This book is a standalone that does not need to be read with any of the other Captured books. It is most accurately described as a mafia-adjacent romance instead of a traditional mafia romance.
It is a marriage of convenience, age gap romance with light sharing, and a HEA for the two main characters. It is not suitable for those under the age of 18.
Rosalia Promising young soprano, Rosalia Antonucci, wants nothing more than to attend an expensive music academy for vocal arts. She unexpectedly finds the solution in the mysterious Peregrine Calo, the wealthy diplomat for the Italian-American mafia.
What she thought was a simple marriage of convenience becomes something more as she is pulled into Peregrine’s dark world.
Once she’s gotten a taste of his brilliant, artistic mind, she finds she can never turn back. But what is the cost of loving a broken man who refuses to love her back?
Peregrine Diplomat by day, talented sculptor by night, Peregrine has spent years trying to work through the trauma of his past through his art. But now he finds his walls collapsing in the presence of his new wife.
As he uncovers Rosalia’s past neglect, he realizes her desire for his attention is exactly what his possessive, jealous side craves.
As he falls into an obsessive worship of his new wife, can he protect himself from being hurt again?
Raya Morris Edwards is the author of the Sovereign Mountain Series, the Welsh Kings Trilogy, and more! She lives near the mountains, but never close enough. When not writing, she's probably spending time with her family and dogs somewhere in the hills or traveling in the Blue Ridges.
- mafia arranged marriage romance! age gap, biggest praise k!nk! check TW! - honestly i was going to stop reading this and i blinked and i’d read it - i really like that they’re both artistic - the sex is incredible - this is described as a dark romance but i wouldn’t really call it dark they’re just toxic lmao - he is a very broken man but that does not excuse his behaviour - absolutely cackling at the thought of a Welsh mafia - the threesome just made me feel yucky - he ignored Lia FOR A WEEK - this man makes me angry - they have this giant sex party at the end and MY GOD HE USED THE SHIT OUT OF HER - it was so embarrassing that it happened in front of everyone but i’m so happy she FINALLY had a go at him - this was deffo a story about Peregrine and not Lia, her abusive family weren’t mentioned after they were married, we got to see her practice her singing a couple of times but she became all about him - he didn’t grovel - this is 50 pages of plot and 200 pages of sex and i am not mad about it - i acc really loved the epilogue, that was done perfectly - i’m really upset i didn’t like this more! it just wasn’t for me
It was a good book but threesome with Welsh boss was really pointless. I was hoping that won't happen but lt did happen and destroy the book for me. I couldn't like peregrine because of this threesome thing. Threesome shit broke my mind:D
The smut was good but that was the only good thing. The story had potential but the plot was missing. Peregrine is so toxic it ruined the whole book. Would not recommend.

"You are my agony, my ecstasy," he murmured. "The most beautiful thing I'll ever hold in my hands. You have never condemned me. You've only ever accepted me as I am."
"My angel." he murmured. From him. that one word meant everything

I feel like the author didn’t really know what to do with the story so she went with a lot of sex scenes. In my opinion it lacks the plot. Also, we didn’t get to meet the characters. Family drama? It could be so awesome if everything was explained, but it only appeared in the beginning.
Hands down, one of the weirdest book's I've read recently. This was one that almost became a DNF but I kept holding out hope, until the consensual cheating happened. By then I was too far through to give up. It started off with good potential but quickly changed. Not very well written and very little character development. Peregrine is indifferent towards Lia to the point where he lets another man have oral sex with her and finger her, but he draws the line at actually having sex with her. He can't deal with his feelings and is in denial. Meanwhile, Lia seems to want to please him even at the cost of her own selfrespect. Also, spitting in Lia's mouth and having her swallow their spit...EWWW!!! So much spit involved in pretty much all the smut parts in this book.
The number of question marks in my head, oh my God. Wtf was all that? Not once in the book did I understand why the characters acted the way they did. There were too many unrealistic scenes in my opinion. Like him fucking her infront of a room full of guests and them all staying to watch? Let’s get reaaaalllll ladies. I know this is fiction and all but whew that scene gave me the biggest book ick I’ve ever gotten.
I didn’t particularly like either of the main characters. They were both childish and annoying to me. All they did was fuck and then voila, they fell in love. How exactly did they fall in love when they only ever spoke to flirt and say dirty shit to each other? I want to erase this book from my memory. It’s too early in the year for this.

My poor little Peregrine… he believes himself to be a monster but really he is an angel (with a dark side of course). Lots of childhood trauma between these two… which is definitely the basis for their issues. These two pushed each other in the best way and I loved to see the growth in both of them. Wish we could have gotten more of Lucien and Olivia (because I am obsessed) but I did like the little glimpse we got of the other couples in this series. This was so damn hot though… that threesome and the stairs. GOOD LORD. And that is exactly how I like my threesomes hot but still possessive. 💯 recommended!!

I really liked another book by Raya Morris Edwards that I stumbled upon booktok so I thought heck I should check out this one. This one was different then the other. It was not as much mafia driven as the other book. But this book was intense in the smut areas. Let's first talk about the famous main characters.
Rosalia, I felt terrible with how her family treated her not as much as Olivia from the other book. Though Rosalie was more mental abused then anything with her family. They ignored her and she just did her own thing. So not surprising to see she just does what Peregrine wants. She felt a little flat to me as I wanted to know more of her thoughts about everything. I was confused in the way she did think though and how she could fall in love with him and trust him right away. Peregrine...first off...why Raya did you name him that. I don't even know how to pronounce his name so it was hard to focus on him. He was intense in the bedroom but I wanted more of him. He was gone for a lot of the book so I didn't get to know him enough to fall in love with him. Which made me super sad.
The plot was okay, it was not the greatest as I felt like didn't have a build up. They were instantly having sex when the main characters did not know each other. Also I wanted to see Peregrine beat the crap out her step-brother. But alas he did not. I felt like the whole book was lacking especially considering I read another book from this author. It had a great....I mean amazing smut scenes that really make you think. Never though that fear was a turn on. It's a decent book and will be a good read. Worth a check.
This is an arc review but all opinions are my own.
Wow this was such an amazing book and I loved everything about it! This is definitely a much more relationship based book but that’s my preference so I really enjoyed it. The relationship felt so well paced and I felt as though as a reader I was apart of the story. We got to see all the ups and downs and character growth. I really related to the fmc and I love how we got to see different sides to her and how she came into her own. I really enjoyed the ending chapters and felt as though it was a great ending for the characters and story. The smut was amazing as usual, and there was lots of it without it being too overbearing and reparative. The one thing missing for me was I was left with a question about both the MCs family’s. Did they never speak again? What’s the relationships like now? Towards the end something happened with a certain sibling and I would have liked to have seen more scenes regarding that’s situation but apart from that I loved the book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Brothers friend Age gap Mafia V heroine Fear play Praise Marriage of convenience Spit play Threesome scene/ sharing Exhibitions
Rosalia been neglected her whole life from her parent and brothers only because she a woman she had to write a reason to get money from her stepfather and they wouldn’t allowed her to go to school until peregrine.
Peregrine needed to get marry to get his inheritance. He has issues he cold and distance because when he was. Child he been abused by his grandpa and no one help him when he told his father he was punished no one defended him so he doesn’t love his parent which he doesn’t know what love is so when he marry Rosalia he start having feeling for her but he denied them.
Until he embarrassed her and he walk out on him and he apologize to her and try to be. Better husband and to love her
I liked it and wanted to give it a 5 star but it was one thing that made me pretty annoyed so I give it a 4 star.
I felt so bad for the female lead. Her family is shit and her mom wasn't really there for her. It didn't sound like she had a childhood, to be honest. I wasn't that fan of the male lead but then later on he started to show more of a side of him, and then that one part that made me go from “aww to WTF???!”. I was shocked and speechless and my brain didn't function right after what I read. Somehow the following chapters to the end made sense but that part fucked up the way I imagine him. Overall it was good.
Kinda mid. The book felt really centered on their relationship and not much else happened. I think it would’ve been nice to see a couple more scenes with her family and how they made her the way she was. Also it just kinda felt like peregrine was saying all these things about being a monster but there was nothin to really back it up. It wasn’t like he was killing people or doing anything weird. His only basis for being a monster was being jealous so it just fell flat for me. I’d say the whole thing fell pretty flat actually. A lot of the scenes were just described kinda factually rather than actually having the scene play out, which I thought was a weird writing choice.
The start of the book was good. I was interested to see where it was going. The wedding night scene was the absolute loveliest and I enjoyed reading every part of it, but after that it got boring for me. The spice level of this book was really good, but it got a bit boring because there would be spicy scenes on every single page. The story line barely went anywhere and there was nothing else to the book that gave it any bulk. If you like pure spice then you'll enjoy this book. I don't mind the spice but would like an actual storyline to follow. Won't be reading any other books by this author if they're the same as this one, unfortunately.
male lead was an idiot but he made me laugh with the shit he came out with.
“Do we have to…sleep in the same bed?” she asked. “Yes, I think so.” “Why?” I sat back. “So we can fuck.”
had me laughing my ass off and it’s not even that funny 😭
the threesome ruined the whole book and this merrick character wasn’t nearly as attractive as the author made him out to be. should’ve left that shit out
I liked this book but it had some werid topics. The mmc was treating the fmc bad most of the book, their chemistry was always great but I did not like how he treated her. I felt this books was mostly spice and not a lot of plot and not in a good way. There was a third act breakup, but I wish we say more happy moments like the end of the book. The sharing scene was weird to me. And the party could have been written better.
While the Romance and Spice in the Plot were on point, there was no actual Mafia work, I would’ve like to have some more scenes with both sides of their families once they’ve grown as a couple and The FMC was more confident in herself, but overall great story with Age Gap, PTSD, and definitely Triggering
I thought this was a cute story witch good characters the author did a good job at the development of the main characters,, I was just left a little confused about if this was supposed to be a mafia book?? Regardless it was a good book and I hope more people pick it up and read it
Got to 50% of the book, and didn’t finish, the sharing? I do like it in books, but it just didn’t do it for me here. I can read a reverse harem but this was not that and I didn’t like it. I read a review that said this book is about him and not Lia, barely anything about her being said, and the book is 99% sex, don’t mind it but I need more then that in a book. Maybe I just wasn’t into the book.
This is the 1st book I've read by this author, and I can't wait to find more of their work. I really really enjoyed this book The characters are relatable, the struggles in their lives and in themselves well well done. I really enjoyed how to broken sad and lonely people found healing and strength in each other and then in themselves.
That was nothing like I expected. I was confused throughout trying to figure out what date this was set in since a dowry was mentioned. It confused the matter with the current era of clothes mentioned. The story was deep and dark, it was certainly from Peregrine's perspective not Lia's, would have loved an epilogue.
I definitely think this has the best writing out of all the books I've read in the series so far. The spice was really great as well and just the overall romance aspect. Plot wise it's not as interesting as the previous ones, but still a food read nonetheless.
The book was fine, it was good to see the growing of their relationship, but I didn't like the sharing part at all and her family's behavior towards her at the beginning of the book , or their Vue on women's role in general.
