Wildlife photographer Davinda Jackson thinks she's seen everything...until the polar bear she's taking pictures of turns into a man right in front of her. Thrown heart-first into a world of shifters she never imagined existed,in a small town she only meant to visit, Davinda's livelihood is threatened when her camera is stolen—but far more is at stake than just one camera. Polar bear shifter Isaiah Moses is fiercely dedicated to protecting Shkalnik's rural Alaskan beauty from explotation and overdevelopment—but his personal secrets could be the ruin of Isaiah...and every shifter in Shkalnik. Davinda and Isaiah may have to risk everything to save Shkalnik—everything but the love they've found in each other.
The author’s skills have leveled up significantly since the first book, and it shows. The story is great, the mythology and world-building are just enough to be compelling, and the romance is spot on. Great read!
This book was THE perfect low-stakes, comfort fluff to read after The Heart Principle. I've been hoping Ms Lawless would return to her Alaskan shifter romances and I'm so glad we got the sequel to Raven Heart (and as a special treat, we got confirmation that they're officially set in the same world as her Zoe Chant Virtue Shifter books, which makes me disproportionately happy).
I loved that Richard and Elena showed up in this book and we got to spend more time with them, but it was still very much Isaiah and Davi's book, and the warmth and banter flowed thick and fast between them (and that sounded much less dodgy in my head before I wrote it)
A definite 5-star read for me, and I really hope we get more in this series.
A good dose of Alaskan beauty, a CHARMING and a little clumsy polar bear meeting his mate after romping down a hillside? Full of mixed metaphors and people dedicated to keeping small town life alive, this book is delightful and sweet. Our heroine, a smart, brilliant nature photographer learns and loves quickly as she helps her mate catch a thief and keep the local shifter community hidden. You will be smiling all the way to the end.
This is the second book in this series. It was great to be back in this world again. The world building is amazing, the setting fantstic, and the characters so well written. I loved Davinda and Isaiah together and it was great to see Elena and Richard from the first book too. Hopefully one day there will be more to this series
So nice to find a romance with characters that are so well written they can be a friend. Really cool to have some Alaskan culture in a book too! I want to go visit this town!
