On the run from her old pack, Maggie heads off on a cross-country trip.
No road trip would be complete without road trip buddies, and Maggie has an interesting combination for company.
Who better to hit the open road with than a vampire, his estranged son, a no-nonsense mer, and the disembodied twin who’s taken up residence in her brain?
Maggie’s not great at doing nothing, and sightseeing is too dangerous, so when a job comes up, she jumps at the chance to relieve her boredom.
Retrieve a family heirloom from a crypt. Easy, right?
Except both the heirloom and the crypt appear to be, in technical terms, mega-haunted.
Also, the current patriarch of the family might have figured out more of Maggie’s secrets than she wanted to share, and things with Cole are not going well.

This episode of Maggie and Matt’s lives caught me entirely by surprise in almost every way.
That we learn so much more about their world and the scope of possibilities that lie therein is almost incidental in the course of the storyline. The way Norcross writes is simply gorgeous (it’s the Only appropriate word that comes to mind).
She weaves all the necessary, information and world building into conversations and other elements of the story, but it’s done with no detail or background. The story is told as if the reader already knows all the “details” of this world. It never feels like she’s “telling” us how things work.
The changes in Maggie and Matt’s life are both larger and smaller than I expected. Some developments near the end shocked me, and the final two elements of the book, a letter and a text blew me out of the water.
This is a great one folks! I will confess, I actually went back and read the series to get all the details set in my mind before reading this one. It was a great idea. There’s just so much story here that I had lost some of the most awesome details. So do yourself a favor and read the set
Maggie and her friends go ghost hunting in a mausoleum and meet up with a powerful entity, at the same time something is going on with Cole and she is afraid he is turning to the dark side. I really enjoyed the new characters introduced in this book and also the storyline. Maggie has some hard decisions to make after the things she found out and I am looking forward to see what she decides to do.
There is far more discussion of lore in this book than actual storytelling. I don’t need nonstop action, but this book had me ready to quit the series. Wasn’t a huge fan of the last book in the series either.
Hopefully #6 is better. Getting through #5 was a serious chore.
Wonderful and enjoyable series, always intriguing!!!!
Congratulations to Phillipa Norcross and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such intexresting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
Really enjoyed this book! Characters are spot on and plot takes lots of magical turns. Very inventive plot twists. Ending a total Surprise! Please read this fun tome.
