In this unique exploration of the Rosary, former protestant pastor and Catholic convert Keith Nester takes readers on a journey through the mysteries of the Rosary that will help them truly enter into this life-changing prayer. Keith's down-to-earth reflections on the mysteries have played an integral role in the prayer lives of thousands of people who have taken part in his daily online prayer group called The Rosary Crew. Keith is also the author of The Convert's Guide to Roman Your First Year in the Church.
For me, this was a quick and easy read. Reading the same thing that we do every day, which is decoding the mysteries of the Rosary. All those who are just starting out on the path of the Holy Rosary would do well to pick up a copy of this book, in my opinion. This book opened my eyes to the fact that I had no idea about the gifts that were associated with the rosary mysteries. I realised this after reading this book. If we successfully complete these 20 mysteries, we shall be granted the 20 spiritual talents that are associated with them. I strongly urge everyone to pick up a book and allow yourselves to be inspired to do the rosary more frequently in their daily lives.
"Unpacking the Mysteries of the Rosary" is a fresh look at the mysteries and spiritual fruits of the rosary. I've read many books on the rosary over the years. Most focus on the theology - which is super important. At times, one might feel like they are saying the rosary wrong, without conviction, or a multitude of others feels because previous books/resources take such a firm and stoic take on the rosary. Mr. Nester is a convert to Catholicism. At times, many of us take our "cradle Catholic" roots for granted. Do I dare say we might even have a bit of a stale approach to our faith - at times? Mr. Nester leaves readers with an excitement and hunger to read more, pray more. "Unpacking the Mysteries of the Rosary" is firm take with a whole lot of love and excitement. Mr. Nester meets many rosary prayers where they are at - strong in their prayer, distracted, craving to learn more, wanting to understand why ... His personal anecdotes are completely relatable.
This is a perfect companion for anyone who prays the rosary. The beautiful well written reflections and meditations are inspiring and thought provoking.
