This book was well written and interesting. The story and the mystery were both good and engaging. There were a few things about it that weren't quite my thing (I like my romances more on the silly/funny side, and I didn't really click with the main character), but I still enjoyed it on the whole. Anyone who enjoys mystery mixed with romance will probably like this book.

Intriguing Mystery and Characters

This darkish mystery/romance features main characters in lesser-known and interesting careers — a game warden investigator and a translator — who are just starting a relationship when James catches a strange case. His investigation and its required professional secrecy complicates the relationship and vice-versa. It’s a pleasure to follow these intriguing characters while trying to solve the mystery.

A meaty romance you can sink your teeth into.

I was expecting a fluffy, frivolous romance. Instead, I got a tightly written story with believable characters and a layered plot. Part police procedure thriller, part mystery, and part romance, readers will enjoy The Game Warden's Match for the depth of its story telling and the three dimensional development of the main characters.

I greatly enjoyed this book and was delighted at the depth of story. I am not usually a romance reader, but I enjoyed that aspect as well as the layers of crime and detective work.

I recommend this to romance readers who enjoy that extra detail in the story.

Good read. It started out slow but I was invested in the characters and wanted to see what happened. I'm glad I stuck with it; it was definitely worth the wait.

This book kept you guessing. I really enjoyed this book and recommend reading it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Not as Good as Expected

Although I liked the plot of this story, its execution was horrible. Scenes changed so abruptly that it became difficult to understand what was happening next. Sometimes during dialogues it was difficult to determine which character spoke which line. In one instance the name of one main character was completely changed! Several words were either left unfinished, used incorrectly or misspelled. I made all these instances visible in my review. Who edited this work? Each time I came across a bizarre word or sentence, my brain popped right out of the story which made for some really irritated reading. I know the author is Canadian, but there were some usages of terms I was not familiar with. I read a lot of other Canadian authors and never once have I come across this particular issue. I have the following book in this series but I honestly don't want to read it. Maybe I'll relegate it to the last on my TBR pile.
