Underboss's Retaliation

Rate this book
I’m a ruthless criminal with a score to settle. She’s the perfect pawn in a sinful world. Keeping her safe was never really the plan. Especially from me.

Born Dominic Larussio, people call me merciless and cruel. As underboss to the savage Italian Crime Family, it is my job to make sure our enemies suffer in the most brutal of ways.
Emelia, our rival’s daughter, was a surprise, a precious flower too delicate to leave behind in a bloodthirsty attack. The minute she gazed at me with those deep Jade eyes, her destiny in the brutal world of mafia evil was never going to be the same.

My responsibility should be easy. Get the information we need or turn her over to the boss and wipe her from my mind.

But the beautiful hellcat has surprises of her own…

When she finds out what I’ve done, it alters the course of everything and sets us on a deadly game to maintain power over the criminal underground.

When our families learn the truth and the last hand has been played, it’s up to me to ensure I win the prize or lose her forever in the fight of my life.

UnderBoss’s Retaliation is the explosive second book in the Sicilian Gods series by Via Mari. It is a deliciously dark, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, Dark Mafia Protector Romance. You will love these novels where the passion is fiery, the loyalty is fierce, and the stakes are high. Each book is a standalone that focuses on different couples in each book, and all have a happily ever after.

Dominic and Emilia come from rival families.
Their journey had a lot of action and suspense.

As in the previous part, there were also repetitions in this one as well.

The ending was abrupt and there was no epilogue.

Dominic Larussio is the underboss for the Larussio's. When their rival and enemy attacks, they retaliate. Emelia De Rosa is going to be the pawn to get control of the situation. Dominic had not planned on the feisty woman who quickly becoming an infatuation. Can two enemies find a way to stay together while a war between families continues to erupt?

Another fantastic book in this series. You think the story is going one way and then there is a turn. Edge of your seat suspense and romance rolled into one. If you like mafia stories this is definitely a series to pick up.

Dominic Larussio is the underboss, the second in command within the Larussio family and that honour comes with a lot of responsibilities, he is the right hand man of the boss and is as loyal as they come, not to mention ruthless, he takes no prisoners, ever. Emelia De Rosa is a Mafia princess within a ruthless family, but like a lot of the other women in these families, she is kept out of the loop and doesn’t know much about the family business, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to protect herself.

Revenge and retaliation are the hallmarks of the Larussio name and anyone caught in the crossfire has to know which side they are on, but as Dominic hunts down a Mafia princess in her own home, he has a plan in mind to find her and get the information he is after. However, when he finds Emelia in a secret passage, she is more to handle than he expects, she fights for her life and doesn’t give in no matter what situation she finds herself in. In the end, Dominic has to make a decision whether to hand her over to the boss, or keep her safe and away from the bloodshed surrounding her, especially when she sees it first hand.

As soon as their eyes lock, Dominic and Emelia know that something in their world will change and Dominic decides her safety is the most important thing and Emelia, knowing what it will cost cannot keep her mind or hands off of him. Things are never smooth sailing in the world of the Mafia, so when further revenge is sought and new hands are played, a dangerous game of cat and mouse ensues, but unbeknownst to Emelia, what she thought she saw turned out to be a lie, so as soon as she is able, she runs, but what will the consequences of her actions be?

Will Dominic be able to put his plan into action before all hell breaks loose, or will the princess shove a spanner in the works and being everything he has worked towards crashing down around them? This is a dark Mafia romance with plenty of action throughout, it is suspenseful and spicy, with more than a hint of tenacity included and a story which will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Dominic is on high alert from the attack at the casino and when Salvatore issues the order to go and seek revenge he is more than happy to attack De Rosa’s house and grab the only thing that is dear to De Rosa’s heart his daughter as a bargaining chip, but all hell breaks loose and he has his hands full.

Emelia has been taught well for this day, as a mafia princess she knows that she is always on alert and can easily be taken to use against the family, so when she was hiding in the tunnels trying to not to be found but when the dark eyes meet hers, she is in trouble.

Dominic has Emelia as a pawn in this game of power but she is not easy, a hellcat who is trying to escape at every turn but something shifts and Dom starts being drawn to Emelia knowing that the relationship is forbidden and could get them both killed. Can they keep what they have hidden long enough so Dom and Emelia explain.

I loved the first book in this series and this book does not disappoint, the story picks up just after the first book ends and the families are at war with each other. I love the character of Emelia as she is cast at first as the helpless Mafia Princess but as the story goes on you get to see the sheer determination of her character and the strong female role model you want in a book like this. She is equal to Dom and he treats her with the respect as an equal also which is wonderful to read.

The story is full of revelations of both families and how the next generation of the Larussio’s are planning to lead the family. The chemistry between the two jumps off the page and is a great dynamic to read through the adventures of both, with a twist at the end I could not stop reading this book and read it in one sitting.

I can’t wait for Lorenzo’s story as he is a quiet character in the other books, I have a feeling he is deadly under the covers.

Dominic Larussio is the underboss for a vicious Italian Mob Family. Enemies of the Italian Mob Family will suffer in the most brutal ways at his hands and he has a reputation for showing no mercy to their enemies while settling scores. When a rival Italian Mob Family wages war against the Larussio family Dominic kidnaps their daughter, Emelia, so that he can obtain information from her about her family. What he does not expect is to find himself attracted to her and feel the desire to keep her safe.

Emelia is not the delicate little flower that Dominic expected and instead turns out to be full of surprises of her own. She can stand her own ground and puts up a fight that Dominic is not prepared for. Emelia also finds herself attracted to Dominic and tries to fight her feelings. Against their better judgement Dominic and Emelia find themselves in a relationship that they must keep secret from both of their rival families.

A war between rival mob families turns into an unexpected romance between members of each family as enemies turn into lovers. I found this to be an interesting twist on how love can suddenly come at the most unlikely time. The characters were well written, and the story was crafted beautifully with vivid descriptions that made me feel as though I was there with them as the action and romance unfolded. Dominic had a reputation for being cold, cruel, and ruthless as an underboss but as the story unfolded, we saw that there was a tender side to him. Emelia had a reputation for being a pampered princess but as it turns out she can protect herself when needed and can be as savage and merciless as any of the men in her mob family. This book was full of action, suspense, mystery, romance, and passion. A great read!

Underboss’s Retaliation picks up where the last book left off. I guess you do t have to read book 1 before this one but it’s recommended by me so you gey the full story.
There are plenty of the same characters in this book as the previous book but this is more about Dominic. He is second in charge now and definitely plays the roll well. When he captures Emelia, he isn’t 100% sure what her fate will be but, quickly realizes, he wants to keep her as his own.
He even goes as far as to put a wig on her so no one knows who she really is when he moves her from place to place. Her family is the enemy. Emelia is not a delicate little flower. She can totally handle herself and proves to Dominic that she won’t make it easy for him or his family to use her as a pawn. When it is known that Alena is taken by The DeRosa’s that means war. Salvatore will do what he needs to do in order to get his little sister back unharmed.

Emelia finds out her entire life has been a lie. She had no idea what was going on, who was behind all the moves in the DeRosa clan but she’s about to find out and her world will be shattered. Will Dominic be able to
Pick up the pieces or will he be forbidden to go anywhere near the enemy?
This book was nothing short of amazing. I wanna be Emelia when I grow up haha! I love the Larussio’s but, Emelia made this book awesome!
Great characters, great story!
I don’t understand one thing. When Alena is taken, Sal makes it like she is highly trained and knows how to protect herself yet, she seems to be anything but that! Otherwise everything else in the book was pure gold! 5+ Stars

Underboss’s Retaliation is a dark mafia romance about enemy families. Dominic is the new underboss of the Larussio family. The Larussio family is trying to retaliate against the De Rosa family ever since they attacked and killed a handful of people from their family at a wedding. While Dominic is getting his revenge on the De Rosa’s, they capture the boss’s daughter. Emelia De Rosa is an educated female, but very much hidden from the work of her father’s life. She was taught how to somewhat protect herself, but not enough. She is feisty, and Dominic is highly attracted to that. While she tries to escape, she realizes that she is highly attracted to Dominic as well. The two of them know that this match can not happen, but can they resist each other? What does this mean for Emelia - she is the prisoner and the enemy's daughter?
I enjoyed this book very much. I love a good dark mafia romance, enemies-to-lovers trope. I thought the story was quickly moving which kept my interest. The main characters were also loveable, even Dominic. Dominic is demanding, strong, and a little possessive, but also has respect for women. He shows a lot of honesty in her presence when he can. This mafia family takes care of their own which allows Emelia to feel pretty safe, even when she shouldn’t. Emelia is a great character. She is feisty, smart, and witty, but also very understanding. She also shows how much family means to her and that she too is willing to protect family, if they are deserving of it. This is the second of the series that I have read and probably will continue to follow the story.

This is book 2 in the Sicilian God's series. I am completely in love with these books. There is so much going in the stories that you feel like your holding your breath to find out what happens. There are so many twists and turns that always keep you guessing. There is danger and action as we learn about the war between Mafia families and their need for revenge and retribution. As well as all this we have the passion and desire we get from our main couple in the stories in this case it's Dom and Emelia.

Emelia is the daughter of the De Rosa family. She was born and raised a Mafia princess. Dominic calls her a wildcat and he is not wrong. She isn't the meek and mild princess people think. She has guts and can handle herself and she won't let nothing or no one stop her from protecting her family. Even the enemy.

Dominic was never ment to fall in love with her. She's the enemy after all. Nothing good can come from it but there is no denying the attraction and feelings between them. Dominic is prepared to risk it all, even disobeying his own family to be with Emelia. No matter the cost she is his.

What unravels is a whirlwind of a tail where deceit and secrets start to unravel, enemies are everywhere and you don't know who you can trust. Will Dominic and Emelia's forbidden relationship stand any chance of survival? Or will the waring families end it before it begins?

Book 2 begins at the De Rosa mansion when the Larussio's come in at the end of book 1, when Dominic takes off to find the younger De Rosa children. It picks up very quickly and focuses on the magnetic attraction between Dominic Larussio and Emilia De Rosa as he snatches her to take to their warehouse for information.

Dominic realizes very quickly that Emilia is no little princess, shielded from everything their lives entail. In fact, she is wildly resourceful and has a major desire to help her family and bring down her enemy. Her lack of fear when faced with danger not only keeps her alive in many situations, but earns her Dominic's admiration and respect, beyond his attraction to her and their magnetic pull towards one another.

There are some things Dominic chooses to keep to himself, both things from Sal and the family as well as from Emilia while he tries to balance everything, find out who is behind which terrible act and why, make a plan to protect his family and the woman he is falling in love with...with some good passionate sections and good brutality to make sure you don't forget exactly who you're reading about. Well written, nice world building, gritty without being grotesque, and characters you can't help but root for.

Dominic and Emilia are not supposed to be together, members of competing crime families. But plans change and lives rearranged. There is no way there won’t be blow back if they are ever found out.

This is book 2 in this series but can totally be read as a stand-alone. There are references to other family members from book one but not enough that the reader would have unanswered questions. Do you want to read the first book? Of course. No reason at all not to read this authors book. Period.

Unable to put this book down I could have easily finished it in one day. But something about my family needing me and having to go to work always interrupts my reading time.

The Larussios are an Italian Crime family, their enemies are the De Rosas. When one family believes they have been insulted or crossed, there will be a bloodbath in return. This story has no shortage of anger, blood and violence. Luckily though it also has a good share of sexy times and alpha protection.

This book is not recommended for sensitive readers or those under 18 years old. But definitely for those readers looking for excitement and a wild ride.

This is the second book in the series and it didn't disappoint. You will find yourself invested in the characters from the very beginning. If you didn't read the first book in the series, I would recommend it but it isn't necessary as you will pick up things along the way to fill in the blanks. I think that this series is amazing and is really well written. There is the danger that you would expect in any mafia story but the twists and turns that this books takes are things that even someone like me who reads everything mafia didn't see coming. The passion that takes place between the characters will have you fanning yourself and blushing at the same time. This book has it all, mystery, conflict, romance, steam, danger, and an everlasting love. If you are a fan of mafia books or just a really good love story, I highly recommend this book. Enjoy reading this book as you wont able to put it down once you start and be prepared to feel all the emotions as the characters, that is how you know it is a good book.

This book was fantastic. I loved the ferocity of Emelia. She is not one mafia princess that I would mess with. Best book of the series so far!!!

Emelia knew she was in danger when her father told her and her brother to flee. When she was found Emelia thought it was the end. Little did she know it was just the beginning.

Dominic was a vicious soldier and knew what he needed to do. Dominic thought he was lucky to capture the two youngest DeRosa children. He knew his Don would be pleased, they would have the edge. But things never go to plan. Not only that, a strange protective instinct when it comes to Emelia has blossomed. Dominic will do what he has to do to save his family but will that cost him his new obsession, Emelia?

I loved the action, the banter, the tenderness Dom shows, the cunning Emelia possesses and all of it. Emelia is badass!!! I absolutely despise what happened to Leo. My heart ached for Emelia. I can’t wait for the wedding!! Totally loving this series!!

This is the 2nd book in the Sicilian Gods series, another spin off series including the Larussio family. I have loved every single thing that this author has written until now and this was no different. I devoured this book and loved every second of it. Each book can technically be read as a standalone but I think you’d get more enjoyment if you read the first book before this one. As both are such brilliant books, it will be no hard ship to read both.
In this book we get the story of Dominic Larussio, underboss to Salvatore from the first book. In retaliation for an incident in book 1, Dominic kidnaps Emelia De Rosa, daughter of their enemy. But what happens when sparks fly between the 2 and the chemistry is off the charts?
I absolutely adored Dominic and Emelia’s story. I was totally gripped from the very beginning and this book just didn’t let me go until the very end. In fact, I’m not sure it has let me go yet. The drama, danger and intrigue really make for an extremely entertaining read.
I would 100% recommend this book and any of this author’s books.

The fight that Emelia has within her is outstanding. The trauma she has endured and still to be strong enough to push herself is inspiring. As a mafia bosses daughter, she is used to death and deceit, but I do not think she was prepared for the havoc she had to endure after watching her family die before her eyes. I cannot express enough the jealousy I have of the fight she has within her. THEN, you get into this romance that comes in like a wrecking ball. To be able to love and trust after everything Emelia has gone through is even more inspiring.

Now about Dominic.. who would not be attracted to the strength that Emelia has? It is really no surprise that he falls in love with her. The strong and rather possessive soldier that Dominic is makes the enemies to lovers fantasy that much more enjoyable. From the characters to the plot, from beginning to end, this book is fantastic. You do not need to read the first book to understand the second, but I plan on going back and devouring the first!

Via’s writing fills the need in me to lose myself in fantastic dark and gritty stories with hot and sexy alpha men and Underboss's Retaliation does just that. It is the second book in the fabulous Sicilian Gods series and what a tale she has woven for her readers.
I love deliciously dark Mafia Protector Romances and Via is just so good at writing them. This enemies to lovers is explosive in more ways than one. There is drama and angst, lies and passion, fear and secrets, pain and action. It is raw and brutal, savage and sinful, passionate and bloody.
One wrong move makes for a deadly outcome. In a world where loyalty is everything. A deadly game in an already deadly world. Ruthless criminals, dangerous and powerful men in the evil underground world where blood on your hands are a given. Where hot heads and passion rule.
Revenge may well be his ruin?
Oh how I love Via’s work. I can’t wait for more!

Dominic has just taken two of DeRosa’s most prized possessions…after they taught him not to mess with the Larussio’s. Now, Dominic will have to do things he is hesitant to do for the first time and will hide things from Salvatore. Dominic has inherited a new position since Salvatore is now the don. His responsibilities just became more demanding and different. Emelia is DeRosa’a youngest daughter and is now in fight to save her life. She has been taken by the enemy and being housed in one of their homes. Nothing is promised or seems like it is! Emelia will learn things that most would be destroyed by but these secrets only make her stronger and more determined. She and Dominic will connect on a deep level and she will have to gain revenge, make hard life altering choices, and do things she never thought she would have to do…all in the name of love and saving lives! Via Mari brings us another brilliant, dark, steamy, action-packed story in her Mafia series you do not want to miss!

Underboss’s Retaliation is the second book in the Sicilian Gods series by Via Mari. It is another fantastic dark mafia romantic suspense with an enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity element- as well as danger, intensity, drama, action, chemistry, sizzle, agendas, mafia politics, high stakes, emotion, twists and turns, passion, secrets, lies, angst, heartache, violence, and much more.
As I have mentioned so many times now, I have read all of Via Mari’s book and have loved every single one of them. This talented author never fails to deliver a sexy and enticing read that never fails to keep me glued to the pages as all the gritty, raw, and intriguing developments unfold. I always go in with extremely high expectations, and she never lets me down!
I can’t wait to get my hands on Book #3!
Happy Reading…

Dominic Larussio is one bad underboss. He is known to be cruel and to make sure his family is safe. Being so ruthless he has more than he can handle when he meets the beautiful Emelia. She is off limits as she is the daughter of a rival crime family. Emelia is not only beautiful but she has got to be one of the strongest women I have read about in a long time. This story could be a standalone, but I feel you should read the series in order. The author of this book has written one of the most intense stories ever. The story is fast paced and non stop action. The characters are strong and independent for their mafia families. Many feelings will be brought out when you read this book. Be sure to have tissue, chocolate and something to drink as you will not be putting this on down until THE END.

Coming from enemy mafias, Dominic and Emelia should not feel an attraction to each other, but they do. Aside from being forbidden, they should also stay away from each other because Dominic's cousin has been kidnapped by Emelia's father and Dominic has taken Emelia until his cousin is released. The biggest problem, though, is they just can't stay away from each other.
Opinion
I'm a huge fan of Via Mari's mafia books. While they offer some gore, they are much more about relationships, and not just between the man and woman but between family members as well. Just reading through them can almost make you envious of the support the families have.
This book was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the fact that Dominic and Emeila are from rival mafia's. That is not necessarily something I expect in a mafia romance book.

This is book 2 and continues with the Larussio family going up against the De Rosa family. This book picks up where book 1 ended. Even giving a glimpse into book 1 in the first few pages.

This time the story is primarily about Dominic and Emelia. Which they are from opposite families that are enemies. So the first few chapters kind of give that Romeo and Juliet vibe. I love how Emelia is shown to be stronger than thought to be!

Emelia and Dominic cross a line that can never be un-crossed and no matter what one of them would have to give up their family lineage if they wanted to be together. Emelia shows just how strong she is and Dominic shows her how far he will go to protect her.

I can't wait to follow more of this family and see how this all plays out. I'm glad that each one is centered around a particular person.

Dominic Larussio, new underboss of one of the most dangerous crime families, falls for a woman that should be his enemy. After the attack on his family, making his cousin Salvatore the new don, Dominic should not want anything to do with this enthralling young beauty. Book two follows Dominic’s experience with love. Does the rival’s daughter cause an end to the Larussio reign, or does she become Dominic’s love? Find out in Underboss’s Retaliation.
Again, all characters are lovable with realistic feelings. The emotions are palpable through the pages. I would not change a single thing. Full of romance, mystery, and suspense, I could not but Underboss’s Retaliation down.
The series can be a standalone, but I highly suggest reading Boss’s Vendetta first. It sets the stage for Underboss’s Retaliation. If you are looking for a dark romance series, be sure to check out Sicilian Gods.

The second book in the series is an amazing continuation from Bosses Vendetta, In this book we follow Dominic as he finds his place as the underboss of the family, starting with the destruction of the home of their rival family.

Emilia, thinks she can escape the Larussio family when they stormed her family home, her, and her brother escape, but are they safe?

Taken hostage, kidnapped, held against her will, all of these are all thoughts that must run through Emilias head when she is really being protected.

Truth can hurt when it is spoken by those that should protect you with their lives, Emilia finds her family is not as close as it should be, and her parents lie.

I found this book a joy to read, the characters continue to grow and the world around them is well described. I cannot wait to read more

This extremely talented author yet again brings us a creative storyline that is action packed from start to finish and filled with fantastic characters. I didn't want to put it down! Dominic is now second in command and must do what is best for the family when along comes Emelia, the daughter of a rival who has retribution coming his way! She throws everything into a tail spin for him. She is so much more than he ever expected. He has to find a way to protect his family and keep what he truly wants...HER!! This is the second book for this amazing series and I think that if you haven't read the first book you are absolutely crazy! You can read and enjoy this book without it but I highly recommend reading the start of the series simply because its so good you don't want to miss it.

I loved reading this dark mafia story. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous book as well to help your enhancement of this author and series. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up and I never hesitate to pick her books up. This is a well written story where the author used details not only to bring life to the story but steamy romance as well. I found the characters to be relatable and I had no problem picturing myself in their world with them. They have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that I read in one sitting as it is that awesome. This is a must read and I highly recommend this book and this author,

Underboss’s Retaliation Arc is the second in Via Mari’s Sicilian Gods series. It follows straight on from Boss’s Vendetta, this time revolving around cousin Dominic - who would ‘do it all again, risk everything for the woman I barely know but whose heart and mind beats in time to my own’ - and the badass mafia princess from the rival crime family, Emelia. There is even a link to Mari’s Cruel Deception series, of which I have read Degrees of Innocence. I’ve read three of her books this year and I am becoming a huge fan. The romance, the passion, the danger, it all keeps you hooked. Every time I pick up one of her books, I cannot put it back down, and Underboss’s Retaliation Arc has proven this again. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Underboss's Retaliation is the 2nd book in the Dark Mafia Romance series. I did not read the first book, and still enjoyed this one. I could tell it was an ongoing story, and there was references to previous events. However, the author provided enough detail that it wasn't lacking. It is similar to other mafia romance books, but I really enjoyed it. The characters are well written, and their love and devotion to the Family is undeniable. It had a good balance of suspense and romance. Dominic is strong and loyal, but can be sweet under his terrifying outside. Emelia is feisty as all get out, and I love how strong females tend to be written in these books. I look forward to reading the rest of the

Another smashing story from this series and this author! I loved the passion, the excitement and the actions of these characters. I was enthralled from the first page! Honestly that activity held up through most of the book dazzling me more as the story went on.

I really liked Emelia as she is everything a woman wants to be. I only wish she was a bit older because some of the attitude and fiery passion comes with age. Maybe about 7 yrs older but not a lot. My other only complaint is the overuse of the word “Capiche”. It just felt unnatural with it ending every sentence in the beginning.

Overall a captivating storyline and amazingly well done characters. I look forward to the next in this series.

Via Mari does not disappoint with her series. The second book is full of well written characters, twists, turns, and romance. It is not the light hearted romance, but that deep dark romance. She captures the enemies to lovers essence laced into the story. This book picks up where the first ended. As such, I do recommend reading them in order. You won't regret it!

This story focuses on mafia enemies, Dominic and Emelia. The cruel reality of the world of crime doesn't slow a beat for anyone trapped in the dark web. All actions have consequences. Especially between rival families. That doesn't mean all consequences end the way one thinks they might.

Does it end with good or bad consequences for our enemy mafia main characters? Start reading now to find out!

The story of Dominic and Emelia is unique, Emelia being the sweet mafia princess ends up in Dominic’s lap when a revenge plan comes to fruition between the warring crime families. It’s their choices that lead to them tempting fate and going after each other although they’re not supposed to. They seem to be unable to stay away from each other even though she’s supposed to be his prisoner and leverage to get more information about their family, The connection that they have is too strong to stop and neither one wants to. When the danger kicks up a notch, it’s a race against the clock to save the other or lose them along with something else, their life. Can they get past the den of vipers otherwise known as their families or will the viper strike before they’re ready?

This is the second book in the Sicilian Gods series by author Via Mari. I was so excited when Underboss's Retaliation finally came out. After reading the first I couldn't wait for it to drop to see what was going to happen in the Larussio family next. And boy oh boy the author did not disappoint, it was just as good as the first one if not better. Emelia and Dominic are probably my favorite thus far ( saving judgment til the rest of the series come lmao) butas everyone knows i'm a sucker for strong females and enemies to lovers stories. Also the mafia genre books have become my favorite lately. I'm literally sitting on the edge of my seat for the next one. Via Mari you truly have a gift for writing and keep it up.
