At least that’s what the sign hanging in Mistledough, the bakery owned by the gorgeous and mysterious Nyall claims.
When reporter Aaron Newton is banished to Mistletoe Falls for the holidays and forced to provide fluffy and lighthearted stories without a hint of scandal, or else, he finds himself drawn to both the bakery and the sweet taste of the man who runs it.
Aaron may not have come to the small Christmas town for love, but a little holiday magic is in the air, and the season may bring Aaron everything he’s ever wanted… if he’s willing to get whisked away by the handsome baker whose family has a secret to rival Santa Claus himself.
If you love opposites attract, small towns with holiday traditions galore, and magical elves, er, sprites, who make the season bright, you'll fall head-over-mixing bowl for this feel good Christmas romance.
Author's Note: Although this series takes place in the Chosen Universe, it is completely stand-alone.
Macy Blake believes in unicorns and fairies, in moonbeams and stardust, and that happily ever after comes in all colors of the rainbow. When she’s not busy at the day job, she loses herself in paranormal romance, living vicariously through her favorite sexy fictional heroes. These days you can often find her pounding away at the keyboard, trying to capture the magic of her own worlds.
Oh, I am so bummed that I have to wait for the rest of these stories! This is the super sweet kind of Christmas story I totally can get behind and would have just kept reading.
This was fun and sweet and sexy. I loved the ease, the baking, the decor, the cousins and of course the magic.
Cute little Christmas tie in to Macy's Chosen Universe.
2.5 It's a Christmas story with Macy Blake's brand of sweetness and adorability while Mistletoe Falls with its town-square is a dream right out of a Hallmark show (decide on your own if that's too much for you) and because and because it's also the Chosen One universe there is insta-love to be expected. Even with that in mind the characters, while cute and goofy, are a tad too old-fashioned and the connection between Nyall and Aaron nearly brakes any speed record. Would still have been a nice, sugary read in green, red and gold if not for the big revelation at the end of this story when Nyall has to tell Aaron what he is. That part was so fast and without the necessary emotion I felt like a passing comment that has to be detailed in the next book.
Short, sweet, fated mates, insta-love. I'm not quite there in the christmas spirit yet. Too early in the morning for christmas puns. Aaron was full on and Nyall was shy. I liked how the magic worked by itself. Curious about Obie.

This is a start of a quartet of stores about 4 sprite cousins who live in Mistletoe Fall, a Christmas town. They are aware that the world's magic has been waning (this is vaguely connected to other books in the author's universe) but they sense this year is different.
Nyall is the town baker and when he meets Aaron, a reporter whose father sends him to cover stories in Mistletoe Falls as punishment for chasing down a sensitive story, he meets Nyall and they are instantly attracted. Nyall starts to freak out when his magic starts acting up and doing shit like decorating things/cookies without his knowledge. The cousins wonder if this is the start of a change in the magic and maybe Aaron is Nyall's fated mate.
These are just sweet and a lot of fun. Very feel-good. There is a bit of relationship drama but it's very short-lived and they don't really go into details of explaining to his human mate what he is, but they are just fun reads that leave a smile on your face. I swear I'd have to go on that show my 600-lb life if I lived with a baker.
Tooth ache inducingly sweet short story. I think this story would have been better with a little more flesh. It was all happening so quickly and often suddenly. You nearly got whiplash by how fast things were progressing. And how Linus came to the conclusion that they must be mates is still a mystery to me. Well, one could maybe deduce it but there were also some other explanations that were certainly plausible.
That being said, it was sweet, low angst and with very likable characters. I'm sure going to pick up the next 3 books of this holiday series. If nothing else, it surly upped my holiday spirit making me want to decorate and listen to Christmas music.
This is a cute, fun, short read. We still see the ripple effects of events from Chosen Universe with the increased magic and mates coming out the woodwork, but this absolutely works as a standalone without that background. Giving grace for the length of the book, it still felt like a really fast ending. Like, I was all ready for a cliffhanger and seeing Nyall and Aaron’s romance continue through the series, but not mad with how it resolved. Really looking forward to the rest of the cousins’ stories!
Sort of nice but uneven and a bit boring. This is instalove with a fantasy explanation, which unfortunately doesn't really make it better, since the whole fantasy aspect remains rather untapped. The ending is rushed while the beginning drags on, and the humour is heavily built on Christmas puns. It's not bad, but not much tickled my fancies. There were some nice moments and I almost got interested in the cousins' potential love stories.
This was such a cute book! Nyall and Aaron were so sweet, I loved their short romance of instant attraction and magic all around. Perfect world for the holiday season. I cannot wait to read the rest from the series.
When it became evident that the four books were overlapping and intertwined, I decided to read all four before writing my reviews. The stories take place in the Chosen Universe though there is little reference to the fact.
Welcome to Mistletoe Falls where Solstice and Christmas are the town’s raison d’etre. The MCs, all sprites, only know that magic has been waning in the human realm. When four newcomers arrive in Mistletoe Falls within a two week stretch and start interacting with our MCs, the spite’s magic begins to manifest itself in strange ways. (Did no one from the larger Universe ever think to let the guys in on the knowledge that Fated Mates are happing all over?)
Each book is primarily about one couple, but we get glimpses of other interactions throughout, and those hints of what’s to come are explored in future books as seen through the eyes of those MCs.
Nyall: At first I was puzzled by the tone of the book, as it is nowhere near as serious as the other books from this universe. So. Many. Christmas. Puns. Nyall runs the local bakery, Mistledough and meets reporter Aaron who wants to do a story on the unusual town. Spark fly (literally) and the two feel the trope known as insta-love. I usually roll my eyes at the notion, but magic makes their mutual attraction.
Oberon: Sprite Oberon is the town handyman, and is hired to help the new local vet, Miles Lane and his adorably cheerful daughter (through surrogacy), Holly and their puppy, Ivy. This is probably my favorite of the four books. The chemistry feels more organic in this one for me.
Eldon: Sprite Eldon owns the local holiday/craft store Deck the Walls. It’s next door to the now closed (and sold) Snowda Shoppe. In this story we get to know the unnamed man from earlier as Tate. Tate has secrets of his own, and he loves to tease Eldon. Somehow there snarky flirtation grows though neither can really understand why. (It’s magic, duh).
Linus: Linus owns and runs the Tinseled Inn, the B&B in town. He’s highly dramatic and oblivious to the chaos he creates (which I found annoying). When Tate’s BFF, Colby comes to town. He and Linus don’t exactly hit it off, but little by little as Linus drops his bravado and let’s Colby know what’s really in his heart, the two find a kindred sense of unity. This story gets bonus points for the cameo at the end, which I will not spoil.
All in all, the series is fluffy and fun. VERY low angst and rather adorable. They make a welcome (if tonally different) addition to the Chosen One Universe.
Nyall is the first in a four-book spin-off series set in Blake’s Chosen One universe. That being said, the Christmas Sprites series is only tangentially related and even if you haven’t read the multitude of books in the world, you’d be fine reading this book and series. This story is fast paced, and the reader has to be ready to take a leap into fated mates instalove in order for this to work.
As usual, Blake has a knack for creating memorable characters. Nyall and his three cousins are no exception. There’s a fun twist in that their magic is tied to Christmas. The whole town of Mistletoe Falls is all in during December, with light parades, pageants, and town-wide decorations. Most of the inhabitants are human and have no idea they have sprites in their midst. All of that being said, for me, this book has a lack of world building, particularly where the magic is involved. I was able to fill in a few blanks because I’m so familiar with the universe that the author has created. But without that background knowledge, I think the story suffers a bit and have rated this book accordingly.
a sweet holiday romance, an adorable beginning to a new Christmas series
Rating: 4🌈
Nyall is a sweet holiday romance, an adorable beginning to a new Christmas series about a holiday village, Mistletoe Falls, and a special magical family of sprites looking for their HEA’s.
First up is the village baker, Nyall, who meets reporter Aaron Newton, banished to the village to write holiday fluff by his father for a past byline mistake. It becomes a delightful romance as Nyall , and his cousins, show Aaron the Christmas experience by way of all the events and the festivities that happen in Mistletoe Falls.
Of course, there’s a certain magical charm and glamour that occurs to spice things up. There’s a tiny mystery (not much of one) as well as a itty bitty drama about their relationship.
This is pretty much angst free, and a quick easy holiday read. It also sets up the next story which is cousin Oberon’s romance. There’s four books in total. I’m looking forward to reading them all.
Christmas Sprites: Nyall #1 Oberon #2 Eldon #3 - Dec 15, 2022 Linus #4 - Dec 22, 2022
This was a sweet holiday treat, for sure. Nyall is a sprite who bakes goodies in his little town of Mistletoe Falls. He and his brothers, also sprites, are responsible for spreading the holiday spirit far and wide. When his magic goes wonky, he realizes it's due to the arrival of Aaron, a reporter who is going to do a few feature stories for the news station his dad runs. And so it begins.
My only complaint about this package of holiday goodness is that it was too short. I would have liked more couple time and maybe a little conflict, but what we do get is adorable and I loved these guys together so it's still a win for me. Since the brothers were all present, and the author included them so well, I have a mad urge to read the next book which I think is about Obie. I can't wait for it to come out. This is the perfect stocking stuffer for those who want a touch of magic with their holiday romance.
In the last Magical Mates book, Blake delivered an off the cuff reference to a town called Mistletoe Falls. My heart leapt with excitement. Could it possibly be? Yes! It's true, linked to the shifter shenanigans of The Chosen Universe we have the Christmas Sprites in this series of short novellas about cousins who bring the joy of the season to their town. First up is Nyall who owns Mistledough and out of town reporter Aaron sent to deliver "happy fluff pieces". These guys are sweet, funny, punny and sexy-cute. And the book ends on a light hook to lead us into Oberon.
DNF @37%... huh. This is the second recent book from this author that just hasn't worked for me. It was cute and fluffy and Christmassy, all of which I adore, but there was also a flavor of zaniness to the humor or something that turned me off. I really enjoyed most of her Chosen series, but I read them a while ago, so I'm not sure if her writing voice is shifting away from my taste, or if it's just me 🤷♀️ Anyway, kind of a bummer as I was looking forward to this series when I first saw it pop up. It's a pass for me though, although I'm sure there will be many who enjoy the hell out of it 🙃.
Nyall is the first book in the Christmas Sprites series. And if there wasn't mention of the goddess, how magic was changing in the human realm and an oblique mention of hellhounds, I would not have known that these stories are supposed to be taking place within the Chosen Universe. Because as much as I've enjoyed the Chosen and other related series, I can't believe these are by the same author. The book seemed far too lighthearted to be a Macy Blake. Make no mistake, it was quite fun. And quickly read. I look forward to the other cousins and their mates.
A baking sprite + a nosy reporter = Christmas magic.
What a delightful start to a new series! Mistletoe, gingerbread houses, cookies, brownies, all combine to reawaken the holiday spirit in a reporter. I was swept up in this story. It is fast- paced, sexy, sweet, funny, and full of magic. You will love the cousins. Their distinctive personalities shine through. Come. Join Nyall and Aaron on the road to HEA. You are gonna love this book! But the story is not ended. It continues in the next book. I can't wait to read it!
Cute start to the series of the Christmas sprites. I love the cousins and how they are all one big happy family.
Aaron was harder to like at the start as he was a bit surly but that changes pretty quickly and his nicer self comes out. I enjoyed his relationship with his family.
Nyall was great too. I love a baker story and this didn’t disappoint. I did struggle a bit with the connection between the two. It was more like attraction to each other and as it was a shortish story the author didn’t have a lot time to show the deeper side.
The cousins at Mistletoe Falls are all sprites, and their magic is ramping up this year.
When Aaron comes to town to report on some fun Christmas events, he ends up literally bumping into Nyall. Nyall’s bakery then starts producing gingerbread men and thumb print cookies fully decorated.
The two men get sparkles in their eyes and have a great date together. But, when Aaron has to leave for another story, they both feel the ache as only truly mated people can.
The instalove makes things a bit off, but the story and premise of the series are all great fun.
Contains: christmas spirit, live in a magical way, decorations dilemma, reporter as fated mates.
I have read this serie in a disorder way. So yeah, it is a standalone but it's still in chronological way so if you have read the following one you know some of the story already. It is interesting but one after one after one is kinda blending and boring. Take time to be in the good mood for sweet magical christmassy time.
I know Christmas has passed, but I'm still reading fluffy Christmas easy-read books. Macy Black has written four books about Christmas Sprites. They are just cute, easy reads that make us smile.
Nyall is a baker, and Aaron is a reporter, add a bit of Christmas magic, and you have a cute story.
Nyall: Christmas Sprites Book One Kindle Edition by Macy Blake
This is a cute fated mates short story. I loved the chemistry between Nyall and Aaron. Who doesn't love a all town baker falling in love with the hot shot sent away to stew after a screw up (or apparent screw up).
These two are just the perfect blend of sugar and spice. ❤️
If you are in the mood for some holiday dopamine with Sprites who take Winter holiday cheer very seriously & true love magic that has just returned to the land, this book (and I’m guessing this series) will give you all the cozy, goofy, winter winter romance your heart desires.
Holiday fun and fated mates. This story was sweet and fun and full of holiday magic. I loved any all and his cousins. I can’t wait to see all of them find their mates during this winter season. I also want to point it that I loved the author’s use of the Yule and Winter solstice season instead of making it Christmas specifically. Fun story.
