feelings for. Of course nothing goes right when she sees her ex at the reunion. Nothing is right when Dante is murdered and Crystal is accused of murdering him.
This book is the first by this author I am reading. Generally a good book. It was interesting how the author hit the groud running from the first page.
The characters did the story great and an enjoyable plot. Lovers of fast paced Suspense books with engaging characters would love this one.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Really enjoyed this book. Each page had me on the edge of my seat, couldn't wait to see what was next. The characters were relatable and who hasn't fallen for the college jock, married him and he was abusive. I highly recommend that everyone should read The Reunion. Natasha really grabbed your attention from beginning to end.
This was really sweet feel good kinda story.with just enough mystery and suspense to keep you hooked on the story. The writer moves the story along at a pace that was easy to follow ANF gave you two main characters that were so likeable. Overall you can't go wrong of you choose to read this story.
I enjoyed reading this entertaining story that revolved around a second chance at romance. Marcel and Crystal were a great couple who both survived a devastating murder that could have ended their careers. The suspenseful part of the storyline was on point, but there were no surprises. I knew who "dun it" . Nevertheless, I recommend The Reunion for your reading pleasure. Good Story!
“The Reunion” the first book of the Langston Sisters series was a good read. …clearly malicious & vindictive reunion. …Curiously, I’m just surprised Dante hadn’t suspected potential nefarious activities within his inner circle. Thereafter, I’m looking forward to the rest of this story…explanations & a subsequent conviction by the new “DA” (hopefully).
This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed it. The balance between the suspense and the Romance was fine but if I’m being completely honest I didn’t really feel the connection between Crystal/Marcel….would’ve loved some more time with them getting reacquainted outside of the drama. I’ll definitely be checking out the second book in the series.
I enjoyed this book even though I figured out who done it very early. Crystal Langston divorced from her abusive husband Dante Green for a year attends her class reunion knowing he will be there. She is reunited with an old friend Marvel Singleton. Dante makes a startling announcement that does not sit well with Crystal or Dante's date. Read it to see what transpires.
New to me author. 3.5⭐️ lol nothing like reconnecting with an old friend in a more romantic way over the murder of your ex husband lol. This was a great balance of romance and suspense. I like this combination. Quick read got to the point and wasn’t drawn out unnecessarily. I enjoyed Crystal and Marcel’s character. Will be continuing the series and reading more from this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It's fast paced, suspenseful and tender all at the same time. This is my first novel from this author and I will definitely be reading more of her work. Can't wait to read the next book in this series and find out about Ava!!
I really enjoyed this book. The author has a way of drawing you in beginning with the first chapter. The suspense was great and kept you wanting to know more. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Another great story from this author. This book has the right amount of suspense and romance. I truly enjoyed it and I can't wait for the rest of the series. I'm really looking forward to it!
I enjoyed the ride with this story! A great evening read that gave me an escape from a stressful day. I enjoyed the fierce romantic tension amidst a good crime mystery. It was a great escape into their story and I'm looking forward to the next one in this series.
This was my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. I found this book to be just enough drama to keep you reading. I enjoyed it.
This shows you that no matter what you go through keep believing in love. Two people who had lost each other found out what ever you do keep believing in love❤
This was such an exciting book. It had me not wanting to put it down from the very first chapter. I love books that don’t lag around a long time before it gets to the excitement. And on every page I was like “WHAT! REALLY! WHO! OH MY GOSH! Awesome Book.
Can’t wait to start Book 2. This was such an exciting book. It had me not wanting to put it down from the very first chapter. I love books that don’t lag around a long time before it gets to the excitement. And on every page I was like “WHAT! REALLY! WHO! OH MY GOSH! Awesome Book.
