A luxurious European luxury hotel. A charismatic musical icon Can our psychic sleuth solve a murder mystery before disaster strikes again?
Manhattan-based lifestyle journalist Nina Brown and her fashionista French Bulldog Jasper jet first-class to Switzerland to cover the re-opening of a historic luxury resort.
Though she enjoys the free-flowing Champagne and attentions of a handsome local vigneron, Nina (and her jealous co-workers) can't understand why she, a relative rookie, receiived a personal invitation.
The reason becomes clear when the micro-managing general manager explains she's heard of Nina's previous success banishing ghosts. And that she's expected to solve the hotel's 'ghost problem' before the grand opening.
When the GM is murdered and the gorgeous vigneron is arrested, Nina’s natural sleuthing skills kick into action. Which of the quirky, disgruntled hotel employees could be the culprit?
Spooked in Switzerland is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud funny cozy mystery, packed with quirky characters, engaging ghosts, and the adorable fashionista French Bulldog, Jasper.
Cat Green writes fun paranormal cozy mysteries set in exotic locales. She's visited most of them in her "day job" as a travel writer. You can find her walking in Manhattan's Central Park, dictation device in hand when she's not on the road.
Nina, Holly, & fashionista pup Jasper are treated to first class luxury at the newly renovated Belle Epoque hotel. Nina has been invited to write a review for her magazine but is hoping to get an advertising contract from them. She soon finds she was requested under false pretenses as the general manager, Ursula Thomas had learned of her experiences with ghosts. Nina has several premonitions of Ursula being murdered but is unable to prevent it from happening. Plenty of people were angry with her, but just which one actually killed her? And will history repeat itself at the tribute concert in the refurbished theater?
A twisty paranormal mystery with plenty of scheming suspects to keep you guessing. Jasper’s antics relieve the tension. And young Oliver is particularly charming. Looking forward to Nina & Holly’s next adventure.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nina, Holly, and their fashionista French Bulldog Jasper are at a luxury hotel in Switzerland but this time Nina is not filling in for her boss. The hotel’s general manager personally requested Nina to review the historic luxury resort for Food! Travel! Wine! Magazine but also get rid of the resident ghost before it disrupts the grand reopening. In the meantime, Nina and her friends will enjoy the premium menu, the pampering, and the handsome men. Ghost hunting and review writing are set aside when Nina’s premonition of a murder comes true.
This is a fun cozy series. Nina’s more serious personality is offset by her zany friend and Jasper, the fashionista French Bulldog, adds oomph to every scene. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
I was able to read this book for free thanks to Book Sirens. Yet another adventure for Nina, Holly, and the adorable Jasper the French Bulldog. The plot and the writing is good. There are a lot of paranormal aspects, as usual. There is also murder and mystery. All in all, another great book in the series!
There are a lot of misspellings and the constant present tense is awkward. It really needs a good editor, but for a fun, supernatural mystery, it’s enjoyable. The connections between the various bad characters are a bit tenuous and it would be nicer if more was made of Nina’s powers, but there’s a solid story in the book with some work. This is the third in the series and I haven’t read the previous books, but it works as a stand-alone story.
I received a free copy from Book Sirens and my review is personal and freely given.
Curious title, right? Who would ever think of being "spooked" in Switzerland.
Before my visit with my fashionista, Jasper-like canine, I only knew three things about Switzerland.
1. Dark, decadent, delicious chocolate. 2. Watches (I had an iWatch, so wasn't so interested ...) 3. Rich billionaires (who also loved to ski)
You might ask me exactly "how" I ended up in Switzerland, and if I had the opportunity to enjoy any decadent chocolate, buy a watch, or meet a rich billionaire while skiing.
How I Ended up in Switzerland
Honestly, Switzerland had never been on one of the top five places I must visit in my lifetime. I prefer Swiss cheese fondue to skiing, for one thing.
Yet I'm a travel writer, and when the opportunity came up to stay at a 7-star resort, I said sure, sign me up.
All expenses paid.
The resort was over 200 years old.
And even though the hotel's fancy website didn't list recent "ghost sightings" I instinctively know that any hotel over 200 years old has a ghost.
Like it or not.
So I traveled to Switzerland.
Unlike the book, Spooked in Switzerland, I was not permitted to bring my fashionista bulldog, but everything else (for the most part) was the same.
At least, in my imagination.
To spell it out for you ... everything in the book happened to me except
1. There was not a murder that weekend. 2. I didn't kiss a billionaire (but we came close) 3. Rico, the salty-tongued parrot, had a previous engagement.
What happened is that I saw plenty of ghosts - enough to write about in Spooked in Salem.
Enjoy the book and look out for me on social media for more!
"Spooked in Switzerland," the third installment in the 'Nina Brown Paranormal Cozy Mystery' series, takes the supernatural intrigue to new heights. The Swiss setting provides an atmospheric backdrop for a fresh mystery, with snowy landscapes and picturesque chalets that contrast starkly with the eerie happenings that await our protagonist, Nina.
The narrative delves into another culinary journey, with Nina encountering delicious Swiss delicacies, which are written about with such mouth-watering detail that readers may find themselves craving fondue and raclette. Alongside this culinary journey, a fresh love interest stirs up the pot, adding a layer of complexity to Nina's life.
Just as Nina begins to settle into the Swiss lifestyle, she encounters another paranormal phenomenon: a chilling ghost story linked to one of the chalets. As Nina navigates the local customs and interpersonal relationships, she is tasked with solving this new supernatural mystery.
The characters are wonderfully eccentric, with each adding a unique flavor to the narrative, keeping readers engaged throughout. The addition of another psychic animal companion is a delightful touch, adding an element of whimsy to the otherwise suspenseful narrative.
"Spooked in Switzerland" offers an exciting blend of romance, mystery, and the paranormal. As with the previous books in the series, it delivers a satisfying ending while leaving readers eager to accompany Nina on her next adventure. The enthralling mix of the cozy and the eerie makes this book another compelling read in the series.
Another fun Nina and Holly mystery! This story follows Nina, Holly, and of course Jasper to a newly renovated fancy hotel in Switzerland. The women are overwhelmed by the amount of luxury amenities available at the hotel and at the over the top welcome by hotel staff. Soon, however, Nina begins having visions of the hotel general manager murdered. She also finds that there is a reason she was invited to the hotel's opening and not a more senior writer - they are asking that she banish the ghosts known to occupy the hotel. This book is full of characters, so many so that I became a little bogged down trying to remember who is who (especially with the male characters). I found myself having to pause my reading to go back and refresh myself on the male character names more than once. So, if reading, maybe have a notebook ready to jot down a little "who is who" guide! That said, I enjoy these cozy little mysteries. Without spoiling it, my favorite moment was towards the end when a very dramatic and brave rescue mission is performed by none other than Rico the Parrot. I actually laughed out loud during this part. I look forward to reading the next installment in Nina and Holly's adventures! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Poor Nina just wants to do a good job writing reviews for her magazine, get an advertising contract, and then hopefully a promotion so she can take care of her mom the way she wants to. Unfortunately she's gotten a bit of a reputation for helping to fix rather unusual situations during her recent assignments. This gift of hers, which she tries to deny, is not only not going away but seems to be getting stronger.
And this time the invitation to review the grand re-opening of an historic hotel specifically requested her presence. But why? And can she solve this particular problem? It turns into quite a wild ride with multiple twists and turns.
The author has created a wonderful cast of characters for this series, and it's fun to watch their adventures, see how the characters grow, and see how Nina's gift manifests each time. This story was hard to put down and kept me guessing. There were certainly some very tense moments!
I'm definitely planning to see what comes next for Nina and her friends. I did receive a free review copy of this book, and this is my voluntary review.
Nina was summoned by the irascible general manager, of a historic luxury hotel Belle Epoque Hotel's Grand reopening to write the story for the magazine she works for: Food! Travel! Wine! Magazine. And while there she was tasked with ridding the hotel of a ghost associated with this hotel. So with her very outgoing best friend, Holly and her fashion wearing dog, Jasper, they go to Switzerland to do the job. When she gets to meet the General Manager, she gets one of her premonitions that she might be murdered. Shaking it off, she starts to go about her business, when the General manager drops dead. Not we are taken through all types of red-herrings and dead ends while trying to find out who committed the murder. This is a fun book while the girls investigate and Nina has to hold Holly back sometimes, we are taken on a roller-coaster ride. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Read and See. Much Enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I Voluntarily Reviewed An Advanced Copy Of This Book.
I liked this one better than the second one, but it's definitely not a cosy mystery. There's a murder, there are paranormal occurences and if there are some mysteries it's more in the sense of unexplained occurences. I didn't see any amateur sleuthing in this book, I had the impression it was just some thoughts in passing, but no investigation.
And at the end, some things were told without any explanations. It's difficult to explain without spoilers ; I just wondered if there were some missing pages in my book (or maybe my e-reader is faulty).
All in all, the book is easy to read, and it had some fun moments. I loved the pets, they're even more unreal in this volume than the previous, and even more funny. I just wish I'd known beforehand it wasn't a cosy mystery.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This works well as a standalone. It's book three in the series and I hadn't read the previous books. Although I knew that there was some paranormal subject matter before I started reading, I admit it did take me some time to get to grips with it. Having said that, I enjoyed the book.
Nina and her friend are in Switzerland to review a 7 star hotel. It's clear that there's something else going on here as Nina is too junior for this task so there is an ulterior motive in play. This was a quirky and fun read. I enjoyed the setting of the story and the main characters. The dog Jasper's antics are hilarious. There is a murder here but for me, it took too long for it to happen. We know early on who is the obvious candidate to be killed but it still took a long time to occur so that was a downside for me. Nevertheless, it was really enjoyable and easy to read and I was easily able to read it in a day. I would read more in this series.

Nina, Holly and Jasper are traveling again, though, this time, Nina isn’t traveling to cover for her boss, she got a personal invitation to write about a new resort hotel. Turns out, she’s also there to help rid it of a ghost. And of course, when a murder occurs, Nina is right there in the thick of it, and even had a premonition that it might happen. Will she be able to figure out who the murderer is? Only time will tell!
We also get to see Rico again in this book, which adds another element of fun. Of course, Jasper is still my favorite of the characters, though they are all fun. I have read the other books that came before, but this book could also be read as a stand alone if needed. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series, and can’t wait to see where they go next. I received an arc copy of this book, but all opinions are my own.
Spooked in Switzerland is the third book in the Nina Brown Paranormal Cozy Mystery series and is set in Switzerland.
Nina, her bestie Holly, and their dog Jasper have been summoned to Switzerland to cover the grand re-opening of the historic Belle Epoque hotel. She’s not in Switzerland this time by her own design. The general manager specifically requested Nina to review the grand reopening for Travel! Food! Wine! There’s also the issue with the ghosts haunting the Belle. Now Nina is expected to review the grand reopening but prior to that date, banish some ghosts. As if that wasn’t enough, the general manager is murdered. Now Nina has some sleuthing to do and whole hotel full of employees who may have wanted their micro-managing general manager dead.
This is a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery. I loved the characters, setting, and story.
Spooked In Switzerland is another cozy mystery by Cat Green. Once again Nina Brown, an inspiring Entertainment Journalist, is on an adventure with her bff Holly and their adorable fashionista French Bulldog Jasper. Being invited to write a review of the grand reopening of the Belle Epoque Hotel, Nina and Holly are whisked away to Switzerland. But of course mystery and danger follow the trio wherever they go. In Spooked we get mystery, drama, murder and mayhem, and don't forget deceit. We get thrown a bit of romance on the side. Pack your bags and join the girls, and of course Jasper in all his glory. We get a guest visit from the powerhouse parrot, Rico from Silenced In Salem. cat-green
An interesting trip for NinaNina, Holly and Jasper are on another trip to wtite about a hotel. This time they are in Switzerland and not only is Nina to review a total redo of a hotel but a tribute concert to a legendary performer, who died in a fire 50 years before at the same hotel, is to be held. Upon their arrival they are treated royally but also encounter some quirky characters. As well Nina's gift makes an appearance when she meets the hotel manager. Will the preminition come true and how are all these people linked to the story from the past? Read and enjoy this new mystery in the Nina Brown series.

“Spooked in Switzerland” is my third Cat Green book. I have mixed feelings on this one. I still find her plot lines fresh and Nina’s character continues to develop. This author is good at working into the mystery with foreshadowing clues, which allows the reader’s imagination to develop their own scenarios as they read.
However, the writing feels rushed to me, and there is way too much of Jasper for my taste. I’m hoping that in future offerings Jasper will be more of an auxiliary character and not constantly interjected into every scene and dialog. And I’m really missing Pyewacket from “Silenced in Salem”.

Spooked in Switzerland is book #3 in the Nina Brown Paranormal Cozy Mystery series by Cat Green.
Nina, Jasper, and Holly fly to Switzerland so Nina can review the grand re-opening of a 7-star resort. Nina’s gift allows her to see an event, but can she do anything about it?
I enjoyed this story. Nina got to have wonderful experiences with Daniel and Gian I thought it was humorous when the staff commented on the Americans and Jasper. They voiced what I was thinking as a reader. The ending was intense and had me holding my breath to see what would happen. I look forward to seeing where Nina, Jasper, and Holly are off to next.
I received a free copy of this book via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I am not a fan of the bouncing perspectives. I mean it when I say bouncing. One moment its Nina, the next moment its some random person we've never been introduced to before, the next moment its Nina again and on and on and on. It was okay the way it was done the first couple of chapters but as it got further in the more frequently and random it seemed to change perspective. It felt like the author was struggling to get the story out so they changed perspective to fake it out. If it had stayed in one or, maybe two, people's perspective it could have come according as a more thought out and thought provoking story.
That all being said, I did still enjoy the story enough to reas at least one more book to this series. If only for Jasper and Rico.
The third book in the series finds Nina, Holly and Jasper at a 7⭐️luxury hotel that definitely has more going on there than initially meets the eye. Nina was attending in her own right, not covering for her boss, but things aren’t quite as straight forward as she hoped. And then the general manager gets murdered.
This is such an easy read, a bit superficial but a lovely way to spend a few hours. It certainly is a cozy Murder mystery, with a good story, some interesting and endearing characters too. I especially love that Rico is back in this and it goes without saying that Jasper is as suave and entertaining as before. The paranormal side is very entertaining too.

The plot will keep you guessing who the bad guy is… you have to read and find out..such a great book!! Can't wait to see what the girls and Jasper finds in the next adventure… maybe a love interest..another lost friend..a ghost??😉
I received this as an ARC and leaving this review voluntarily.
3.5-3.75 Stars After enjoying the first couple of books in this series, I can say that Spooked in Switzerland embraces the same loveable and lighthearted characters and atmosphere as its predecessors. The traveling trio, along with some new eccentric characters, visit a new beautifully described locale and help solve another murder. It's fun and quirky, a ittle bit like a 21st century Clue. The short chapters work well with this writing style and the flow of the story has gotten better as well. I hope to see the MC's supernatural abilities grow in the next one. A modern cozy for a rainy day.
Spooked in Switzerland is Book 3 in A Nina Brown Paranormal Mystery by Cat Green. Nina is in Switzerland for the reopening of a hotel for her magazine. Along with her best friend, Holly, Nina brings her French Bulldog, Jasper. There is so much action and fabulous characters including a Prince in book 3. I don't want to spoil the story by saying much, so, I will say that Spooked in Switzerland is wonderful and an enjoyable mystery. I believe that Cat Green writes mysteries that are enjoyable, fast paced, and surprising. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
What a fun book to read! Nina, her friend Holly and their dog Jasper head to Switzerland where Nina is covering an updated swanky hotel and where they are treated like royalty. There are so many laugh out loud moments as they frolic through their days and of course then there's Jasper taking centre stage in the action with his countless clothing changes. There's plenty of laughs, action and sleuthing throughout the book. Nina's special "gift" and Jasper's good sense make sure that the mystery is solved and lives saved. I received this ARC from Book Sirens and this is my honest review.
Talk about a fun book that you won't be able to put down!
Join Nina, Holly and their loveable pooch Jasper as they travel to a decadent boutique hotel in Switzerland to write a review.
The scenery was so well-written that I wish I could jump in the pages and be transported there, along with a cast of loveable characters who all brought a unique strength to the overall story.
I cannot wait to read more by this author.
I received an advance review copy for free from Book Sirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Jasper is the star of this book. I love the way he chooses his own outfits and is such a pampered pooch. That being said the rest of the characters are a lot of fun as well. Nina is unable to prevent a murder but can she also prevent history repeating itself with a horrific fire? There were lots of twists, turns and wit. Although this is the third book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. I can't wait for the next installment in this series although I would be happy with a novella of just Jasper being Jasper for a day from his point of view.
This was a very busy one, but quite entertaining too. The animals were a huge draw for me. That parrot and the verbal diarrhea non stop kept me laughing. Jasper with his stylish outfits and intelligence was a show stopper. The visions were amazing. I kept turning pages and guessing as I read to no avail. I had a hard time figuring out who the bad guys were, but I enjoyed it all from start to finish. A fast paced intriguing read I recommend. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion.
I absolutely LOVED this book! The story keeps you on reading way past bedtime just to try and figure out who the bad guy is!;) lol Character's that jump off the page and come to life, extremely well written! I can't wait to see what happens in their next adventure! I highly recommend this book and the entire series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I'm also buying a copy to send to my sister-in-law!
What a whirlwind of a book. Nina working for her magazine is in Switzerland with Holly & Jasper the dog. They are there to cover the reopening of The Belle Époque a magnificent old mansion. There Nina has a couple of nasty visions which sadly come true. The Theatre next to the mansion is to be reopened, too, with a very special tribute concert. There is so much of interest in thus book, I just had to finish it before going to sleep.
