My future is planned, and it doesn't include a relationship.
The last one destroyed me. I was in love...but she was in love with my money. So, I'm done with that.
Instead, I'm throwing my energy into mentoring the younger players on the team and planning for the end of my NHL career. Since I only speak in three word sentences, my next move is going to shock everyone.
Once I hang my skates up, I want to be a full-time country singer/songwriter. No one knows that I write music and perform, but I'm cocky enough to know it’ll happen. I’ve got the talent. I’ve got the drive. Nothing is going to stand in my way.
Until a freak accident on the ice causes enough damage that I lose my voice. I don't know if I'll be able to talk....let alone sing, again.
It's in physical therapy where I meet her. Kingsley. She's the best therapist around and if anyone can get me singing again, it's her. But the more time I spend with her, the more I have to remind myself of my no-relationships rule.
And when I enter a songwriting contest, it turns out, Kingsley has entered too.
Now crushes don’t matter. She's my competition.
And I have a new Don’t get close to Kingsley and my heart won’t get broken.
After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye. It’s true. Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line. My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied. I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you. I love to hear from my readers and answer all communications personally. Well Colleen Charles has done it once again. She’s made me fall desperately in love with her newest couple, Cash and Kingsley. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Cash throughout the series as the silent player who slowly opened his heart to having a best friend, Marco. Cash is such a layers character and I was happy to see more of those layers in his book. Kingsley was a fantastic addition and a perfect match for Cash. They have similar passions, dreams, and she brings out the best in him.
An injury on the ice leads him to need the help of a Speech Language Pathologist. It is discovered that he could also use help with a stammer which is the reason for his habit of speaking in short sentences. As an SLP I loved the use of the profession in this book. There was just enough to be like “I’m an SLP too!” and not so much that I had to worry that technique and results would be incorrect or overstated. It was handled really well and I loved it. Singing therapy is actually an approach and I LOVED the use of it here especially when it came to scenes with other minor characters.
As always with CC novels, this book is hilarious! How do you have so much occur in an and references to a Costco and it be some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever read? Because that’s what she does! Add in a Renaissance Faire, an inappropriate ostrich, his roommate’s dog, and his teammates and things just get funnier. I can never get enough of the hilarity and banter that CC creates in her books! We can’t forget about the spice that she scorches her books with! This book is a slower burn than some of her books but I think this story needed it. As his voice therapist, she can’t just jump into the steam with him. Goals needs to be met and care needs to be ended for there to not be an ethical issue. Plus we got a chance to get to know them, their feelings, their background and lives, and fall in love of them both individually and together before things got super heated.
The ending of this romance was beyond anything that I expected. There was some drama but nothing involving another woman. They both have pasts that they’ve ignored and not talked about. While not necessarily secrets, they are omissions, and those always cause a problem. Nothing irredeemable or that causes the reader to change how they feel about the main characters though. The redemption leads to a super fun and very fitting ending for Cash and Kingsley. I read this book in one sitting, loved the journey, thrilled at the outcome, stopped to fan myself a time or two, and smiled constantly.
This book so full of amazing lines but my two favorites are: “The difference between three words and no words is brutal.” “She’s my muse when it comes to both speaking and singing.”
I have loved every book in this series but I think this is the best story. As usual the author takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions before the characters get their happily ever after. The storyline is realistic, heartwarming and heartwrenching. Highly recommend!
Kingsley St. James was raised in a wealthy family with extremely controlling parents, especially her father. She breaks with her family and moved to La s Vegas with her bestie Delilah. He desperately wants to be part of a committed relationship. He is looking for a woman of substance, with shared values and who has a sense of self.

Kingsley St. James comes from a wealthy family. She's in a job that her dad made sure she got and she hates it and quilts which doesn't sit well with her dad who cuts her off, so she's out. She and her bestie move to Vegas.
Six years have passed and she now has her masters in speech pathology and is a speech language pathologist with a speciality in voice. She and her bestie love to write and play music so this is a perfect job she loves.
Clayton "Cash" Hale has played fourteen seasons in the NHL. He is the alternate captain of the Venom team. He's grumpy, talks in 3 word sentences and seems to wind up with the rookies coming on board living with him and to mentor them.
His last roommate, ex teammate and now announcer Marco is getting married and the guys are doing a bachelor party at a strip joint but don't stay long as most are married and want to get home.
Oh but first a trip to Costco to pick up a rotisserie chicken for one of the wives. Marco has never been to Costco and is having a blast. "There is everything here! Everything. It is all so enorme. It is like a Target, but even more!" Nothing worse than taking a group of tipsy hockey players and one that's never been.
When Cash gets injured by his rookie/roommate with a stick to the throat, he ends up in Kingsley's office for help. He had planned on being a country singer/songwriter after his hockey career but now with this injury he's not sure he will be able to talk.
Turns out Kingsley was the lady from Costco he helped and was smitten by her. The more time they spend together the closer they get. He's not a relationship kind of guy and tries to keep that in mind.
Now they are in a songwriting competition. Who will win?
4.5 stars I laughed so hard with the Costco trip. Their antics were hilarious.
Kingsley, the female lead, left her family to pursue her dream instead of leading the life her parents dictated. Now an established therapist, she’s pursuing her music dreams on the side.
Cash, the male lead, has been a hockey player for years with a locked recording studio in his house. He secretly plans to write/record music when he’s finished with hockey but, when an accidental stick to the throat threatens to derail his dreams, he’s desperate to get the best assistance.
Kingsley and Cash are attracted to each other but acting on that attraction is inappropriate…for now. So they build a friendship in the meantime. But they’re both guarded, because of their pasts, and not sharing much of themselves with each other. When disruption comes, maybe they can’t hold together…
This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and an interesting addition to the series. I find particularly interesting that this story and the one before ended with the lead male characters leaving hockey as a profession. I appreciated both characters’ determination to create their own destinies away from what their parents wanted. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters. I actively laughed at a few scenes. I enjoyed the intimate scenes. I admit I didn’t like this story as much as others by this author. I think I felt like the lead characters overreacted at a few points. I’m not sad I read it, though, and am looking forward to the next one.

I’m a big fan of Colleen’s Vegas Venom series, and I have been secretly crushing on Cash since the beginning. This quiet man who rarely says more than a few words was a fabulous side character, but in this book he finally steps into the spotlight and boy does he shine!
Cash has always been happy with his single status, focusing on his hockey career yet planning for his second act - singing and songwriting. His self awareness and recognition that maybe it’s time for something more in his personal life was touching and so different from so many male characters he n sports romance who are playboys with a sordid past. Cash is a perfect sexy gentleman.
As a new character in the series, Kingsley and her backstory quickly captured my interest and my support. Controlling parents like hers are borderline emotionally abusive, and seeing her show the fortitude and determination to strike out on her own with her best friend Delilah was great.
I loved how Cash and Kingsley’s initial meeting took place in Costco. The guys were hilarious, especially Marco! Most unique bachelor party outing ever.
Overall this was a thoroughly enjoyable read with some downright hilarious moments - ostrich mating dance anyone?!

This is the 5th book in the Vegas Venom series featuring the enchanting funny,slow-burn hockey romance between Cash and Kingsley. Kingsley comes from a wealthy family who cut her off when she quit a job that she hated and that her father ensured she got. Once she was cut-off she moved to Vegas with her best friend where she went back to get her masters in speech pathology. Kingsley is now a speech language pathologist with a specialty in voice and since her and her best friend love to play and write music her job couldn't be more perfect. Cash has played the last 14 seasons in the NHL and he's the alternate captain of his team the Venom. Cash doesn't talk much he's grumpy and he always seems to be the one mentoring the rookies. On the way home from Marco's bachelor party the guys all stop at Costco but Marco's never been there before so he's having the time of his life. When Cash is injured by a rookie with a stick to the throat he winds up at Kingsley's office for help. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this enchanting funny,slow-burn hockey romance to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this AMAZING series!!.

First off, I have to disclose that I truly love this entire series by Colleen Charles, so my expectation for Dangler, Book 5 of the Vegas Venom Series, was sky high. I found Dangler to be just as hot, funny, exciting, emotional, romantic, and all over delightful as its predecessors! It’s about Cash Hale, pro hockey player for the Venom who is injured during practice and requires therapy for rehab. Into the treatment room walks Kingsley St. James, the beautiful stranger who walked out of Costco with Cash’s roasted chicken and his heart. They have history and a few surprises, twists, and turns that were unexpected but keep the story interesting, funny, emotional, and romantic. Cash has great character and, underneath that gruff, silent/mystery/man exterior, a wonderfully sweet outlook on life despite his childhood comes out. His interactions with Kingsley are intense, emotional, steamy, and then very, very, very hot. And Kingsley is a bit of a surprise and her relationship with her family is all too familiar, but she works out as a perfect fit when paired with Cash. I really liked the ending which I will not give away at all, only to say that Ms. Charles again outdid herself!! Bottom line...buy this book and the 4 books before it ASAP!!
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Cash is a hockey player on Vegas Venom and he is at the back end of his career. He has plans that everyone will be shocked by because Cash does not really talk a lot. Cash wants to be a fulltime singer and song writer, he has the skills now it is time to put is dream in motion. An accident on the ice may have cost him his dream.
Kingsley is a Speech Pathologist that Cash previously met at Costco with some hockey buddies looking for some rotisserie chicken, which she snagged. She has stayed on his mind since that run in, but now she is his Speech Pathologist.
Cash and Kingsley are perfect for each other both have a passion for music and have the perfect name for a band. I really enjoyed the banter and chemistry between these two. They fit so perfectly together that you are rooting for them from the get go. Both end up in the same contest against each other but will it mean the end of Cash and Kingsley?
Kingsley was raised in an affluent family however when her plans for the future differed from theirs, they became estranged. She relocated to Vegas and is now a speech pathologist where she can use her love of music to help others. Her newest client turns out to be a hockey player and they find themselves trying to fight the attraction between them while he is her patient.
Cash has dreams of pursing a music career after his hockey career comes to an end. After an injury places that dream in jeopardy he finds himself in Kingsley’s office hoping that she can help him heal. There is no denying the feelings between them however a misunderstanding could destroy everything.
Kingsley and Cash have more in common than even they realize as they take us on a journey filled with fun, humor, romance and emotion.
Cash Hale will soon be retiring from the NHL and has plans that will surprise everyone. He writes songs and is a talented singer, so devoting himself full-time to country music is his future goal. But before that happens, he is badly injured by a hockey stick hitting his throat and loses his voice, making it necessary to work with a therapist if he ever hopes to gain it back. Kingsley St. James is a top therapist so they work together on his recovery. But trouble comes when a songwriting contest pits both Cash and Kingsley against each other! Will that put a definite end to his interest in her when his therapy is over? Will he be able to sing again or has that part of his dream been destroyed?
I enjoyed meeting all of the characters and appreciate the moments of humor. Grab your copy and see what the future has to offer him.
I love Cash!!!!! I have been waiting for this story! I love all the guys, but Cash just always did something for me. I loved how they met and the quirkiness of this read. Kingsley and Delilah are a hoot! You get to see the Venom crew, and good ol' Marco is always there for a laugh. Cash and Kingsley have tons of chemistry together, and of course there are sexy times. The whole thing at the end was a little annoying as I don't think Kingsley was in the right of it either. However, the ending was good, ends are tied up, and you get your happy ever after. I have loved this series! You could probably read these alone, but they are all so good, read them all!!!.

I have just finished reading this latest book in the Vegas Venom series and it didn’t disappoint. This book tells Cash’s story. He has featured in the background of all the other books he’s the quiet one, or so people think but he’s surprising in so many ways and he just hadn’t found his perfect woman until an accident on the ice has his seeing a therapist, who turns out to be the same gorgeous lady he gave his chicken too in Costco. Kingsley and Cash are very alike and perfect for each other.
This charming and heartwarming story which also covers Marco & Maddison’s wedding who’s story was told in the previous books.
The Vegas Venom series is my absolute favourite from Colleen Charles I hope there’s more to come.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I swear, I love each of these players more than the last. Cash is so funny in a more dry way than the other guys. We find out about why he doesn’t speak much and his past, which were not expected, but definitely interesting. Cash is basically awestruck by Kingsley from their first meeting. Then she is treating him, causing a different issue since she wants him too. Both are keeping a lot of secrets that cause a huge problem later. And OMG when will Dante be dealt with? He is so disgusting. I think the epilogue was a little less than satisfying to me in the parents area. I would have liked to actually see more of what happened over the months. I am so hoping that Delilah ends up with one of the guys.
Dangler is book 5 of the Vegas Venom series. It can be read a standalone, but you won't want to miss the other books. This team is AWESOME! Cash is the loner, quiet, broody player who is aging and feeling the pain. When a freak accident happens on the ice during practice, Cash is in need of a speech/vocal therapist. Kingsley is the estranged daughter of a wealthy financier, but living her life on her own terms. The career she wants until she can make music (her real passion) a full time job. Cash and Kingsley bond over music, but find they have more in common than expected. This story has lots of humor from the team antics, passionate steamy scenes, and a royal HEA!.

Cash and Kingsley are not total opposites; they share a mutual interest in music. And they both have day jobs not in the music industry. What I like best about Kingsley is that she's living her dream, not the one her parents envisioned for her. Cash is an interesting character, nearing the end of his hockey career, he hasn't been a manwhore like some of his teammates. His grumpiness plays well off Kingsley's sunshine attitude. Marco is back, and he's still hilarious. He'll always be my favorite character in this series. This was such an enjoyable book, seeing Cash and Kingsley grow and change as they fall in love. This is the 5th book in this incredible series, and this is Cash and Kingsley’s journey. Cash has no time for relationships, and he is mentoring younger players on the team, while he plans the end of his NHL career, while he wants to become a full time country singer/ songwriter, but a freak accident on the ice, has him losing his voice. Kingsley is a physical therapist, and the chemistry between them is off the charts and undeniable. This is a well written story which is easy to read, with humor, witty banter, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy, heartwarming page turner, which is a great addition to this great series. I really enjoyed Cash and Kingsley's story. I found it very easy to care about these characters and they gave me a very meant to be feel. The story offers a wonderful combination of emotion, drama, humor, sweetness, spice and heart. Much like the last book in this fun series, this book has a bit of a different feel, and it really delivers a story that is so much more than what you might actually expect going in. Personally, I loved it. I felt so many emotions in relation to Cash and I truly admired Kingsley's desire to forge her own path and the fierce determination they each had to follow their dreams. This is my freely posted, frank review.
I really enjoyed this story featuring veteran hockey player, Clayton (Cash) and Kingsley. They meet after Cash sustains a nasty injury and she’s his therapist. One thing leads to another and they become very good friends! Great story telling, great characters that are supported by characters from the previous stories plus new ones introduced. I really detest the teams owner and hope he gets his comeuppance. Cash and Kingsley break up because of the owners meddling but thankfully, Delilah, Kingsley BFF comes to the rescue. Lovely story.

Cash is a leading goalscorer for the Vegas Venom NHL team and mentor for the younger players, but he's also a man of few words. That's why his dream of being a country singer would be such a surprise if he let anyone know. But after a freak accident on the ice, Cash is afraid that he lost more than his voice. Kingsley is a vocal therapist and is shocked to realize that her new patient is the man who tried to win her over with a Costco chicken. She's drawn to this shy enigmatic man, even more so when he confesses why he doesn't talk much. As they become closer, Kingsley faces a moral dilemma... she can't date a patient. But neither one realizes there's an even bigger hurdle keeping them apart. This sweet story is packed with all the feels. Cash is a man of few words, but boy does he make them count. And when he finally reveals what's in his locked room (nothing like Fifty Shades, lol) he could win any girl's heart! I loved the humor in this book: the hilarious banter between the guys, the ostrich dance, the port-a-potty scene all had me laughing out loud. I'm looking forward to finishing the rest of the series.
Cash first runs into Kingsley in Costco, when her is with his friends. He is smitten but does not ask for her number. When Cash is injured, losses his voice, he needs the help of a specialist. This is where he runs into Kingsley again, she is a speech pathologist.
Cash has dreams of a music career but with no voice that will not be possible. Kingsley also has dreams of stardom, it what caused a rift in her family when she quit a job her father help get her.

5 stars of Colleen Charles awesomeness - Drunk players & Costco absolutely hilarious
Colleen Charles you keep knocking it out of the park with this series. Kingsley & Cash's story is a fantastic addition. There is just something about the author's writing style that had me completely immersed from page 1. Their story will tug at your heart strings but will also give you plenty of LOL moments. I had an absolute blast reading this book & can't wait for the next one in the series.

I've read a few books by the author now and I have enjoyed them all but this might be my favourite for 2 reasons. 1. the llama scene. 2. The pickle seller scene. Both were hilarious and not what I was expecting at the time!
The characters were all really likeable and the story kept me interested throughout as it doesn't always quite flow as you'd expect. As before I'm keen to read more about the other guys playing for the Venom so will definitely look out for more books in the series.

Love Cash! Cash is a hockey player that gets hurt and has to see a specialist. Kingsley is the specialist. Well let’s say things are going great as far as they are concerned but Kingsley long lost family (family issues) might see it differently and some of the stuff I found out about Cash in this story I didn’t see coming from his friends books. Great story don’t want to give anything away but wow. I think Cash is my favorite character as far as the hockey team goes. Oh I did tell you it was a hockey story right… lol and a hot one too. #love#arc
In Vegas. Yeah. Just go with it… Cash is pushing forty. He’s a hockey player about to retire. He’s grumpy and past his wild player days. He’s looking for substance. But is immediately smitten by pretty.
Kingsley chose to go to Vegas and do music instead of what her pops wanted her to do. She’s much younger than Cash and more artsy. They meet in Costco…I kid you not, a chicken was involved.
I liked the book and can recommend, even if I keep snickering over the title because I have a mind in the gutter.
I love this series and now we finally get Cash's story and find out why he is a man of few words. This book had me cracking up right from the start (drunken Costco trip anyone?...LOL) and had me hooked right till the end. If you have not started this series yet I suggest you start. You dont NEED to read it in order but it helps to get to know the team as they make appearances and will just help to give context to whats going on.

“It feels like I’ve been waiting for you forever.”
Very low angst, almost sweet, slow burn story about Vegas Venom right wing Cash Hale and his vocal therapist, Kingsley St. James. Like the other books in the series there is both humor and heart blended in as Cash and Kingsley fall in love. Lots of fun appearances by other Venom players and their women and we even get to see Marco and Madison’s wedding. I think my favorite character was Kingsley’s bff, Delilah and I can’t help but hope we get to see her again in the future.
I loved this series...the only miss step in the series deals with NHL contracts. They are 100% guaranteed from the date of signing...so no way could Dante cancel Marco or Cash's contracts. They can waive a player down to the AHL...but they still have to pay them and Cash couldn't have turned down the team who picked him up on waivers. That issue drove me nuts...as a hockey Uber fan (and attorney). That said, the romance was amazing, the emotions real, and novels made me laugh and cry....
These Venom men just keep getting better and I loved Cash! We have seen him in previous books in the series, but he's always been a man of few words. Now that Marco has found love, Cash finds a new roommate in rookie Ranger. Ranger is pretty confident as a rookie but after injuring himself during freak accident at practice, Cash finds himself speechless and off to a medical professional. Imagine Cash's surprise when his speech pathologist is the beautiful woman from Costco that he can't get out of his mind. Sparks fly quickly and brightly for these two and I LOVE the way Kingsley inspires Cash to speak his mind. A misunderstanding or omission of information from both puts them in a position of distrust that they have to work through but even that is pretty smooth since they both are mature when it comes to communication and their relationship Some of my biggest laughs came from the scenes of the five drunk hockey players wandering around Costco in search of the rotisserie chicken and having to fight off the women waiting for them to come out of the oven. I also really enjoyed the friendship Cash had with Ranger, it's like a light bulb went off and he realized that he wasn't just a pit stop to new players, but a true mentor. This was especially evident in his toast at Marco's wedding. Great addition to the Venom series!
