Phil Bayly knows how to tell a story. Witch Window has a complex plot with enough subplots and twists to keep the pages turning. It's also full of local and historical details of New York State's Capital District region and neighboring Vermont. I learned so much about the area I recently began calling home. I'm a former TV reporter, so Bayly's main character, JC Snow, and his job as a TV reporter appeal to me, although not his bad boy jokes. Luckily, JC's girlfriend, Robin, rolls her eyes when JC and his photographer, BIP, go too far. By the last page, I was rolling my eyes at JC too. The three of them work as a team and with the police to track down a murderer. JC even sheds his tough veneer by the end of Witch Window, which was a nice touch. I look forward to his next murderous adventure. If you haven't read any of these Murder on Skis Mysteries, start now and catch up!
