This book did a great job delivering on its promise to teach the fundamentals of coding and data science. I'd recommend it without reservations to anyone looking to get their feet wet in this field.

As you might imagine, having an interest in fantasy football makes the examples easier to understand. I also found that having basic knowledge of HTML and some of the core mathematical concepts helped me get through some chapters a little more quickly.

The author included Anki flashcards for every chapter of the book (and several for the denser chapters). I found these absolutely vital in actually retaining the information. By itself, the book would be a good guide, but the addition of the flashcards is what made it such a great value in my mind.

I took the book slowly, giving myself at least a day with each set of flashcards to make sure I actually understood the content before moving on to the next section of the book. Studying these daily has definitely made a difference in helping me remember (or re-learn) foundational information from the earlier chapters.

After finishing the book, I certainly don't feel like an expert in coding -- I'm not even sure what I'm ready to do with the knowledge I've gained yet. However, I definitely feel like I've gained a base of knowledge that will allow me to continue to learn about coding without the task feeling nearly as daunting as it did when I began reading this book.

Started out nice and easy, I can comfortably recommend this to anyone learning programming who likes football (fantasy or just football in general)

The modeling and stats chapters got hard fast, so if you are a new coder with out a math background don't get to beat up if it doesn't click right away. I am only doing 4 stars instead of 5 because I was hoping for more fantasy football knowledge and less programming/data knowledge. As someone who had the basics of development coming in it is probably my own fault. I got the "dev kit" as well, so hopefully reading that book + doing more exercises will help fill in my gaps!
