Fun, fast read. Nothing terribly substantial, but nothing that violates the spirit of Carolyn Keene either (and yes, I know that's a pen name and yes, I know this was licensed, so obvi.)
I think this was a good book. It showed how to use your skills to find out why something is happening. If you like detective books or tv shows I think this was a good book for.
Nancy Drew, along with her pals Bess and George, solve a mystery involving a Bio Dome in River Heights! Graphic novel.....A little difficult to follow!
Nancy Drew and her friends Bess and George have been invited to tour the new Bio-Dome Eco-Park prior to its grand opening. Carson Drew, Nancy’s father, is the lawyer for Cheri Goale, the inventor behind the new park. As Nancy and her friends are enjoying the tour, Nancy recognizes a man that she once came into contact with on a prior case. Thinking the man is still up to no good, Nancy decides to keep a close eye on him. When a substance causes one of the domes to collapse, Nancy is positive she knows the culprit. Can she solve the mystery in time to save the remaining domes?
This book was a great surprise to learn about and see that Nancy Drew was carrying on as a graphic novel now. While I wasn't too keen on the art style, I still sucked it up and enjoyed it. The story was good, but Nancy was a bonehead! She was so absent minded and forgetful, this was nothing like the real Nancy Drew in the main series. I was disappointed about that, but it was still a fun read. One other thing I am wondering about is where the heck is Helen Corning? Nancy seems to only be hanging out with Bess and George now. Don't get me wrong, I like Bess and George, but I liked Helen too.
I didn't like this one as much; the setting (a cluster of bio-domes) and antagonists seemed pretty far-fetched, and the environmentalist messages were particularly anvil-licious, as Television Without Pity might say. (I generally like environmentalism, but not when it's this over the top.) Also the perils were a bit more dangerous than I felt comfortable with. Of course, Your Mileage May Vary.
