It's Always Been You

Love is quickly becoming my least favorite four-letter word.

I let a girl into my heart once, and she nearly destroyed me.

The last time I saw her she was in the back seat of her father’s car, leaving me forever.

No goodbye.

No mercy.

That was ten years ago.

Now the sexy vixen from my past is back in town looking to hire a consultant.

This is my way back in.

But not for redemption or a second chance.

For sticky-sweet vengeance.

Her business is the most important thing to her, and I can vengeance—or waste her time trying.

If she doesn’t take me down first with curves that make me pace the floor at night.

But everything changes when I meet him.

Her ten-year-old son.

I believe in coincidences, but this is too much.

He has my eyes and my middle name, but she swears I’m not the father.

Trusting her means dropping walls I’ve spent a decade building trying to keep her out.

Unfortunately for me?

It’s always been her.

Didn't Flow Well, Annoying

This book had an interesting premise that kept me reading even though I got really annoyed with it towards the beginning. It's well written and edited but it just didn't Flow right or connect all the dots. The femaje character was not relatable or very likable. She's a spoiled rich daddy's girl who let her dad pack her off overnight to another country to get her away from the supposed love of her life. She had just graduated and was an adult not a child. He didn't threaten or force her, she just went and kept her baby away from his father (who had never once treated her badly) for ten yrs. She supposedly never thought to call him or even check up on him through social media. Then she moves back (when her daddy decides it's time, not her) and still doesn't try to contact or at least check on the father of her child until he comes to work for her. She then proceeds to lie to his face about the child and then watch her dad and uncles throw him out and beat him up. This is not a sympathetic or relatable character. I hate to say it but a male author has trouble writing women that other women like and feel connected to. Also hated how she kept calling her son "kiddo" just really annoying.
Last comment, was this supposed to be a "Grease" theme with Danny (the greaser), Sandy, and her friend Frenchie? Doesn't really make sense to me.

At the heart of this book is a second chance, which I absolutely adored. But, it also contains one of the themes I really don’t enjoy, and that left me a little off-kilter in my reactions. However, Sandy and Danny were giving me all kinds of grown-up Grease vibes. Once the names clicked, I could see some parallels. Daniel pretty much stole my heart from the first moment we met him. Even when he was having his more jerk-like moments, there was still something kind of vulnerable and endearing that drew me in. Sandy had me yo-yoing back and forth in my opinion. She’s a fierce mama-bear, and I admired everything about that trait – except when it was being used to hurt Daniel. It was easy to recognize what drove her decisions, I just couldn’t always agree with them. In the end, though, I closed this book with the biggest, silliest, sappiest grin on my face. I kind of hate letting go of these characters now and I’m almost hoping for a book about the second couple that gets paired up in the end, just so we can come back and visit again.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

I like the dual POV so we're able to hear both sides of Daniel and Sandy's story. Young love separated by a over protective father. No shortage of drama or angst. A little revenge, A secret baby and explosive chemistry This book has it all and once you start reading you won't be able to put it down. Well written and entertaining. You'll love Sandy and Daniel's story and the happy ending. I Read an Advance Reader Copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion.

I fell in love with Sandy and Danny's story. They fell in love so young and things happened that they were apart for 10 years. Sandy is looking to hire someone at her company and Daniel goes in to get his revenge on her for just leaving 10 years ago. There are secrets that come to light nad they ultimitly get their second chance. I'm not giving away any details, you will have to read it for yourself and find out! It is a fairly quick read but worth it!

POS weak female main Character

Yeah I hated this secret baby trope. She was weak let her father run her life and never told him about the baby. No good reason, just didn’t tell him. Rich people suck and he should have seen her for the POS she was.

Second chance ten years later

Sandy Davenworth, CEO of Nice Company, is in need of consultant. She needs to help her company to do better in all aspects.
She looked through the resumes and found Daniel Lowe was the best in the field.
Unfortunately, he is part of her past. They went out in high school and were lovers. After high school graduation, her family moved to London. She never told him goodbye.
Ten years later, he didn't know she was back. By pure accident, he found out she had a son. She didn't want to tell him that Brooks is his son.
She had to bring him to work one day because her father was mad at her for hiring Daniel as a consultant. He felt he was from the wrong side of the tracks. When Daniel was well known in his field. Daniel asked if it was bringing your kid to work day?
Brooks introduced himself to Daniel. He shared about his game. Also, how old he was.
It didn't take much to figure out the math. But Sandy wouldn't admit that Brooke was his. When Jesse, Daniel's brother, got shot in the line of duty, Sandy went to the hospital to be with him. The next morning after surgery, Jesse confronted her. He wanted to know if Brooks was Daniel son. He wanted her to tell Daniel or he would.
She finally got a chance to be alone with Daniel and explained why she left ten years ago. Explained why she didn't tell her son.
He was angry but understood why she was afraid to tell their son. The next day, she told Brooks. He was happy he had a dad, but he wasn't sure what to do with the info.
Daniel and Brooks decided they would take one day at a time.
They hope that Brooks will accept having a dad in his life. Sandy and Daniel have reconnected as a couple. Their love has not waned.
Another great story by Jacob Parker. Love your strong characters and how they work at getting back together.

This is a Second Chance Romance and it is Daniel and Sandy's story and it is definitely a must read. Sandy and Daniel have history as they had been so in love only for Sandy's dad to move her away without giving her time to say goodbye to Daniel and now ten year's later and they meet again but things are even more complicated when she needs a consultant and Daniel applied for the position and then he finds out that Sandy has a son turning everything on it's head. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions with everything that Daniel and Sandy had gone through in there lives and I felt like I was there living through all there pain with them and even though they hadn't seen each other for all those year's there connection and chemistry was still as strong and intense as ever but with all the ups and downs and push and pull along the way they are still perfect for each other and I found myself hoping that they could sort out all there differences, problems and trust issue's and eventually get the happy ending that they both deserve and become a family. I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put this book down as the storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout and it was so well written and totally addictive that I read it in one sitting. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

Yea to Second Chances!

Sandy is a mother to Brooke, they have a good life but she has a secret that she is holding back from him.Daniel is a consultant who wants pay back from from all those years ago when she suddenly left ,not telling him why,no good bye ,no letters,no calls! But little by little his plan changes,he does consult with her and tries to come up with a plan that they both agree on but he isn't out for vengeance now .She is still trying hide Brooke from Danny but it gets harder and harder and now his brother Jesse thinks Danny has a son.Danny and Sandy are getting closer again until Danny ruins it by going to met her father and things get worse, her father still thinks Danny isn't any better for his daughter than ten years ago and so it causes a slip until his brother Jesse gets in a life or death accident and she rushes to Danny's side regardless if it ticks off her father or not.All is well with Jesse but he has a talk with Sandy,he doesn't want her to break his brother's heart again and if she doesn't tell Danny about Brooke he will.He spills the beans before she can,it causes hurt feelings, mistrust. Now they have a setback that they might not come back. This story has alot of ups and downs but it makes the characters stronger, families learn from trusting each other, communicate and letting past be in the past.Very good ending!

Lovers to Enemies to Lovers Again

How cute that the names of the main characters are Danny and Sandy?

Sandy and Danny were high school sweethearts. The day after her graduation, she left for London with her parents, never talking to Danny again. Little does he know, she was pregnant at the time. She stays in London with her parents and a small boy named Brooks. Of course she named him after Danny (Brooks is his middle name), never forgetting him or that she really loved him back in High School.

Danny is still hurt that she left without saying goodbye. And now he's even more angry that she's back in town. The only thing he can think of is to destroy her company. He takes a job as a consultant and wants to hurt her as much as she hurt him. Until he sees that little boy of hers. That little boy named Brooks.

I love the way Jacob Parker creates these worlds. This story was a little different from his other stories, but it still had his voice in every character. One thing that was different - what happens after the HEA? Jacob rites that part of the story and you see how a family comes together. Great job!

Ten years ago broke not one heart but two. Danny was the boy from the wrong side of town and Sandy was from wealth and privilege but they clicked together...two lines too well. The last Danny seen of Sandy she was being driven away with her parents. Now ten years later he's just the consultant her company needs to flourish. Revenge for a broken heart seems fitting until old feelings of love resurface. One roadblock to that revenge is Sandy has a son, could he be Danny's, he has Danny's middle name after all. Sandy didn't want to leave Danny all those years ago, but how can she tell him why they left?? Throw in an over protective father that thinks nobody is good enough for his daughter, secrets revealed, an awesome best friend, and an exceptional ten year old son and you have a great story. I love the his/ her POV, no cliffhanger, no cheating and a great HEA for this family of three . I recommend this MUST READ from Jacob Parker!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Great job Jacob!!! Looking forward to the next book.

Daniel & Sandy were high school sweethearts, but because her dad didn’t approve of Daniel, they kept it secret. Then one morning Daniel sees Sandy get into the back seat of her father’s car and disappears. No explanation, no goodbye. Ten years later she’s back and looking for a consultant to help save her company. Daniel has the qualifications and is the best candidate for the job so she hires him. He's out for vengeance and she needs his help. What he doesn’t know is she has a 10-year-old son, and he’s Daniels. As their romance begins to rekindle, he finds out she’s still kept Brooks a secret. Can Daniel recover and forgive her again? Fortunately, he can, and they begin to figure out how to tell Brooks Daniel is his father. The closer I got to the end of this story, the more I was cheering for them both to overcome their fears and hurt and come together for their happy ever after. This is a quick, fun read to curl up with on a chilly fall day!

This is a true romance. A second chance at love and happiness. High school sweethearts who were torn apart. “Our love story might have some hiccups and road bumps within its future pages, but the worst was behind us.”

Daniel was content with his life. He owned his own consulting company. His company had been slammed for the last month, so why was his brother showing him a job listing? As he looked at the computer, he was staring at the one woman he ever loved. What was she doing back in town?

Sandy was looking for a consultant to help her company. “Her company wasn’t in trouble exactly, but she had an opportunity to streamline things, make some changes, and get things aligned better with her values.” She has been interviewing for weeks, but nobody has sparked her interest. She hoped that changed today. She entered her office and his back was to her. When he turned around, she nearly fell over. What is he doing in my office?

Second chance romance told from a dual POV. Enjoyed this as both leads felt like real people – they were flawed, made mistakes and made fools of themselves at times. Thought Sandy was quite selfish at first for hiding her secret for so long, but she believed she was doing it for the right reasons and continually showed that she was a good parent. Danny was an interesting complex character, his back story was really moving without being gratuitous. Especially liked the first scene when they reconnected, it was well written and could totally feel the tension between them. Loved following them as their old feelings resurfaced, wondering if they’d ever be able to overcome everything that had gone before to reach their hea. Good Book

I really enjoyed this second chance at romance and secret baby story of Daniel & Sandy.
They were in love from the age of 16 but one day her family moved away without her saying goodbye.
Fast forward 10 years and Sandy is back in town running her own successful business and has a 10 year old son Brooks.
I did think Sandy was very selfish for hiding Brooks from Daniel and to be fair he should have been more angry than he really was.
I also liked Jesse & Frenchy’s characters as they seemed the fun brother and BFF but I adored Brooks he was such a great little character.
This follows them seeing if Brooks can accept Daniel as his Dad and if Sandy & Daniel actually can have a future together and as a family.
It’s told from both characters POV and I really enjoyed it.

DNF @ 24%

The characters irritated the fuck out of me.

The secret baby trope was already a black mark against Sandy because I'm fed up with this trope but I was hoping that she'd have a personality I would like. Nope. She didn't.

And there's Danny - excuse me, Daniel - who rubbed me the wrong way from the start. He's so obnoxiously smug and arrogant that I really wanted Sandy to take him down a peg or two... or five.

And then there's the "best friend" Frenchy. What kind of name is that? How can she be a good friend when she easily blurted out a secret told to her in confidence by Sandy and all she did is make excuses about her being tipsy. Like fuck. I hate the "ooops, sorry" attitude she has when she does something she knows Sandy wouldn't like and she still does it anyway. Ugh.

I really enjoyed this book. It had heartbreak, a plan for revenge, secrets/lies, and young love that never really went away.

I appreciated Danny and Jesse’s relationship and how close they were, especially after everything they’d been through. I liked Sandy and Brooks was adorable. Norman, however, was not a character that I found easy to like. He was selfish and horrid!

I wasn’t a fan of how quickly Norman went from being a dismissive snob to Danny to showing up at his house to apologize. I did, however, love that the author didn’t dismiss the struggles that families face and, in fact, highlighted how important therapy can be.

This book was a second chance, hidden secret book, and a minimal enemies-to-lovers. You will have multiple feelings throughout this book. It was realistic and relatable, well written and lots of charged chemistry.

I loved that even after all the years apart, Danny and Sandy both still felt strongly for each other. I loved that Sandy gave Danny his space when he found out her secret, but she didn’t try to push him away and be overprotective. I love that Danny had loyalty for days and knew when he needed to apologize to the people he wronged and wasn’t a jerk about it. I loved the relationship he had with his brother, and the relationship he grew with Sandy and Brooks.

I hope that we get Jesse’s story as well and see if he ends up with Francesca.

Beautifully written second chance romance for former high school sweethearts.
Danny and Sandy were high school sweethearts but they kept it a secret from her dad who wouldn’t approve because Danny wasn’t up to his standards. When he sees Sandy leaving on day to never return, he is crushed. Now 10 years later she is back in town and looking for a consultant to help her save her job. Well Danny is happy to oblige but it’s not because he wants to get back together it is strictly for revenge.
Man, Jacob did a wonderful job with this story. I found myself having a hard time putting it down. Great storyline wonderful characters and a small secret. Will Danny find it in his heart to forgive Sandy.

It’s Always Been You is a second chance romance that follows business consultant Daniel Brooks Lowe and small business owner Sandy Davenworth and her ten year old son Brooks. Daniel and Sandy were dating in high school when one day Sandy’s father decided to move, not giving Sandy time to say goodbye to Daniel and her friends. Fast forward ten years and Daniel discovers that she is back in town, looking for a consultant to help with her business, and a plan of revenge forms in Daniel’s mind. But when Daniel meets her son Brooks, who looks a lot like him, can it merely be a coincidence? Will Daniel discover the truth before he seeks his revenge? Or will it be too late to fix the past mistakes and move forward together?

3.5 I really did enjoy the book, but I found it completely unrealistic how fast Danny was able to move on from Sandy keeping their son from him for 10 years. I don’t know a human being on planet Earth that would be OK a week after finding out that someone kept their child from them. He was rather forgiving. I found that to be so unrealistic that it was somewhat hard to move past it. Additionally, I felt that they moved past the father‘s treatment of him rather quickly given the ramifications of his judgmental pressures. Overall, the book was sweet and enjoyable, but I found it to be terribly unrealistic. People don’t move past having their child be kept from them for 10 years so quickly no matter how in love they are with those people.

I enjoyed the story about Daniel and Sandy as well as her son Brooks.

High school sweethearts suddenly separated when Sandy's Dad found out she was pregnant and they left Newport for London for 10 years.
Fast forward to her return to Newport with her 10-year old son Brooks and she developes a thriving mail order business. Daniel arranges an interview as a consultant to her. Secrets kept come out as they can't keep the other out of their thoughts. Can they ever get their HEA? Will Brooks ever know of his existence? Great fast-paced read with family drama mixed in. Loved the book Jacob!

Wrong sides of the track

Daniel is from the wrong side of the tracks according to Sandy’s father. He grew up poor with a mom that worked three jobs to make ends meet for him and his younger brother. When he realized how hard she worked, Daniel found a job at the local country club, where he met Sandy. They had a great few years together, until she and her family left without a word.

Sandy’s family left because she was pregnant with Daniel’s baby and her father wanted to save face. Ten years later they’re back, but Daniel doesn’t know he has a son. Sandy has a decision to make, tell Daniel and her son or keep quiet.

This is a well written second chance romance between Danny and Sandy. Once high school sweethearts, he was the bad boy from the wrong side of town and she the upper class, he just disappears. Ten years later she hires him to consult and try to save her company. The author does a great job developing the story and kept me reading with all the drama and hurts as well as the secret between them. The chemistry is still there but can they get over the hurt and find forgiveness? The story moves fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and is an enjoyable read.

Another chance was the as one thing Daniel never thought he’d get with his high school girlfriend, Sandy. But she’s back in town and looking for a consultant to help grow her company. It just so happens that is what Daniel dies best. It’s been ten long years since Sandy’s family up and moved suddenly to England! Without so much as a goodbye!
He’s held a grudge all these years. But now that they are face to face all bets are off!
But Sandy is keeping secrets! Can they get past them and fulfill their teenage dreams?
A beautifully written second chance love story!

IT'S ALWAYS BEEN YOU A Single Mom Secret Baby Novel by Jacob Parker
This is a second chance, enemies to lovers romance. Not to forget about the secret child. At eighteen Sandy was up and moved to London by her parents leaving without a word to her boyfriend Danny. Ten years later, Sandy is back, the CEO of her own company and with a young son. Sandy is needing a business consultant, her former flame, Daniel comes in and is the best candidate for the job, in spite of her wanting to hire anyone else but him. This is a solid well written story with lots of tension, emotion and chemistry. This is 5 stars.
Jacob! The secondary characters Jesse and Frenchy need a book!

Wowsa this book was absolutely fantastic and had me so engrossed from the beginning until the end and the storyline flowed throughout the book and you will definitely fall in love with the characters and their story. Daniel Brooks Lowe was working with Sandy Davenports father and company and dating her ,but her father wasn't very Happy with Him so he had ended up giving his daughter an ultimatum and now that she was pregnant with his child she knew she had to go to Paris and live .now 10 years later she's back and running her fathers company but when Daniel shows up for a job will her secret come out? Great story!

I know, if I need a Hallmark-ish book, I just need to pick one by the Parker family.
This time I picked one by Jacob.

Yes, it's all about cliché, that's what makes it so Hallmark-ish 😉

I loved Sandy. She definitely didn't have it easy. Some might think she just had to stand up for herself, but I don't think it was easy in this situation. So she just listened to her dad...

Daniel is 🔥 He's a dirty, dirty guy 😎 But his past... It made me so sad.

I had a lot of different feelings while reading the book. It was funny. It was sad. I got angry. But in the end it was so cute 🥰

I received a free copy of the steamy seasonally set Newport Beach novel It’s Always Been You: A Single Mom Secret Baby Novel by Jacob Parker and this review was given freely.

Full of family drama.

Ten years after his high school girlfriend suddenly leaves and breaks all ties, business fixer Daniel Brooks Lowe sets out to financially hurt Nile e-commerce site owner, Sandy Davenworth, but his plans change when he learns her ten-year-old son Brooks is named after him. Drama arises in the form of a steamy attraction, an angry protective father, and a near death.
