Ghosts: Adrian's March Part Five

Rate this book
A weary Adrian Ring continues his dangerous push to find the missing members of the mythical second Trinity—saviors of mankind from the judgment of the undead. He’s fought those monsters for years now, facing off against unthinkable threats and challenges to his own safety, and sanity, and thus far, he’s prevailed. Others around him haven’t been so lucky, but that seems to be his curse.

Now, as he and his precious friends foray north into the heart of England to find Hal Parker’s dad, and search for survivors, they will encounter threats they’ve never dealt with before.

And worse yet, while they battle against faster, and smarter armies of the dead, and the wraiths of evil that now walk amongst them, a greater threat slips through the cracks, and joins them.

There will be death. There will be destruction. The darkness will shun out hope as it nears a final victory.
And yet Adrian will meet a new light, Erin Locke—a beacon in the darkness—and his encounter with her will change him for the better, and alter the course of humanity’s grim fate.

With major contributions from Carl Meadows, author of Lockey vs, The Apocalypse, an Adrian’s Undead Diary series.

Ghosts contains Adrian’s personal journal entries from November 28th, 2014 to January 1st, 2015. Intermixed with those diary entries are the short A Mother’s Love, Be Someone Special, Bring Me That Horizon, Sabotage, The Paladin, and Now You See Me.

The dying of the boat

Two things. A paranoid captain in a forgotten port would have had Master at Arms and the ships Marine detail set to guard all the critical spaces on the ship. The Bridge, CIC and Engineer Room would have had an armed guard as would the helo since one was already posted earlier in the story.
The later too the spaces before decks says to steep for zombies to do anything but fall down alerting everyone in that space that someone just fell 8-10 feet to a steel deck. Secured spaces like Fire Control would be locked with a keypad. Zombies aren't getting past that. Finally water tight doors. A ship tied to a pier is still moving enough to cause a water tight door to flex. It takes 6-8 individual dogs to secure a water tight door. Some of them take two hands and elbow grease to get them open and closed. Zombies aren't navigating closed water tight doors.

outstanding!

Chris and Carl, this book makes me so very happy (and pissed)!!! What a seamless weaving of the stories and characters. The conversations between the group leaders was everything I would wish for it to be and more. I love the new vastness of the world and how big the scale has been made. I CANNOT WAIT for the next entry, cause that cliffhanger is NOT COOL!!! There were a few moments when I was like there’s no way Chris will do that, will he? Will he!!??? Ugh, bring on the next one, mates!

(reviewing the entire series up to this book) Written in first person in a very entertaining tone that's not used very often. The self dialogue keeps me reading, and it's masculine without trying to be overly so. It's not compensating for anything. It's just being. It just is.

It introduces characters in a very fast pace and I struggle to keep up with the side characters. A lot of the story starts based around the fact that the character happens to know how to survive and also has access to resources.

The slight and gradual shift to the supernatural and religious was different, and set it apart from the other zombie series and books. It didn't have any figures or beings that were well known, the author either researched for these figures or made it up himself. The connection to the native African people and what they believe about the living was a really nice touch, given that zombies are between life and death. A unique take overall, not just a virus infection or something in the air.

I rated each book 4 stars but I personally would rate the series 3 stars overall. It's not exactly to my taste, and I think the target audience is not exactly me. It also focuses less on studying zombie behaviour, which is what I'm mostly interested in.

Philbrook has once again given us an emotionally charged, character driven tale of surviving an apocalypse. Adrian and others from his original group plus more fellow surviving friends are over in Europe (England, Germany) to find family and other survivors. This one is a real tearjerker with many heartbreaking losses. I highly recommend this book, series and tissues to any fan of the zombie/horror genres.

Amazing!

Who would have thought that book 13 would be so incredible? This book exceeded all my expectations. I’d love the AUD world! Follow the fight between good and evil to decide the fate of humanity. My only suggestion is to go back and start at book one if you’ve not read any of these. One of the most incredible series ever.

I am in shock! A wonderful chapter in the series

This series is terrific. I have followed it from its inception and have yet to be disappointed.
The entire book had me hooked from the beginning. I have smiled and cried all in the space if a few entries. I can't wait for more...tap....tap....tap.

I love the story, love seeing Adrian and his gang back in action, but the horde of typos were nearly overwhelming this time. Other than that it is the same fast pace and intriguing characters we've come to expect from the AUD. The ending made want to scream, but that just shows how well Mr. Philbrook can play with your emotions.

Epic read!

How to tell a would be reader to in fact read this book (series) without giving anything away. Get ready for the ride of your life and know that each pause will leave you shocked and needing more asap. I hope the writing fairy is kind and allows Chris to write like it will save his life!

AWESOME SAUCE

I just can’t get enough of this series! I’m finally all caught up and feel lost without the next book to read!! I literally open the book and it seems like the next thing I know, it’s over. I’m so glad that I accidentally bought the first book because MAN it has been a fantastic crazy exhilarating ride!!
